Yann is a well-known mercenary from Andromeda galaxy. Without a current patron, she's been wandering the galaxies chasing down slavers on her own. Despite the danger this entails, it is rarely lucrative work. It's getting time to look for someone in need of a hire.
The bar is loud and rowdy, but people stop to look at her as she walks by--intimidated by her size, fascinated by her tattoos, staring at her scars, whatever the story, she likes it. Attention means more of chance of someone taking notice of her and deciding she's worth hiring.
As she's sitting at the bar with a glass of booze, someone approaches her from behind. Without turning she says, "If you're looking to hire, I don't do kidnappings and I don't traffic in people. I might take an assassination job, but it depends on who it is, and it'll be expensive. What do ya say?"

On very, very, rare occasions there may be unexplained, POSSIBLY supernatural events. Minor "environmental" magic. Perhaps implies the existence of a deity or supernatural entity. Or perhaps it's just tricks?
Far future, perhaps galactic teleporters and fast terraforming
Unrest may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat may be summarized.
