Okay, so since I have made most of my characters I've learned how to properly do genders for my characters. I know that you can't change that once the character is made, so in order to fix sone of my characters I'll have to delete and remake the characters. The thing is, I'm in several one-on-one rps in pms. How will deleting and remaking these characters effect those pms.
1) Will I lose access to those pms if I don't post as myself or another character first?
2) Will the replies as that character be deleted?

You can go back and change everything about your character, including their gender. There's never a need to delete them, unless you want to clear up a slot to make an entirely new character. Now, to answer your questions:
1. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe you would. (unless there's a system where it automatically adds your user profile).
2. No, they won't. You'll still be able to view them.

MSochist is totally right about everything being changeable after creation! 
You won't lose access to PMs sent/addressed to deleted characters. We keep a nominal record of all characters even after deletion, so we can still match you up with stuff that was meant for you. You will be able to go into them and respond as yourself or as a different character if you want to continue the conversation.
