It's almost an app

I know you probably check the RPR from your phone or tablet about 20 kajillion times a day. I know this because I do it too.

And if you're doing this, you're probably wishing there was a way to create a shortcut to the RPR, like an app icon on your phone's homescreen. Well, you can!

Add a bookmark to your Android homescreen

  1. Open your phone's browser and navigate to http://www.rprepository.com
  2. Tap the settings button in the browser. It's three vertical dots in the top right of the screen. This will open the settings menu.
  3. At the top of the settings menu, tap the star icon. This will open the Bookmarks menu.
  4. Make any changes you need to to the text of the bookmark, but most likely you can just skip to pressing "Save"
  5. Now, open the settings menu again (still the three vertical dots at the top right of the screen). You'll notice that there's a new option here now that you've created a bookmark for this page! "Add to homescreen"
  6. Tap "Add to homescreen", tap "Add", and you're done!

Add a bookmark to your iPhone/iPad homescreen

  1. Open your browser (Safari) and navigate to http://www.rprepository.com
  2. Somewhere on the screen (typically the top, near the URL bar, or near the bottom -- depending on what version you have) you'll see an icon like an arrow trying to run away from a square. Tap it. It will open an options menu.
  3. Amongst all the options, find "Add to Home Screen" and tap it.
  4. Tap "add"
  5. Choose where you want your shiny new icon to appear!

Add a bookmark to Windows 8 Metro

  1. Using Internet Explorer, navigate to http://www.rprepository.com
  2. Click the "tools" icon at the top right corner of the browser. It looks like a little gear.
  3. From the menu, chose "Add site to Start Screen" option, and the RPR will be pinned to your metro start screen. Easy peasy!

And there you go! Fast access to your favorite site at your fingertips. :)

The way I access RPR on my windows phone is aallwaayyss leaving a tab open in my web browser with RPR open and setting the forum or chat I'm in to send me an email when someone posts. With my hotmail notifications set to vibrate I always know when I have an update in an RP :D

Personally, I don't need another app clogging up my phone. I know I am one of only many who can not afford a phone with lots of storage. I very much so enjoy how accessible the site is over my phone - it's such a rare treat.

There's no argument that it could be helpful or have cool benefits. Unfortunately, I just do not have the resources to build and maintain multiple app versions in addition to the site itself.

It's great having a shortcut (even though my android Google chrome browser saves the last page I was on) but I believe that a downloadable app version can be helpful. I do a bit of app design and development, and would be happy to volunteer some basic and fluid concepts just let me know

Hey thanks! This was really cool, I didn't know I could do this. I just did it and this will definitely help. I hate having to go to RPR from my browser every day.

XD for quite some time I've had the RPR icon saves on my iPod homepage like an app. :3 always made things easier than typing in everything!
