Jooters Blaccat is your character's younger brother, with yours being an older teen to adult. You two hail from the cold northern land of Magicka, coming from a line of sorcerers and warriors from the southeast of the kingdom.
You lived normal, upper middle class lives under the watchful eyes of your gentle father, Adam Blaccat, and your loving mother, Amy Blaccat.
One day, war broke out between Magicka and the southern Holy Empire after the Archbishop of the empire attacked Magicka with his private military. Adam left to fight in the war, and even managed to escape when the capital city, Academy Gate, was captured. He was later a part of the elite force of knights who fought to recapture the capital.
However, he ascended into legend when the forces of Magicka were surrounded on all sides by the Archbishop's forces. All seemed lost until he bravely sprung into action and risked his own life to separate the Archbishop from the rest of his military, creating a distraction and letting Magicka win the battle and retake Academy Gate.
Everyone says that his life was lost in that battle, but no one watched him die. He must have. He fought Archbishop Pyratus, the most powerful pyromancer ever born, one-on-one, and lost.
... But a body was never found. Even after lengthy searches. No signs of him were ever discovered. Adam Blaccat was supposed to be rewarded handsomely for his service, but since he was presumed dead, he money was to be transfered to Amy instead, but one day she just... Left and never returned.
And so, left with nothing and unable to pay for anything, you and Jooters had to leave their home and, with nothing else they were able to do, move to the Great Woods and begin to search for their parents, on the infinitesimally small off chance they were still alive somewhere on the continent. Along the way, they get into situations and adventures just on the off chance they get one step closer.
