It is nearly midnight this bright moonlit night as the yellow crescent rises higher and higher into the royal blue cloud speckled sky. Down in a lone pumpkin patch was a bone thin figure wearing a pumpkin on his head. His threads hung close to his long and bony frame, they were the color of shadow and reflected no light from the moon as a shadow reflects no light shined upon it. While he seemed to be alone there was something creepy in the way he sat perfectly still upon a perfectly sized pumpkin for sitting, one of many that circled the figure. Was he a mannequin or a scarecrow? There was a thin layer of fog on the ground, just enough to obscure the dirt and anything smaller than 3 inches.
The figure just sat there, stood there with a large cauldron of bubbling murky green goop at his feet. You couldn't see anything special about the figure besides there seeming to be a face-like pattern etched into the pumpkin.
Off a ways, through a barrier of bushes and thornes was a wooden sign next to a road that read in quickly applied black paint "Pumpkin patch! Come meet the Great Pumpkin! Play games and win prizes. Please wait till midnight for the show to start!"
Whoever put all this on was hoping someone, anyone would show up; as shoddy as it was put together there would undoubtedly be much fun to be had once midnight arrived.

Riley was walking when he say sign, he stopped and started to walk down the road towards the sign was pointed. He made it there and saw the figure, he smiled at it in delight seeing such a place. "Did you make..all this?" He looked at the figure
The figure said nothing, he merely put a bone thin finger to the grimly smiling mouth of the jack o'lantern that was placed where his head would be. "Shhh..." came a voice as soft as the wind but as raspy as leaves rustling across a sidewalk. The voice came from the pumpkin, when it did there was a faint green glow that flickered. Was that part of the costume this figure wore?
There were still 2 more spots for people to fill, then and only then would the fun begin.

Marcy had just gotten done with trick or treating with her little sister and decided to go on an evening walk. She stopped and read the sign and looked at her watch. She shrugged and figured she would see what this was about and walked down the path, seeing a boy already there.
With a red wig, a purple sea-shell bra, and an ill-fitting floor-length green skirt, Scylla was obviously attempting to be a beloved mermaid character for halloween this year.
It wasn't going so great. Already awkward on land, with the tight skirt providing an additional hobble, she looked as if she might fall over and flop like a fish out of water at any moment. She shuffled carefully, never really taking either foot off the ground, filling the air with a litany of curses that caused mothers to hustle their children across the street. She had been trying to go to a party, but now she was lost and feeling so foolish she was reconsidering.
That's when she saw the little pumpkin patch, with people starting to gather about it. She approached, slowly, awkwardly, and asked in a too-loud voice: "What's going on over here? Is this some kind of sale promo?"

Marcy turned around and saw a girl. "I'm not exactly sure what any of this is supposed to be." She called back and stepped towards the strange looking mermaid girl that had appeared.

The thin figure with the pumpkin on his head slowly began to rise from his slumped and seated position, when he stood at full height he was just a couple inches shy of being 6 foot. He waved his gloved bony hands over the bubbling cauldron, sparks of sickly green issuing from his fingers began to peel away the black gloves revealing nothing but bone for his hands. His scarecrow like clothing melting into black shadows till they formed a nearly paper thin hoodie with a plumage of thick black fur around the collar. His head burst into green flames while a maniacal laugh slowly began to build.
"Haha... HAHA... MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!" the pumpkin headed man laughed, the pumpkin's mouth and eyes and all facial features in general moving and acting like a real face would. "Its... TIME!!!" he shouted as the cauldron went from boiling over to erupting high into the air, a thick green cloud of pea soup color fog billowing up into the sky.
"WELCOME. WELCOME TO MY PUMPKIN PATCH!!!" he shouted with delight, "Fear not, for I am your humble host. Jak, Jak the thirteenth. At your service." Jak said with a flourish of his wrist making a bouquet of orange colored cotton candy appear out of thin air in his bony hand. "Now you two ladies, yes the two of you. Come closer please, I insist!" Jak said as he shoved the cotton candy towards Riley and with a beckoning motion to the girls not too far away. The bushes would attempt to pull in and close up behind both girls.

Marcy watched as everything happened so fast. She felt and saw the bushes surrounding her and the girl. She scooted closer and glanced at the boy not too far from them.
Scylla blinked as the show began. "Huh. This could get interesting..." Her ultra thin Lamprey teeth can be seen when she speaks. She seems like a steady sort, if unusually hobbled by impractical costumes tonight.
With an awkward pat on the other girl's shoulder, perhaps to reassure her, she shuffles in closer.

