Solian glances towards the approaching guards, and quickly turns to motion to Atlas to take off his collar. When that task is accomplished, Solian quickly turns back around, just in time to deflect the energy pike being stabbed at him. It shocked, and he had to take a step back.
It was actually beneficial that he did stand back, as he used that extra step for the extra impetus of jabbing his hand into (poor) Jim. The idiot had left himself wide open after Solian deflected that clumsy stab.
He trusted that Atlas could deal with the other guard- after all, he was immune to electricity, based on what he was told. As for the bird-girl... she couldn't hold off the robot forever. He needed to finish the guard off quickly so he could help her.
