About AI art:

I am not an artist, I have a pretty vivid imagination, but I struggle getting those images from my mind to a canvas, be that with paper and pencil or digital. I also do not have the monetary means to commission art for all my characters, and while I have commissioned art for characters before I don’t really have the freedom to do so now.

And that’s where AI comes in. While I know it’s not the best tool, nor is it seen as widely accepted by artists, it is a great help for someone like me to visualize my ideas either partway or in some cases completely. So, yeah. You might see some AI generated art on my character profiles, and while I do reverse image search everything to make sure it isn’t a copy of someone’s art, I’m not perfect. So, if you see something similar to a piece you yourself have made or someone you know has made let me know and I’ll remove it.

Ginnungagap, the primordial void in which the world was created.

Tl;dr: I changed my name. Been wanting to do it for a long time and now it’s done. +Some stuff about Norse mythology and my connection to it.

I’ve been thinking about changing my name for a while now… well since before I moved away for school, and I’ve been home for 3 almost four years now. But I could never think of a fitting name to replace my old one with. Don’t get me wrong, I am Nordic. It is… me. But I didn’t feel like it fit me here.

So yeah, after I think 6 years at this point Ginnungagap has taken over. For those that don’t know or if you’re just curious about where the name comes from. Ginnungagap, in Norse and Germanic mythology is the void in which the world was created. The story is told with a lot of variation in three poems of the Elder Edda.

Growing up in Norway I’ve had a fascination with Norse Mythology ever since learning about in I think 3rd grade and had been learning about the Norse gods and the many stories of the Eddas long before I ever saw Marvel or any other interpretation of it. And as such Ginnungagap, Yggdrasill, Mimisbrunnr and all those things hold different meaning to me. Now don’t get me wrong, I am in no way an expert on Norse mythology or the Eddas, hell I don’t even remember most of it at this point. So, what those things mean to me may at times be very different from what their actual meaning is supposed to be.

To me in this case the name is closer to a point of view than an actual name. It’s in a way how I approach worldbuilding and character creation. It all starts from the void, the emptiness. Ginnungagap. Then an idea forms. A concept or a name, sometimes even just a simple phrase or a comment. Something strikes a chord within me and boom, now there’s something in the void. An amorphous distorted blob of something, but nonetheless something that I can attach other ideas and things to.

So yeah, Ginnungagap. That’s me, and it’s not. But this is getting long enough so I’ll just leave it at that.

A Little About Me

As it says at the top there, I'm a 20-something year-old Norwegian guy that started writing fantasy related stuff around 2011 and RPing in 2014 or 2015… can't quite remember.

While I for the most part will chat with just about everyone I prefer if my RP partners are at least 20 years of age, for that reason I tend to stick to the "adults only" forum when looking for RPs.

I personally like writing free-form RPs, and while I do like laying out the plot I also like just going with the flow. Either way I usually prefer laying out a series of smaller loose goals and maybe one or two major goals we want our characters to achieve or go through. This can be anything from simple mundane things like moving to a different apartment to complex situations that require planing and preparation.

I have a preference for darker fantasy themed RPs but I also like the occasional more down to earth slice of life style rps. I usually do either medieval or modern settings, but I'm open to do more Sci-Fi related stuff every now and then although that usually boils down to star wars.

While I don't mind playing in worlds from games, movies or books I prefer staying away from the main stories that exist in those worlds, either setting the RP before or after the events in the original media or in a different part of the world from where that story takes place. I usually also prefer staying away from canon characters. This doesn't mean that characters from the original media can't be mentioned or have brief cameos, I just prefer that we keep our story separate from the book/movie/game as much as possible.

While I usually try to not drop RPs without telling my partner why I have a track record of losing track of my RPs and forgetting to reply, I have also on more than one occasion thought of a reply while away from my pc and somehow misremembered that as me actually replying by the time I get home. So if I go a long time without replying or sending a message about me being gone just send me a reminder and I'll either update you on the situation or write out a reply.

Sometimes however life just bites me in the ass and I have to drop things to take care of myself or the people around me, which might lead to me not seeing messages for a while.
