Ara Caszo (played by Riik)

Ara Caszo is a Talz. A particularly intelligent Talz. Though the stall he has recently set up in Mos Espa on Tatooine is only temporary in a bid to raise enough credits to establish himself on a more reputable world, Ara has already established a reputation as a reliable and skilled engineer. Little did he know that a chance encounter was about to lead to an adventure across the galaxy...

Since the rise of the Empire and the outlawing of podracing, Mos Espa has lost its charm to the criminal world. With Jabba the Hutt losing interest in the city now that the races were halted, the city was slowly transitioning into a new age of peace and law. Slavery was diminishing, the criminal population was thinning and most of the citizens were recovering from a recent attack from Tusken Raiders. Gambling and shady dealing was falling out of fashion, bit by bit being replaced by legitimate business. With this new trend, numerous new business opportunities have opened - and seizing the day was a certain Talz engineer. However, in these uncertain times, with the rebellion in full swing across the galaxy, safety isn't guaranteed; and regardless of whether one had a taste for conflict, there was always a chance for it to fall into one's lap. Such was soon to be the case for Ara Caszo and an unwitting visitor to his store...

Looking for a partner for this Star Wars scenario! The format is 1-on-1 and based on Legends continuity. It's set during the Galactic Civil War, shortly after the Battle of Yavin. Non-force-sensitive characters are preferred, as are players aged 16+.

Additional rules are:

- No overtly sexual content.

- No heavy romance (there will be none between main characters; though I will allow mild romantic interactions with background characters as long as they don't break the previous rule).

- Average post length of 2 paragraphs. General minimum of 1. Less only on very rare occasions when there's no other option. Expect the occasional post from me that's longer than that; particularly at the opening few posts, which might reach as high as 10 paragraphs depending on what needs to be described (but don't feel forced to match that).
Magic 40%
Magic is rare. Some of the players might have it. There may be sages or other magical figures that could be sought out for tutelage.
Technology 90%
Far future, perhaps interstellar travel (faster than light)
Combat 50%
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.

Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred.

Hello, this seems to be a very interesting role play. I believe I might use Katalu Cruk for this (if we agree on doing it, and I will keep Force use to a minimum, since the character despises their ability of it). Personally, GCW would be perfered, since I have no knowledge of Legends.

Legends is the old Expanded Universe, the Galactic Civil War is an event in the Star Wars timeline, therefore they're not mutually exclusive. The main reason I'm using Legends is that I've got over 40 pre-Disney Star Wars novels on my bookshelf, and when Disney made that all non-canon, I couldn't be bothered researching into the replacement lore (and honestly found what I had seen to be pretty disappointing).

Honestly, whether it's Legends or Canon won't affect much of the RP, only that I might make references to events that are no longer considered canon, along with other background fluff and ships and stuff. It might affect the plot, but probably won't require much knowledge of it. The main thing is the background of the talz species, because the 2008 The Clone Wars animated series (which is still canon) contradicted a few things (including the cantina scene of A New Hope) that were pre-established about the species before the series began. I'll be using the version of the Talz language introduced in A New Hope and referenced in the 2003 Clone Wars cartoon. Because of TCW(2008)'s position in straddling between Legends and Canon, the talz on Orto Plutonia and their growly language would still exist in the RP, but as an offshoot of the species with their own separate language.

If you're fine with all that, then we can discuss further. I see no issue with your character.

I’m personally the same when it comes to the pre-Disney, as I still personally accept that as cannon. You are more than welcome to reference those events (I personally am not a fan of some of the replacement lore myself). I must warn, I will need to go and rewatch the 2003 cartoon, since I watched it ages ago when I was very very little, maybe 6. I’ve never quite been exposed to Legends, which is why I simply have no knowledge of it. I’ll go and do some reading on it if you do want to use Legends.

I’ll for sure familiarize myself with the Talz for the sake of this rp and most likely future ones. It’ll be quite useful, after all. I’m sure Mandalorians are pretty well known, so I don’t believe you’ll have to do any research for them.

I have read most of Karen Traviss's Star Wars books and used to regularly check up on her development of the Mandalorian language, so yeah I know plenty (though my knowledge might be a bit rusty as I haven't been as interested in Star Wars since Disney). :P

Honestly, the 2003 Clone Wars cartoon doesn't really show much of the talz apart from featuring a talz Jedi toward the end... he doesn't speak much, but here's an audio sample from Wookieepedia. It's pretty similar to the sounds made from the talz in the cantina scene in A New Hope and completely different from the growling and snarling featured in 2008's The Clone Wars animated series.

Anyways, I'll drop you a PM and we can discuss this RP further.

Alright! Thank you for telling me that, or else I would have rewatched most of it for no reason (even if I do need to rewatch it). Just a heads up, she doesn’t speak much Mandalorian, since she was taken by Jedi (in her original history) after becoming an orphan due to droids raiding her parents second home in Naboo (where a clone named Machine brought her back with him).
