Emmy Rhodes never thought she would ever get that chance. Growing up with just her father as a role model, she had never settled into good habits. Beyond barely graduation high school, she had no goals for herself or dreams to achieve. She simply found herself floating from sucky job to sucky job and bad relationship to bad relationship.
Now, after years of making bad choices, she finds herself tucked into a small apartment in a brand new state. She is completely alone, not knowing anyone. She is fleeing from a life that has caused her nothing but pain while searching for a familiarity that will allow her to call this new place home.
Living on the last of the money she had saved from working as a waitress in her old town, she finds herself at loose ends when the only reasonable job she can find is as a barista at a coffee shop down the street. She came with nothing but a suitcase full of clothes as a few valued items. Now she has to find a way to make a life for herself and to escape her past which seems to only live to haunt her.
