I just joined the site today and created my first character. I've seen some roleplays that interest me, and I've had some ideas of my own, but I'm not quite sure how to start a roleplay with someone. May someone please explain that to me?
There are a few ways to find a RP!
1) Head over to the Looking for RP forum, browse the threads or start your own.
2) Use the Find RP tool. The content of this tool is drawn from the Looking for RP forum, but it's an easy way filter for RPs of certain genres and styles which interest you.
3) Head straight to the IC Forums, and look for one which is marked as open. Most RPers don't mind if you just jump straight in, but if the RP has been active for quite a long time, it may be polite to ask OOCly before hand. (Or you could make your own thread for people to join!)
