Chapter 1: Change
Sarah POV
Hi, My name is Sarah. I’m sixteen and I live in Texas with my brother Michael and my friends Ben, JD, Daniel, and Eliza. We all have superpowers. “How did you get them?” you may ask. Well, here’s how it happened.
~TO THE BEGINNING~
I was with Eliza at our apartment playing Battlefront on my Xbox One when the phone rang.
“I’ll get it.” I sighed. So I put my controller down, got up and grabbed my phone.
”Hello,” I said, “Who is this?”
”H̷̪̑͆͛ȩ̵̣̫̮̽̉̄̚͝͝ ̵̱̱͖͈͙̈́̓̿̚Ḯ̴̱̮͕̠̾͑ṣ̵͖͍̯̻̾̀̋ ̸̛̮̯̹̝̺̋̆̓̚͘̕C̴̰̥̥̦̰͓̒͋̌̈́ǫ̶̛͉̪̆̎̅̋͌̇͠M̶̩̺̽̓̀̊͆̃͂͝ǐ̸̭̻͚͈̗̤̌̚͠Ǹ̶̝̥̦̪̘͕͓͍̓͋͘g̸͍͕͎̮͒̾̑̈̓͂͗̚ͅ...” a raspy voice mumbled through the receiver, ”P̷̢͓̜̻̝̾̌̌̽͜r̴̩̬͕͛̋̽̔́͛̕o̷̠̥̘̼̹̮͚̟͋̓t̴͕̳̻̮̝͊̃͗͝é̵̝̞͇̠̍̀̇̀̂̀͝ĉ̵̡͓̘͎͙̮̊̉͌̿t̵̨̫̰̓͒̀ ̸̜͕̮̻̲͔̤̈́͛͝ỳ̴̯̬̺̣̬̱ͅo̶̳̻͕̻̗̭̯̩̓̍̓̀̅û̸̝̫̝̻̝̤̩̂̅́̉͗̆r̵̛̹̠̰͒̎͋̍̕̚ś̷̰͓͙̣͋̌ͅe̶̼͎͓̟̖͂̌̑͗̑̊͘͘ͅl̷̞̗͑͗̀͊ṿ̶̧͎͕͚̥͂̑è̴̢̨͕̥͇̠͜s̷̮͚̤̬̯͌̎͑̓̎̕,̵̛̤̱̳̹͂̀̕ ̴̣͖̻͊͂H̸͓̪̠̺̣̉̋̎̐̀ȇ̵̯̜̣͔͇̟̣̫̆̀͒̂̕͠͠ ̷̛̣͖̯̇̋̽͒͘ͅĮ̶͖͖̘̭̟͚͑s̷͇͐̔͊ ̷̥̰̦̝̪̪͗̐͑͋͂̄ͅC̷̹̹̆̄̾̐̅̾ơ̵̱̣̤̍͋Ḿ̴̧͍̞̹̬̳į̴̡͕͕͔̺͆Ń̵̨̦̻͓̗̿̈́̂͋́͝ģ̵̣̥̺̊̑̎͠!” All of a sudden, the phone started to heat up and I dropped the phone hurriedly just as it caught fire.
“Ow!” I yelped. Then suddenly, the pile of melted plastic morphed into six crystals. How, I don't know. One of them was yellow, another pink, another white, another orange, another blue, and lastly one that was green .
”What's that?” Eliza asked. I jumped in fright and instinctively slapped her in the face.
“OW!” She shrieked, holding her reddening cheek.
“Sorry,” I mumbled, “You startled me.”
She gave me a look and rolled her neon green orbs, turning her attention back to the crystals. “What are they, Sarah?”
“I don’t know what they are,” I said as I examined them. “The white one is mine.” She said as she grabbed the white one with the weird curved claw thing. “Well then, the pink one is mine,” I said, grasping the crystal I deemed the best.
Suddenly, we heard the door open and the house was filled with my brother and his three guy friends’ boisterous voices.
