The crew of the Barloz-class freighter Cockroach are private investigators, freelance bounty hunters and general mercenaries working with various regional authorities and Republic law enforcement departments. Haunting the outer rim chasing down criminals and ne'er-do-wells, the goofy duo and their four-armed mascot have amassed a reputation amongst their clients as an effective - if somewhat eccentric - arm of justice. Now on a case of mild importance, they find themselves oddly in need of aid...

Players aged 16+ are preferred. If you're a year or so younger than that and feel you're more mature than average, we can discuss things, but there will be extra limits set on RP to keep everyone comfortable regarding the age gap.
This is a multi-paragraph RP. If you feel you can't maintain a pace of about 2 paragraphs average per post, this might not be for you. Also, expect long posts from me early on - don't feel obligated to keep up with them and don't expect them to persist throughout; it'd be mostly due to me setting the scene.
NOTE: This Star Wars RP is based primarily on Legends material. As it is set during the same time frame as Episode 1, it shouldn't change much; the main thing being the background of the Talz species (and more specifically their language. See Ara's profile for more info on that).

Ara stood by the landing strut of the Cockroach, firmly hitting the metal structure with a large wrench. "I am not happy," He buzzed and chirped in the native Talz language. "This job should be not bad. But it is we cannot do it."
"Remind me to book a trip to your homeworld so you can learn to speak your language properly," Xá replied, hanging off the landing strut from his position pushed up against the ship's hull, staring into the socket the strut extended from. "Or get a cybernetic vocabulator so you can actually speak basic... of course it could also be the quality of your teaching that made that sound so odd..."
In a huff of frustration, the bulky near-seven-foot, four-eyed yeti-like biped folded his arms. "Just tell your see."
Xá sighed. "There doesn't seem to be much damage. I think the shot missed anything vital. Apparently that guy's aim was so bad, even his miss missed..." Hopping down from the Cockroach, Xá landed gracefully on the ground. A specimen of an unknown species, Xá was an even more unusual sight than his Talz friend. "Did you see where he went - in GSL this time, please."
Ara tooted a grunt of displeasure, before producing various hand gestures with his mighty white-furred arms. I didn't see where he went. I'm not even sure he was related to our target. I think we're back at stage one.
With a shrug, Xá looked up at his partner thoughtfully. There was almost two whole feet of height difference between the two furry critters. Where as Ara was draped in thick fur covering a body of substantial muscle and adorned by an oddly insectoid-like face, Xá was a fine-furred slender creature with mammal-like features and a general appearance that to a human eye would look quite child-like. "Alright, you go coax Cysgod out... looks like we've got a criminal underbelly to investigate."
As Ara disappeared up the boarding ramp, Xá gazed out across the large open dock. He couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement for the challenge that lay ahead of him. It was time to put all of his detective skills to the test and crack open this hive of villains.

So I've been a bit inspired by Sam & Max to try my hand at a freelance detective RP. When trying to think of which of my characters I could put together, I had a thought of doing this Star Wars-themed. Given a whole galaxy of planets are available, meaning I could easily introduce my own species, I figured I'd use Xá as a member of an unusual never-before-seen species. I figured I'd pair him up with Ara, my Talz, given he's already designed for Star Wars, and throw in Cysgod as a mascot (with the magic stuff removed).
I'm looking for a partner who can join the team, either just for this one job or as a longer-term member, depending on how the RP goes. This will be 1-on-1 in terms of players, though I'll be using 3 (well... 2.5) main characters. It's fairly open what you can use as a character... from a member of the local law enforcement to a Jedi hunting the same criminal as the crew of the Cockroach to a criminal from a rival gang of the guy the crew are after.
Magic is rare. Some of the players might have it. There may be sages or other magical figures that could be sought out for tutelage.
Far future, perhaps interstellar travel (faster than light)
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.

Sure, seems fine. Are you fine with the RP being set pre-Clone Wars? Given the Empire is mentioned in their background. If not, I can potentially change the era, it's just the Episode 1 timeframe is preferred (seems like the best time for a detective RP, given the state of the Republic during that period).
