The sky was more then just black, it was pouring down. It had not let up for days now, and it was becoming an annoyance. Paths where just disgusting mud-ways. Many people had taken to staying at Inns or taverns, anything that comes first. The rain, was apparently, as the wizards said, to let up tomorrow. There was doubt, but after 3 or 4 days strait of this, it was possible.
Eryaaniu only hoped for such thing to happen. Walking though mud wasn't fun, not after the second day. It became something that tired you until you broke in half. Only a few more steps...A few more. The Inn was just in the distance...Just within a 5 minute walk, as long as Eryaaniu could keep moving.
Cutting that time in half, Eryaaniu booked it, heading strait for the Inn, getting their in seconds, but mud was all up her back, her cloak. Moaning, she shook what little could be shaken off, off, and stepped farther into the Inn, paying for a room quickly, moving over to a seat right by the fire, which was literally just left by a young lad.
Commonly, Eryaaniu wouldn't like this, but it was nice, and it dried her off, which pleased her. Now, just for something interesting to happen, or someone interesting to show up. . .

After a few hours, being stuck in a room looking out the window turns boring. Let Sylan be your proof. Not only had he been there for several days, but lately it had started raining - bummer. Say what you will about a Wood Elf - yes, they may be one with the woods and love nature and stuff, but that doesn't mean they are forced to love rain, too.

Back to Sylan. That Woodfolk who was sick of being stuck in his room. After carefully hiding his belongings under his bed (his belongings being a sword, a bow, and a backpack full of... well, stuff) he decided he would be much better by a fire.

He walked out of his room, down the stairs... Damn it, all seats by the fire taken. Oh well. He'd just... stand there and wait for that person there to leave. Obnoxious as he was, he was more than willing to just stare at that weird person until he - or she, Sylan wasn't sure, as the person was facing away from him - felt disturbed and left.

Yes, Sylan decided he wanted that particular seat for some reason.

Eryaaniu sat up strait, feeling eyes droning on her back like someone really didn't like her. She adjusted in her seat, a bit disturbed.
Pushing up the scarf around her face a bit more, since it being wet, it had slid down. It covered her features nose tip down, which was just her jawline-shape and lips, and, if this was important, her nose tip. Eryaaniu glanced about, seeing someone staring at her with a glare that made her feel like he was trying to make her catch fire. Curiously, she just sat there, and started to return the death glare back at the man.
She honestly wondered if this was a game, serious stuff, or just something else all together. What ever it was, it was weird, and Eryaaiu lacked understanding of it.

After a few more seconds of staring, and facing a reaction, Sylan asked himself a pertinent question: was it working the way he wanted it to?

Most certainly not. Would he cut it out anytime soon? He honestly doubted it - he was very aware of his stubbornness at times. But that was getting awkward. Too awkward for his taste. He missed the woods, in a way. Not the rain, of course, but the lack of oh-so-social interactions such as the one going on.

Besides, if that strange person decided that look was insulting, it could lead to something ugly. And Sylan had left his weapons in his room.

Having made the very stupid decision of trying to make that person go by looking at him or her (he still wasn't sure), he was now in a stare contest with a complete stranger. He missed his friends: a smack to the head with a blunt object always stopped him from making a fool out of himself like that.

He had been in numerous fights, but that staring contest was making him more uneasy than, let's say, having some person wailing on him with a flail. Then again... no.

Time for evasive maneuvers, Sylan my boy., he thought, before he turned around and waved at the woman at the counter.

"Ale!"

Don't fool yourself, he still wanted that seat. He had just decided a seat wasn't worth risking one's life for - even if the said seat was by the fire.

What a strange little elf... She thought, watching him quietly. What was this elf trying to do? Why didn't he just skedaddle back on into the woods where elves, generally, belonged?
The goddamn rain, of course. What person in their right mind would stay in the forest there you get booters so bad, boots that, for safety, you have strapped to your calf gets stuck in mud hidden by ground clutter? She guessed that Elf though the same thing, and now was also thinking that a seat near the fire was more then a good idea.
Eryaaniu dropped her death-stare for the staring contest the two where having when the Elf had asked for some Ale, guessing he had given up.
She turned in her seat, and faced away, back to the fire. She'd be out of this seat when her armor and clothing had completely dried...

Oh, mischief, oh stubbornness, oh dumb-as-a-rock moments, Sylan is thy name. Now that the elf had the ale he had ordered in front of him, he remembered he was not the biggest fan of alcoholic beverages.

Oh, idea.

Sometimes, the things Sylan would do to achieve his goal bordered on the idiotic. This was the case. Being able to fool around freely did wonders to his ego - not that his ego needed them.

"Hey you - person by the fire." He called, looking at his glass mug as if it was a very interesting thing. "Come here. I'll buy you a drink."

A good number of people looked up, blinking. Eryaaniu looked around as well. Few others turned back away, knowing the elf probably didn't mean them, and went back to their ales, rums and ports.

Eryaaniu let out a sigh, turning back to see who had hailed her. It only took her a moment to notice that it was the same elf she had just finished a staring competition with.

