There really is a global conspiracy to keep the population of Earth in check. But as it turns out, it's not the reptiles...
Earth, 2019. To your character, a boring, ordinary, non-magical place to live. It is a time of cars, the internet and a very volatile political situation. That is until your character comes across a strange supernatural creature. When the veil is lifted, they find that the world isn't all that it seems.

Players aged 16+ are preferred. If you're a year or so younger than that and feel you're more mature than average, we can discuss things, but there will be extra limits set on RP to keep everyone comfortable regarding the age gap.
This is a multi-paragraph RP. If you feel you can't maintain a pace of about 2 paragraphs average per post, this might not be for you. Also, expect long posts from me early on - don't feel obligated to keep up with them and don't expect them to persist throughout; it'd be mostly due to me setting the scene.

So here's a very anime/manga inspired idea. Using the whole cliche of modern real-world with secret hidden magical stuff going on that the general public doesn't know about. In this setting, Earth has slowly been taken over by a mysterious figure. Their manipulations have been preparing the population for total subjugation. Controlling each nation with a council of four overlords who influence their designated president, prime minister or dictator, the secretive individual is slowly conditioning humanity to state where they can reveal themselves and guarantee no resistance as a result.
Each of the four overlords for each nation has control of a power based around one of the country's national symbols. For instance, the overlords of the USA use the power of the bald eagle, the rose, the oak and the banjo (National bird, flower, tree and instrument). In some cases, there will be duplicates, as many countries share national symbols.
Your character will come across one of the artefacts containing a power from their nation and will use that power in the fight to free Earth from the secret conspiracy.
For this RP, I will be using the Mini Xá AU version of my characer Xá'Taren, which can be found on the AU section of their profile. Xá will act as side-kick, mentor and friend to your character... and likely also will be a major source of comic relief.
The sort of character I'm looking for from a partner would be a stereotypical shōnen manga/anime high school student (of any gender). That being said, I'm open to older or younger characters providing they would fit an RP that is very much based on the shōnen manga/anime formula.
Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.
Modern
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
