Most dragons were not malicious creatures. Territorial, yes; they did not take kindly to any species, not even their own, attempting to seize their territory, or even setting foot on it. But it was uncommon to see a dragon venture out of their territory for the sole purpose of attacking and fighting. This dragon, however, was different.
Rumors said it was hundreds of feet tall, with rigid, black scales that seemed to become blue in the sunlight. Rumors said one full motion of its wings would unearth the roots of the tallest trees with the force of the wind it created. Rumors said its eyes were golden like treasure, but its teeth were black and sharp, and the creature spit fire, leaving devestation wherever it went.
Katja had never imagined the rumors to be right. The Knight found her nunbers dwindled to the tens, many men already injured but struggling to their feet. Her beautiful horse, her pride and joy, had been taken down when the beast swung its scaled tail into them, knocking her down with it; the agonizing pain in her leg lead her to believe she had broken the limb, but still she stood, clutching her sword.
Her last few archers too aim, but the beastly Dragon let out a loud roar, fire blooming from its throat and across the woods. The gusts of flame and hot air sent Katja falling backwards, her sword toppling from her hands and into the ground, while she rolled back, stopped only by a tree. Dazed, she could hear screaming in the distance, and struggled to her feet; it was no use, the leg beneath her wouldnt support her feet and the beast had already taken flight.
The blonde woman lay nearly unconscious on the forest floor, the trees ablaze around her. The nearby village could only watch as the dragon flew into the sky, leaving billowing smoke in its wake.
The battle had been lost, but maybe not the war.

Depending on how long it goes, who knows what could happen. Romance could happen, but that may take a bit of work, lets be honest. Combat is a given; after all, its a quest to vanquish a dragon.
