Cysgod (played by Riik)

This is an RP based on the SCP concept. Expect aspects of horror, supernatural, action and mystery in this RP. Knowledge of the SCP setting is not required for this RP.

It is midnight in the residential district of an urbanised town. Rain is falling. The densely-packed terraced houses sit silent, bathed by the glow of street lamps the occasional light from the window of a still-active household. A fairly lengthy alley fills the gap between two gardenless apartment buildings bordering a small run-down unlit park surrounded by tall walls shielding the back yards of other buildings. Though the apartments are only three storeys high, they make up for it in breadth, allowing the alley to be long enough to be shrouded in shadows. Graffiti covers the walls, which combined with the lower-class nature of the surrounding buildings promote the likelihood that the alley is typically unsafe at night. The area has the distinct stench of urine and trash.

Despite the nature of the alley and the park - which was perhaps used as a communal space for the surrounding buildings until the town's council gave up its funding - it was also a fantastic shortcut, given the long unbroken rows of houses and their gardens sitting adjacent to the apartment buildings. Depending on the angle of arrival and destination, it could save up to ten minutes of travel - vital in the pouring rain.

Rainfall masked distant noises, whilst itself clattering against metal bins, plastic drainpipes and the cold, hard cityscape that contained them. For a while, there had been no signs of the downfall evolving into a storm. But as a certain individual stepped into the alley, that began to change. A flash of light indicated the onset of lightning, momentarily lighting up the path ahead. A figure stood ahead in the darkness - small, bipedal, made unusual from the silhouette of two large pointed ears and an extra pair of arms. After a moment, the creature's eyes flickered open, pure-red shining orbs staring down the length of the alley, seemingly creating their own dim light. Supported by a pair of spindly digitigrade legs, the creature slowly took a step forward...

READ FIRST:

Players aged 16+ are required. Because of dark themes planned for this RP, this is a hard limit. This includes horror themes and questions of ethics revolving around certain organisations. Note that these themes will be toned down for partners under 18; but if you are over 18 and find things might be getting too dark for you, just say something and I can tone it down.

This is a multi-paragraph RP. If you feel you can't maintain a pace of about 2 paragraphs average per post, this might not be for you. Also, expect long posts from me early on - don't feel obligated to keep up with them and don't expect them to persist throughout; it'd be mostly due to me setting the scene.

KNOWLEDGE OF SCP IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS RP. For those who don't know what SCP is, it's basically a sort of supernatural universe consisting of various anomalous entities that are not necessarily canonically connected. Sort of like semi-connected creepypastas all set in the same setting.

Psuedo-SCP File for Cysgod

Item #: SCP-████

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: The scope of SCP-████'s abilities are currently unknown. As the anomaly has yet to display signs of any particularly destructive abilities or mind-altering capabilities, a containment room with lead-lined walls is recommended until studies can take place. An airlock system of access is required due to the subject's ability to elude capture.

Description: SCP-████ is a bipedal creature approximately 93cm in height. It is covered head-to-toe in soft violet fur that covers a layer of pitch-black skin. The anomaly's somewhat weak digitigrade legs struggle to support its weight for long periods, resulting in it preferring to travel via hexapedal locomotion with the aid of its four powerful arms. The anomaly appears to have entirely red eyes that are capable of emitting dim light, which is believed to be involved in a capacity for near-perfect night vision. A pair of small horns protrude from the anomaly's head.

Despite its long pointed ears, SCP-████'s facial features more closely resemble musteloid features, with a shorter snout more reminiscent of the red panda. Whether there is any relationship to this superfamily of mammals is yet to be determined (though is believed unlikely).

The anomaly appears capable of defending itself using its powerful arms to apply forces comparable to a healthy athletic human male, which is impressive for being of its stature. It is also a skilled climber and is capable of jumping long distances. It typically avoids confrontation unless cornered or provoked, in which case it is known to use [DATA EXPUNGED]. It is for this reason why containment is a comparatively high priority in relation to its impact on the general public, given the capability for widespread human casualties.

Thus far, SCP-████ has not been observed feeding and its diet is entirely unknown. Its sharp teeth suggest carnivorous tendencies, yet it has not attempted to consume agents killed in action in the attempt to retrieve it.

Additional: Though SCP-████ has yet to prove itself a danger to the general population, it has thus far avoided capture by Foundation task forces, though has been sighted several times by surveillance. The Foundation is considering using more advanced methods including use of greater force and increased task force numbers in order to apprehend it.