“Took you guys long enough.” I grumbled.
“Sorry,” Ben said, “We had some traffic on I10.”
”What are those jewel thingies?” Michael asked.
”Magic crystals, I think,” I said.
“Those aren’t just any crystals,” Daniel said excitedly. “Those are dragon crystals!” Eliza giggled and blushed. I snickered quietly and rolled my eyes. Dorky couples, am I right?
“Well, what are we going to do with them?” JD asked.
“I call dibs on the blue one!” Ben shouted, snatching his off the table.
”Then I guess I’ll get the yellow one and Daniel gets the red one!” JD said, handing the fire colored one to Daniel and strapping his lightning colored crystal around his neck.
“I guess I’ll get the leafy green one, then. Thanks, guys.” Michael grumbled. After we all grabbed them, they started glowing. Abruptly, there was a blinding flash of light and we all woke up on the floor an hour later. “What..happened?” I groaned, then yelped in shock as I looked around. Everybody had dragon wings!
”What happened to us?” Eliza asked, spinning in circles as she examined her own silvery white wings.
“I told y’all not to touch the crystals.” Daniel huffed.
“Oh shut up, no you did not! Besides, you took one, too.” I said as I flapped my wings. Later, after we adjusted to our new appearances, we all walked outside and unfurled our wings.
“Race you to the Whataburger on Bandera!” I said to Eliza.
“You’re on!” The silver-haired female growled as she got her wings ready, and took off with a burst of speed. Of course… I knew she would win. Why’d I even bother?
A few minutes later, we were all at Whataburger eating with our wings magically hidden or whatever, when I asked: “Why did we get the crystals, I mean why not someone else?” Then our table got quiet.
“Maybe we were chosen for some reason?” JD suggested. I shrugged and continued eating.
“Maybe,” Daniel sips his soda and then says, “I think something else is happening.”
“Oh yeah? Then what the hell is going on, oh mister mystery?” I said, pissed because he acts like he knows everything just because he’s inhuman.
”I don’t know.” He replied nonchalantly.
I sigh and roll my eyes. Out of nowhere, Eliza leaned in and kissed Daniel’s cheek. Then he starts blushing like crazy as we all laugh.
”That was kinda random, Eli.” I chuckled. She giggled and looked away with a small pink blush. Daniel’s face now held a red-cheeked goofy grin as he glanced over at Eliza, and she stuck her tongue out a little with one eye closed in an attempt to be cute. She was very successful, actually.
Suddenly, there was an explosion and we were all flung across the restaurant. I looked up and saw a figure that looked dragon kinda familiar but his hood covered his face.
He said “Your crystals may protect you now, but soon, I will have them and destroy this world and the next, until I have destroyed the multiverse. You cannot stop me...”
After that, he disappeared. We all stood up groggily, groaning in pain as police sirens sounded in the distance.
“What happened?” I asked.
“Who was that?” Eliza questioned, rubbing her knee and wincing. “He looked familiar.”
“I don’t know, but we need to get out of here before the cops come,” JD said.
“Agreed,” We all said and took off.
~TIMESKIP~
After we got to Eliza’s and I’s apartment, said albino helped get everyone fixed up.
“Hold still, Danny.” She said.
“It hurts.” He complained, wincing as the silver-haired girl gently wiped at some blood on his cheek with the peroxide.
“It’s gonna hurt even more if I don’t clean it!” Eliza huffed, flicked Daniel’s forehead rather harshly and moving on to bandage his cuts.
“Don’t be such a diaper baby,” I said as I stitched up JD’s leg.
“Thanks, babe,” He said.
“Why are me and Michael the only single ones?” Ben complained.
Eliza blushed and dropped the peroxide, causing it to spill all over her foot. She shrieked and leaped away, crashing into the coffee table and smashing it to pieces as she hit the wall.
I ran over to her and asked: “Are you okay?”
