Okay so, this is just a genuine question regarding A.I, specifically when you find the perfect reference and realize that it is A.I.

I am thinking of a new character, and of course I hope right on over to Pinterest to see if I can find some inspiration or get a better idea of who I want this character to be both physically and emotionally, etc. Anyway I found one that was perfect. Absolutely perfect, but I could tell that it was A.I, so I did a search to see if I could find the original artist to give the proper credits for it and not to the a.i. long story short I wasnt able to find any original art for it so my question is really just what do/can you do if you've done the research but come up with nothing? I mean its dont want to be shamed for using A.I as a reference when thats how I envision my character, especially if its not something I generated.

If there are other search engines I can use to possibly find the original artist id be more than happy to try them out if anyone knows them.

Here's the piece I was torn up about for reference: Here
If you don't want to use an AI generated picture, and can't afford to commission anyone for that perfect likeness, you don't have to have a face claim. Really! I actually prefer abstract representations and written descriptions to help me imagine a character. However, just sticking with the default gray square is not, eh, inspiring.

Icons for my characters come from works on the National Gallery of Art, which has tons of work in the public domain (sort for "image download available") that's just free for you to use! There's Wikimedia Commons and Unsplash, great for background images and for assembling moodboards.

Heck, there's following artists that you like on social media and shooting them a message asking to use their stuff for roleplaying/to represent your character. There is ArtStation (with elaborate filters to exclude AI generated/modified works). I've seen people make their OCs in video games, Picrew and HeroForge, and take a screenshot and use that, which I really think is so creative ╰(*´︶`*)╯

There are so many fun options out there for you that don't involve using AI if you don't want to do that.
