(chopped off from his shoulders in a couple of seconds) As you soon discovered your boss wasn't the only one on the line. The Senator of Syyra Star Cluster, a valuable industrial sector had also been assassinated identical method and exactly same time. The pary of Unified Idra then made a declaration that these terrorist acts must and will be thoroughly being investigated and the new minister of Security and same time responsible for the investigation and punishment would be no other than YOU!
The country and government you are working is communist republic where crime, corruption and power abuse runs rampant and connections are more valuable than gold.

Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.
Far future, perhaps interstellar travel (faster than light)
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
Romance isn't outright desired, but can happen if we decide the characters are perfect for each other. The romance won't be important to the overall plot.
