"Could be." He said, turning his gaze back to the ocean. "Maybe there's an island out there." He looked back to the house, wondering if there was a boat in the garage. The house was owned by a family of sea witches, there should be a boat, right?
"Did Mom say anything about a boat? There should be one though, right? Maybe if we find it, we could go looking for whoever put this note out." He suggested.
Jasmine (played by Kointhskii)

"A boat?" Jasmine repeated as she eyed the house. She glanced back to the stone steps and then out to the water, retracing steps that previous owners may have taken, "Its very likely." She nodded.

She took the lead back to the house and walked around to the garage. She pulled on the handle to lift to garage door but it didnt budge. With a huff Jasmine turned to Jamie, "Its either really heavy, locked, or stuck."

"Here, I'll try," Jamie moved to the handle and tried to force it open in vain. The door wouldn't move.
"Maybe there's a door in the house that leads to it?" He said. "We should be able to open it from the inside, as long as it's just locked. Otherwise, we might have to try to work a spell to open it." He scratched the back of his neck and readjusted the sunglasses on top of his head. He hadn't seen anything that might have been a door to the garage when he'd been inside, but he might have missed it; the spell books had caught the majority of his attention.

Jasmine perked up at the mention of a spell, "Well maybe magic is why its stuck. What if theres something really important inside?" Her eyes lit up at the mention of finding a long lost secret.

"Did you find any spellbooks?" She gasped in excitement, gripping Jamies arm excitedly.

"I bet theres a spell to open something locked!" She jumped to the side and bound into the house at the chance to see the library.

It had to have the answers.

"Of course there's books," he said, though he had to call it to her back as she bounded up into the house. He followed her in and strode into the library. He pulled off the rest of the sheets off of the furniture and the shelves. There were really too many books to go through to find one specific spell, but he thought that it wouldn't hurt to try. If it took too long for his liking, he could always try something else. Looking at all of the books, he thought it'd be good to have a spell that could help you find the information you needed without having to read through hundreds of books for hours upon hours. Maybe he'd come across such a spell, but he could always make it himself.
Just to be sure, he peeked into the few possible rooms that could house a door to the garage: the kitchen and a utility closet of sorts that held the washer. There was no dryer in this room, but there were several tall poles leaning in one corner connected by long lines and a basket of clothes pins on a shelf. Both of the rooms didn't contain the door to the garage, so they really would have to find a spell to either unlock or force the garage door open. Jamie went back to the library and took up a few books of different sizes and ages. He laid them in a semi-circle on the dusty floorboards and lay down so he could go through multiple books at once.

Jasmine eyed the giant plush chair she knew they would have in the library and fought the urge to sink into it, right now she needed a spell. She glanced over every book on the shelf until she found the one she thought would be most useful and pulled out a basic tome titled, 'Components of Sea Magick'

She sat down with her legs crossed on the arm of the chair and set the book in her lap, flipping through page after page. She paused on a page with a hand drawn picture of a Sea Witch bottle.

"Hey, maybe theres a sea witch bottle around here somewhere." She glanced around, "If so, we should find a bottle full of sand, shells, driftwood, and seaweed."

"Isn't that for protection, though?" Jamie said, looking up at his sister from where he rested on the floor. His mind was still wired to find a spell of unlocking or un-sticking. He'd looked through spells of transfiguration, charms for luck, and potions of truth. He had found a spell of moving that might work, but he wasn't sure if it would be enough to counter the spell that might have been cast on the garage door.
Jasmine (played by Kointhskii)

Jasmine rolled her eyes as she set the book off to the side, "It is for protection, but if someone added Murex shells to it, its possible to create a preservation spell, maybe to keep the garage sealed." She began searching around the room for anything of the sort.

"Did you find anything useful?" She glanced to his circle of books.

"A moving spell, but I'm not sure it would work if the door is sealed with magic. It can't hurt to try, though." He held the book up to her, his finger on the paragraph containing the spell. It wasn't a very long incantation and was crowded in between a few others.
"That makes sense with the murex shells. It might be buried somewhere near the garage," he suggested. He wasn't very keen to digging beneath the gravel in front of the garage and he didn't want to do it just to have their efforts be fruitless. He stood up and brushed the dust off of his pants and shirt and made a mental note to take a dust mop to the floor as soon as possible.

"A moving spell?" Jasmine took the book from his hands and glanced over the spell and nodded as it looked fairly easy.

She walked outside to the front of the garage with it, glanced at the floor around her and made a soft hum. There was a lot of gravel laid down and as she traced it to the edges of the garage, she found that instead of stopping, the gravel continued under the ground.

"What the hell? I guess my theory is out of the question." She brushed her hair out of her face and shrugged with a grin.

"Moving spell it is." She nodded.