Eliza whimpered and Daniel quickly rushed to her side, kneeling beside her trembling form. The ravenette’s reddish-orange crystal glowed, as did the albino’s black and white star-shaped one, and ice began to spread over her burnt leg. Smoke rose from it and enveloped Daniel’s necklace, being absorbed by it instantly. Eliza sighed with relief and slumped unconscious against Daniel, who lifted her up carefully and gently set her on the lavender cotton sofa. Her eyes were closed as she slept and her slow even breaths assured everyone she was okay. And so, the group sat down and began to think about their crystals, Eliza’s safety and who they really could be…
~MEANWHILE; Third POV~
Back at the restaurant the cops investigated and found fire marks everywhere but no foul play.
“I don’t see anything wrong,” A cop said.
“You're right. I don’t see anything, either.” Said another as he picked up some of the burnt wood samples and put it in a bag for scanning later.
But as the cop picked it up it burned through the clear rubber gloves and his hand leaving a big red mark on his fingers.
“You think it’s toxic?” The first police officer suggested. The second officer shrugged.
“No...But I will go to the Doc and check it out later.” He replied The two nodded to each other, satisfied, and left the scene. However, they were unaware of the crystalline sky blue eyes watching them from the shadows eerily…
“Hehe...They're going to play a big part in getting the crystals” He said to his hellhound, Eberron, as he stood obediently right by his side. He gently lay a soft stroke on its fiery mane.
“Eberron...Can you smell them out for your companion?” He asked Eberron, knowing he would either way...The devil himself gave him Eberron as a young pup telling him it was his best other than Cerberus. The bond between Eberron and the hooded man was unbreakable, they were the best of friends.
“Come on boy...Find them and take the crystals from them”The hooded man said in his normal demonic voice to Eberron as the fiery hellhound started to sniff the air and move quickly to where they were, the hooded man following Eberron.
~Back at Sarah's house; Her POV~
“What just happened? I asked.
“You guys are discovering your powers,” Someone said from behind us.
We turned around and I screamed, but JD covered my mouth. We saw some sort of magic animals behind us. A blue wolf or dog or something walks up to us and actually speaks, “I am Hydro and these are my friends Eladora, Chico, Athena, Aphrodite, Elvon, and Fiona.” The phoenix named Fiona cawed quietly and flapped over to Daniel, perching on his shoulder. Chico, a blonde feathered hippogriff, made a playful whimpering noise and padded over to JD. Athena and Aphrodite, the two pink and purple does, cantered up to me and nuzzled my hands. Elvon, a leafy green slightly glowing fox thing, sat beside Michael. Hydro jumped at Ben, licking his hands and face in a friendly way. Eladora mewled and jumped on the sofa, curling up on Eliza’s lap as the 15-year-old slept.
“So… We have pets or something now?” Michael asked curiously, gently petting Elvon’s deep green mane. I shrugged and sat down, lightly scratching Aphrodite and Athena’s chins and ears.
“What dragon kinds of powers do we have?” Ben asked as he petted Hydro.
“I don’t know,” He said,“But I do know y’all have cool weapons and armor and stuff.”
“Ah, dear brothers and sisters good to see you again,” Said a strange dog to our pets.
“You're even letting yourself be called pets, how pathetic. Join me like you did before” He said
“We will never join you...you killed my master last time,” Hydro said back to him almost in a rage, teeth bared in a silent snarl.
“Well you should have listened to me and I wouldn’t have had to take such… drastic measures… Oh, and you remember my master right?” He said as said sky blue eyed male in his black hooded cloak came out of the shadows.
“No...we killed you!” Athena yelled at them.
“Heh...you thought you did...now I will-” He paused, his gaze locked on Eliza’s sleeping face. “Wait...I feel I know this one...” He said as he looked at her curiously, despite the 15-year-old female still sleeping on the sofa completely oblivious to the situation.
During the man’s daze, Eberron slowly walked to Elvon.
