So in Facebook, if someone messages you, or there a friend request or notification of some sort, there will appear in a number (determined by how many there are.) I was wondering if we could do something like that. so when your on, on the RPR tab it will say 'RP Repository (1)' or (2) and so on and so on. It would tell us when theres a new message or someone is trying to friend us without us refreshing our page.
Sadly, not with our current server/technology. This would require the server to be accessed repeatedly even when the browser is sitting there doing nothing, and it already has just barely enough power to handle all of us our requests together during peak times.
It's a good idea, though, and might eventually happen on select pages (like the homepage, where every few minutes a check for new notifications is being conducted anyway).