"Now that everyone is present and accounted for let the formalities begin. You all know who I am but I haven't the pleasure to know any of you." Jak said as he waved away the dirty green steam that issued from the large black bubbling pot. Within the pot the liquid had changed color, consistency and aroma. It looked and smelled more like warm caramel.
"Who will go first? Name, fun fact and anything else you think we should know about you." Jak said as he sat down on the pumpkin he had been sitting on earlier. Only it was shaped differently, it was as if it had molded itself like taffy to be more accommodating and chair-like. Jak flashed a smile, and by flashed you could literally see a brightly burning amber glowing candle flame.
"Who will go first? Name, fun fact and anything else you think we should know about you." Jak said as he sat down on the pumpkin he had been sitting on earlier. Marcy steps in front of the girl and walks a bit closer to the cauldron. "My name is Marceline, but I also go by Marcy.." She stood and tried to think of a fun fact about herself. "Uh, my favorite book is Dead Beautiful, if that counts as a fun fact." "There is not much more to know about me so, someone else can go." She said and backed up a bit.
Scylla eyes the cauldron with open distrust, but also no small amount of interest. In the lull after Marcy speaks, she realizes with a start that it's her turn, and labors to speak around her nightmarish teeth. "My name's Scylla. I used to experiment with poisons in search for cures to diseases. It wasn't fun, but it is a fun fact."
Riley looked around and figured out he was the last and only one to speak, "I'm Riley..". He kept looking around and then looked back at the others and Jak occasionally. "I'm irish..and that's it really..nothing else interesting." He looked at the cauldron and kept his hands deep down in his jacket's pockets. "There is three of us Jak...shall we begin?" He looked at Jak.
Jak watched each person with increasing interest, "All of you are so... Modest," he with a sly grin - he knew something that they didn't. "Lets hope all of you remain so as the festivities begin tonight. NOW-" Jak continued, his voice suddenly booming. "You lucky 3 will compete for a prize, a wish if you will. No silly limitations like love or death or more wishes. You can wish for whatever your heart desires until sunrise. But to do so..." Jak said as he was lifted into the air by a thickly corded pumpkin vine.
With a wave of his hand several fireballs shot out into the field around them, the field looked as if it would burn but several walls made of tangled vines, pumpkins, pumpkin flowers and leaves the size of dinner plates rose from out of the ground. "-You will have to make your way through my maze." Jak shouted from up above. "There are three paths and three exits. But there will be a catch at the end so don't think for a moment that you're entitled to winning just for exiting the maze first." Jak cautioned.
He then gestured to the bubbling pot of caramel, "Each of you need to take an apple from the cauldron," he said as three perfectly shaped red apples surfaced from the gooey depths. Each apple would be clean and without caramel when removed. "-and carry it with you the entire way. Don't lose it and don't damage it. It is your key to your wish." Jak warned further.
"Now for the rules. Don't climb on or damage or force your way through the walls, they won't like that and neither will you. If you want to drop out, just call out for me to remove you from the maze. You may run, you may play tricks and you may ask for assistance. But there will only be one winner tonight. Are there any questions?" Jak said with certain amount of enthusiasm. The vines that held him aloft moved him smoothly over the maze walls so that he could watch everyone's progress.

Tongues of flame spewed from Jak's mouth when the first questions arose. "Magic is allowed. But there are certain stipulations I must insist you follow. One being that you shouldn't use it to peek over the maze, the vines will pull you down and hold you in place for a minute or two. The next being that magic can only be used to maneuver around or remove certain obstacles that you may or may not encounter. Also no killing please, that would result in the wish being spent to revive the recently deceased." Jak said with a bony finger scratching the underside of his face, like a person would to their chin.
"And to answer your second question, sobriety is not required but the unwilling inebriating of fellow competitors is against the rules. Feel free to be tipsy if that is a strategy you feel confident about, dearie." Jak replied with a sly wink.
"Any other questions?" Jak asked, indicating towards Riley and Marcy.

Marcy went begging her and picked the second apple and turned it over in her hand. She took off her small backpack she had been carrying and gently put the apple in and zipped it back up. She raised her hand to Jak. "If we do not have access to magic, will we in any way be able to receive some?" She asked thinking it would be interesting to have some sort of power to help her.
"Hmm, that does seem fair..." Jak mused almost to himself. "Fine, I can loan anyone who wants magic a bit of power. But you'll have to figure out what you've been given and how to use it correctly.~" Jak said in a sing-song voice, this game would be more interesting than last time.
Jak snapped his bony fingers and Marcy was enveloped in an icy blue mist that froze to her clothes for a moment before thawing away just as quickly as it had set.
"There. Now you have some magic," Jak smirked before turning slightly to look down at Riley. "I don't suppose you want some magic too, or perhaps you'd like to ask me a question?" Jak said slyly with a twinkle in his flaming eyes.

((Try not to go too far in the maze, it would kind of lame to suddenly be at the exit after one past. Plus you wouldn't get the chance to destroy some stuff for fun! So again, don't go too far and write me in an opening for me to post what your first obstacle will be.))
