Hi there! I had a question regarding character creation.
Are we limited to creating original characters? Or can we make character profiles for canon characters? For example, I'm a huge Marvel fan. If I wanted to make a profile for an existing character, is that OK to do?

Having profiles for canon characters is allowed
I tried to look for specific rules regarding this but I didn't find them... However, I've seen canon character profiles like this and even have a few myself (though they're anonymous) and I've never been given heck for it, so I'm pretty sure it's okay.
On mine I have a small disclaimer making it clear that it's not my OC, but again, I don't think that's a rule, it's just a thing that I do for clarity and transparency. I'd recommend doing something similar, but hey, I'm not the boss of you :>
If there is a specific help article about it that I missed, maybe someone else can link it

Pretty sure there's no rule against writing canon characters on this site! There's a very small canon rper community on here, but its here.
Thank you both for the help!

I'm late but as long as I'm here, it's okay to have a cannon characters. I also play cannon characters such as; Chie Satonaka from Persona 4, Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy 7, and Yor from Spy x Family. So, I'd say it's okay to have and play cannon characters as they were!

I do write a canon character for a Tour of Duty TV show fanfic I am writing. He is Francis Hockenbury, known to the men in his platoon as 'DocHock'. He was the second medic coming in as a replacement for 'Doc' Matsuda when he was KIA. The challenge of writing canon characters in any genre is to keep things true to canon.
Of course, alt histories can be made up for them, but then are they still a canon character, or just a shell of them? In my case, the TV series ended leaving Doc Hock's fate up in the air, so I can write his history from that point any way I want.
The long and short of it is it's ok to create and write canon characters!