“We used to know each other so well Elvon. I still think we're friends, so join me. You remember what we used to be, don’t you?”
“I will never follow you, ever again,” growled Elvon, lips pulled back in a snarl.
“Well I gave you a chance. Now you will die with your master beside his and your friends.” The hellhound calmly said as he walked back to his master, shadragon king his head side to side. “Shame, she would be a powerful ally, as would you.”
Eladora snarled in fury, her wings extended threateningly as she hunched protectively over Eliza’s resting form. Daniel glared at the hooded man and Fiona cawed daringly, glaring fiercely at the hellhound traitor and his foul master.
“You dare try to fight me?” He asked them slowly drawing his one-handed sword on his side. Suddenly, Eliza’s eyes shot open and she leapt off the sofa, landing in a crouch with her wispy white and black wings spread out dangerously behind her. She snarled and her pupils dilated into slits, long pink claws extending from her fingers as a dragon’s spiked tail protruded from a hole in her denim shorts where her tailbone would be.
“Ah! Powerful indeed.” He paused and they could practically hear his smirk. “But not powerful enough.” He pointed his sword at them waiting for a move, but Eliza was too fast and screeched loudly. A large wave of super-enhanced sound escaped her lips, sending the hooded man crashing through the wall. As Eliza went to see the man his hood fell off exposing most of his face. His hair was white as snow and his eyes were a deep sky blue. A small scar lay over his left eye possibly from a past battle. He looked at Eliza with an icy glare.
“Heh...I love a good fight” He smirked at them as he grabbed his sword and pushed it into the ground causing his black magic to temporarily make it very dark. Everyone gazed around unable to see, panic rising within their hearts.
“Sarah!” JD called out.
“JD!Where are you?” I replied, scrambling forward. Suddenly, Eliza screamed and we heard glass shatter, then Michael screamed and more glass shattered.
“Michael!” Ben called out as the lights came back on. “Eliza!” The white-haired guy, his hellhound, Eladora, Eliza, Michael and Elvon were all gone. Nothing remained of them but bloody glass shards and a broken window. They were kidnapped…

“Well I gave you a chance. Now you will die with your master beside his and your friends.” The hellhound calmly said as he walked back to his master, shadragon king his head side to side. “Shame, she would be a powerful ally, as would you.”
Eladora snarled in fury, her wings extended threateningly as she hunched protectively over Eliza’s resting form. Daniel glared at the hooded man and Fiona cawed daringly, glaring fiercely at the hellhound traitor and his foul master.
“You dare try to fight me?” He asked them slowly drawing his one-handed sword on his side. Suddenly, Eliza’s eyes shot open and she leapt off the sofa, landing in a crouch with her wispy white and black wings spread out dangerously behind her. She snarled and her pupils dilated into slits, long pink claws extending from her fingers as a dragon’s spiked tail protruded from a hole in her denim shorts where her tailbone would be.
“Ah! Powerful indeed.” He paused and they could practically hear his smirk. “But not powerful enough.” He pointed his sword at them waiting for a move, but Eliza was too fast and screeched loudly. A large wave of super-enhanced sound escaped her lips, sending the hooded man crashing through the wall. As Eliza went to see the man his hood fell off exposing most of his face. His hair was white as snow and his eyes were a deep sky blue. A small scar lay over his left eye possibly from a past battle. He looked at Eliza with an icy glare.
“Heh...I love a good fight” He smirked at them as he grabbed his sword and pushed it into the ground causing his black magic to temporarily make it very dark. Everyone gazed around unable to see, panic rising within their hearts.
“Sarah!” JD called out.
“JD!Where are you?” I replied, scrambling forward. Suddenly, Eliza screamed and we heard glass shatter, then Michael screamed and more glass shattered.
“Michael!” Ben called out as the lights came back on. “Eliza!” The white-haired guy, his hellhound, Eladora, Eliza, Michael and Elvon were all gone. Nothing remained of them but bloody glass shards and a broken window. They were kidnapped…