So this idea is heavily based on SCP fiction, which I've been recently getting into. I've only recently really started reading into SCP, so I'm no veteran on the subject, but it has kept me up 2 nights in a row, so I've read a comparatively large amount in such a short space of time. In the universe of this RP scenario, only certain aspects of the SCP universe will be drawn upon - mainly articles that don't involve world-ending possibilities, religious references, ridiculous powers or secret military projects that in reality would have been used by now if they existed. Custom anomalies will also be added if and when appropriate to the narrative.

A list of SCP entries that definitely exist in the RP is linked below. Note that some of them might have certain sections omitted either because I feel they'll break the theme of the RP world or that I feel the SCP works better left vague and unexplained in certain areas. This list isn't exhaustive and will be added to when I get round to reading more articles. You don't need to read these articles, as most of them are unlikely to appear in the RP, and if they do appear, they'll likely be introduced as necessary. The list is mostly for those who know about the SCP universe and want to draw upon the lore. Any link to an omitted SCP entry made by an entry on this list should be considered non-canon information for the purposes of this RP.

Confirmed SCPs

Note: Above link is a txt document, and as such doesn't link directly to the SCP articles. I tried a html doc with hyperlinks, but dropbox doesn't support displaying them. To find a specific SCP page on the SCP wiki, simply go to the URL http://www.scp-wiki.net/ and add scp-xxx to the end, where xxx is the number of the SCP. Alternatively, you can use the site's own navigation function, but if you're looking for specific articles, editing the URL is actually quicker than scrolling through the lists or using the search function.

I'm looking for a partner who can play either:

1) A civilian coming across Cysgod and getting wrapped up in the Foundations attempt to capture the poor creature.

2) A member of the Foundation who can then either choose to defect and hide Cysgod or capture and observe them.

Though not preferred, I'm open to discussions with people who want to play as an SCP themselves (or an individual in possession of an SCP). This will depend upon what kind of powers/abilities are involved and whether they'd unbalance the sort of on-the-run supernatural horror themes involved.
Magic 20%
Plausible legends of ancient magic, but current magic is not common.
Technology 50%
Modern
Combat 50%
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.

Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred.

Wow, this sounds really fun and you're clearly very well written and knowledgable on your SCPs! I'm also a fan of the SCP Universe, though maybe not as diehard as most, i certainly know enough about it to partake in such a roleplay! I think i have justthe character for something like this, though it's up to you if she fits with your theme.

I'd be intending on using Jinx in this roleplay, a (biologically speaking) normal human being, other than the fact that she has trans-dimensional teleportation capabilities involving an old eldritch entity, Similar to SCP-507. Theres several key differences obviously, and if it suits your fancy you can check them out here.

If anything seems to be a problem, i'm pretty open to communication and minor alterations to make things work. Lemme know if it sounds like a match!

If by knowledgeable you mean knowledgeable of 1 through 50, then I guess x3 (well I've read the heritage stuff as well, hence some of them being on the list).

As stated in the OP, though not preferred, I can accommodate characters with powers for this scenario... and whilst I don't think your character's powers would be powerful enough to cause a problem to what I'm going for, there is one thing I feel should be discussed.

I'm going to assume your character won't be a member of the Foundation in the RP (given you probably would have stated as much in your reply), thus I'm going to elaborate on my preferences for a non-Foundation partner, particularly because I have a slight concern about the mention of an eldritch entity. Ideally, I'd prefer a partner's character in options 1 and 3 to have no knowledge about SCP anomalies (or very limited in the case of 3), mostly because of how that improves the horror elements. I'm not saying I'm fully against there being some eldritch entity involved in your character's background... I'd just prefer it to be the case that when weird stuff is encountered, the shock element is still there. My worry is that your character might have some acclimatisation to experiencing anomalous events and entities. I'd prefer there to be some sort of compromise involved to retain the shock value (such as your character believing herself to be alone when it comes to anomalous powers, and the events obtaining said powers being an isolated incident).

That's not to say I'm going to outright say no if you insist your character has some level of knowledge about the supernatural, I'd just prefer to exhaust other options first before agreeing to it.
Your assumption that Jinx is not foundation personnel is correct, and despite her abilities she has no knowledge whatsoever on the SCP foundation or any of the anomalies contained within. She's open minded you could say, but has not encountered any kind of supernatural entity up to her current point other than a singular eldritch being and obviously, herself. In short, she is not used to meeting and seeing other supernatural creatures.

Jinx is a very old character, however since i've updated her she may as well be new, meaning her abilities have only been gained recently enough that she's very new to the world of possibilities.

As for her abilities, there are enough drawbacks built in to discourage her from using them unless in the most dire of situations, i'm certain they won't interfere with the plots you have in mind and if there is a possibility, you can always discuss it with me! ^-^

Alrighty, I think we can safely carry this discussion forward into private messages. I'll drop you one in a bit so we can fine-tune the details before starting.