Eryaaniu curiously turned, and wondered why the elf had offered an drink, when she herself had never done anything in return for that drink. Curiosity was the reason why she got up and went over to the Elf to see what he wanted in return for a drink. Eryaaniu walked over from the seat, and stopped in front of the elf, looking at him, awaiting on learning what he wanted.

The elf did not react. He looked like he was thinking - perhaps contemplating something. "Looked" being the key word here. All just an act, for a purpose as petty as it was useless.

"This ale I ordered is yours." He said, pointing at the mug. "Long story, I don't feel like explaining."

More than a trick, that was a test. He remained quiet for a few seconds.

"Your silence is deafening. In the woods, silence means death."
Eryaaniu Rauko (played by FriedaSilver) Topic Starter

Eryaaniu snorted at the elf. Silence did, generally, mean death when you are in the forest, but Silence can also mean peace- thus the saying Peace and Quiet- specially when you are in are trying to sleep and their are birds making a lot of noise.

Her eyes lingered on the Ale for a moment, pulling away. Ew. She hated ale- well, anything that would make a man go tipsy. It also, quiet frankly, hated her. . .

She glared at the Elf now, her eyes slits- what on earth did this silly little elf want from her...?
Unknown user

That wasn't going as he had hoped. Her silence was seriously annoying him.

Seat? What seat? Now that he could have it, he no longer cared.

"So. You don't like ale. That's fine." A small pause. "Look, if you ain't talking, starting a conversation with you isn't going to be easy." Suddenly, stabbing Eryaaniu and making a quick retreat while giggling like a little girl sounded like a good idea. Anything but that awkwardness.

Even so, he managed to keep his cool as he maintained that horribly upsetting eye contact.

"So. What are you."

Great ice breaker, Sylan. Just great.
Eryaaniu Rauko (played by FriedaSilver) Topic Starter

Eryaaniu just watched the elf closely. He was quiet a source of entertainment- that was for sure... Then again, it would also depend on what kind of entertainment you liked.

She paused, and turned to look back. Her seat had been taken by a older man, probably used to be some sort of blacksmith...She shook her head, a soft growl escaping her chest- now a bit annoyed this elf had lost her her seat next to the warm fire.

Eryaaniu turned back to the elf, and shook her head, "What am I?" she repeated, and just chuckled, shaking her head slowly.

Oh I am many things...

Sylan's palm met his face. His other hand reached for the ale his new friend had rejected. He was going to need it.

What have I gotten into? Why am I here again? Oh right - the rain. Note to self - leave without paying.

Standard procedure. At least they weren't after him anymore. With that rain, who would? Worries aside, and back to the weird woman - who was a worry by herself. Maybe if he was to introduce himself? After a few sips of the ale - and a couple funny faces, too - he spoke.

"Well, you're not telling who you are and frankly I couldn't care less - I was just making conversation, you see. I'm Sylan, ranger and rogue extraordinaire."
Eryaaniu Rauko (played by FriedaSilver) Topic Starter

Is he trying to make a friend of me? Or does he want something...Because this is honestly going nowhere.

When the smell of the beverage was, well, in smelling reach, Eryaaniu receded, and became a bit disgusted when the elf in took it. She was always disgusted when people drank that vile stuff...It smelt bad, tasted worse, and did funny things to people who had to much of the stuff.

When a rather loud crack of lightning split the sky, she turned to face the window, which instantly light up with the white light. The lightning forks where just over head now, or at least, very close it seemed.

Eryaaniu turned to face the elf once more, listening to what he said, then shook her head. "If you do not care, then why did you ask?" she questioned him, waiting on an answer.
Unknown user

"Man, you suck at social interaction even more than I do! I was trying to break the ice. Apparently I made it even thicker, if that's even possible."

He looked around. In his mind, everyone in the room was glaring and commenting the scene. Maybe they were, maybe they were not, but for Sylan, it was a fact. At least the awkward silence that followed gave him a chance to finish his drink - from the expression of his face, one would believe he was drinking vinegar - or worse, way worse.

Stupid rain, ruining all my hopes of making a dignified exit...

"Do you even have a name?" He asked after a while.
Eryaaniu Rauko (played by FriedaSilver) Topic Starter

'Do you even have a name? Of course if have a name! What kind of stupid question is that! This elf mustn't have much sense... Eryaaniu thought, furrowing her brows, glaring at him, showing that she thought that comment was stupid,

"Well yes, I have a name, but why give it to someone I do not know?" she questioned, crossing her arms over her chest, and waited an answer on that. She was amused by all the faces this elf was making while he drank his ale. Sure, the drink was bad, but honestly, she'd never imagine it being that bad.

Feeling eyes on her back, she slowly glanced around the Inn, seeing eyes upon them. How interesting could a conversation two people be? She didn't dwell on the idea...
Unknown user

"And why not? I gave you mine already."

Oh great, now she's glaring at me. She thinks I'm stupid! I miss Lilly. She thinks I'm stupid, too, but at least she gets me rid of these messes. Oh boy, everyone is looking this way.

Suddenly his empty mug was very interesting, and it remained interesting for a few seconds, until Sylan realized staring at a mug wouldn't help his case any. He sighed, glanced at Eryaaniu again. What a strange person she was to him. Curiosity arose; but he knew very well that there was nothing he could do about that.

The door outside? Still closed. At least that. Was he getting to paranoid?