"Alright, I'll try it." He said as he stepped up beside her to peer at the book. He recited the short incantation, which he now supposed might not be strong enough. The door jiggled against the ground as he spoke, so he took a deep breath and said the spell again twice, one after another. The door lifted off of the ground about a foot and then dropped when he stopped speaking.
"I think we might need a longer spell, but lets try reciting it one after another together several times and see if we can't open it that way." He said to Jasmine.
Jasmine (played by Kointhskii)

Jasmines face broke into grin as the door creaked open, like it was held together by long since rusted hinges and only the excitement in her eyes remained as the door slammed shut again.

"I agree. If we say it together the spell will be stronger. Two witches are always better than one." She nodded with a smile. She stepped up beside her brother and looked at the words on the book. A few seemed a little hard to pronunciation, but she figured if she followed her brothers lead she would figure out the words.

She began reading the words until they flowed comfortably from her mouth and she watched the door open again. She looked to her brother, smiling through the incantation as she repeated it over and over.

Jamie recited the words repeatedly with her until the door stopped complaining and wouldn't move up anymore. With the door now completely open, he could see the thick layers of dust and rust on the metal of the door; it must not have been replaced since it was installed.
"Ugh, looks like we'll have to replace the door. I dunno if anyone'll help us cover the costs." He said, scratching the back of his neck. He stepped inside the musty garage and saw that there was, indeed, a boat. A wooden row boat.
"This oughta be fun, looking around the ocean and having to paddle this thing," he muttered, absently kicking it and making the oars fall off the top onto the gravel below. "Why don't I row and you look for an island or something? Think you can remember how far we get from the house?" He asked Jasmine.
He looked over his shoulder at the sky; it wasn't cloudy, but he didn't think it would hurt to make a quick protection spell before embarking on what he was now realizing was probably a futile attempt at finding someone lost in the ocean. People who were lost in the ocean were sometimes never found, even by the coast guard, and he doubted the would have much more luck. The ocean was a fickle mistress.
Jasmine (played by Kointhskii)

"Yeah, this door has some serious rust action going on." Jasmine agreed. She eyed the wooden rowboat with a smirk on her face. She watched the oars fall and noticed intricate carvings on the side of the boat, like little waves and sea shells. She traced the design and wiped her finger on her shorts as they came away covered in dust.

Jasmine perked up as Jamie suggested she look for the island while he rowed and she nodded excitedly, "Okay, lets go - that rowboat looks a little heavy, think you can carry it on your own or do you want help?" She shifted her weight, excited to get back into the ocean and almost wanted to run ahead of him, but she would be helpful id he needed it.

"Some help would be great." He said while putting an oar under his arm. He turned the boat over and grasped the edges of one end and waited for Jasmine to take hold of the other.
He briefly wondered if they'd be able to find this lost person. The ocean is vast, not to mention that they were new here. He hoped they would be able to find this person and get them and themselves home safely. He decided that before they set off into the ocean, he would ask a quick wish of the goddess. Perhaps she would help them.
Jasmine (played by Kointhskii)

Jasmine lifted the other half of the boat and found that it was surprisingly light, despite the fact that she still had to carry it with both arms.

In her defense, everything was lighter underwater.

She pushed the boat a bit, jabbing it at Jamies legs to make him go faster. She wanted to be in the water already.

She glanced out over the edge where she could see a glimpse of the water, and wondered where the hell an island could possibly be hiding out there, and began brainstorming ways to find it.

Her eyes lit up as a thought jumped into her mind.

"Wait here-" Jasmine dropped her half of the boat and turned on her heels to bound back to the car. She reached in and grabbed the bag labeled 'extra materials'. She poured it out on the car seat and found exactly what she needed - an abalone shell and ground up fish scales.

Jasmine dusted the scales onto the mother-of-pearl interior and cupped the shell in her hand before running back to Jamie.

"An abalone will show us the way to something that we seek, and fish scales will give us attunement with the sea." She grinned as she held it out to Jamie.

The boat let out a cah-thunk! when Jasmine suddenly let go of it. Jamie set his half of it down gently and watched her run back towards the house. With a sigh, he took his flannel off and set it over the stone wall overlooking the little beach. There were plenty of shells and seaweed, so he could see how this was the optimal place to send young sea witches so they could learn on their own.
As Jasmine ran back down to him, he shoved his sunglasses back to the top of his head to see what she had brought back. He smiled when he saw what was in her hands.
"That's genius! How would we work it to help us?" He took the shell from her, careful not to spill the ground up scales. He had seen spells similar to this, but he wasn't sure how to create this one to fit their needs.
Jasmine (played by Kointhskii)

Jasmine gently grabbed the shell from Jamies hand and rolled her eyes.

"We follow it." She said simply. She picked up her half of the boat and proceeded to walk towards the water, making sure not to put a hole in the boat before they even got out to sea.

"Since the shell has an attunement with the sea, it should allow the shell to travel where it chooses." She walked into the water up to her waist and waved Jamie into the water.

"Ill have to swim since shells dont float, but Ill make sure to come up and guide you." She grinned as she stared back at her brother, the shell cupped in her hands above the water, "Are you ready?"
