"The previous night was odd....almost too surreal for me. I awoke from my sleep shaken and stirred with horror as I finished suffering through yet another terrible flashback. The nightmares had been a regular part of my life since I was wounded fighting for my beloved Kaiser and Fatherland at Verdun. What a world that was."
Matt Rosenthal, 37, had been born the only child of Siegfried and Anne Rosenthal on April 5th, 1896 in the comfortable district of Grunewald via Berlin. His father was a successful shopkeeper who specialised in Antique books among other things. As for his mother little is known of her employment or anything of that particular nature. At 18 he left the local university to volunteer for the Kaiser's army. during his service at the front he was wounded on two seperate occassions at Verdun which resulted in him being decorated for valour by his Kaiser with an EK I class along with a wound badge. He returned to Germany a traumatized man.
