Hiya all, Winter here again.
So in my last forum post: What do you find challenging to create? I kept ending up mentioning an old OC of mine who's name is Luthian. He was a villain for a book I tried to write, but gave up on. Don't ask, long story.
Also bare with me. I want to cover some stuff before I get to my question. Thanks!
Anyways. Since I kept bringing him up, I now have the desire to make him a stand alone character. Basically make it so he can be rped out side of the book I had him in. So means I need to re-write him and the like.
Valter: "Vinter. You 'ave too many unfinished OC's as it is! Vhy must you do dis to yourself?"
Winter: Because I can't help it. So there. Now...leave me be to finish this post. Go join the rest of my OC's.
Valter: Snorts at Winter then walks off.

Originally Luthian was an undead necromancer. Some of his traits were: Cocky Mental Patient (former friend gave him that one), Very egotistic, Quiet, Thinks highly of himself (I never really got far with fleshing him out).

Now I want to make his base be this:
My question is: Is it wrong to give something nice to someone, who could potentially be considered at least a bad guy? I don't know if Luthian would be classified as a villain or not.
That is a mount from a MMORPG called Night Spirit. I thought it would make a cool beast companion for Luthian. While he would be a bad guy, it's not like he'd be a total azzhole. Like elves and dwarves, Luthian can see and appreciate, to an extent, the beauty of certain things.
So in short: Would it be weird if I gave Luthian this lovely creature as a companion or no?
I know it's hard to say when I am going to re-write him. But I'd like to work it in. And I know in the end it is up to me as the writer what I want to do, I just want some opinions is all.

I actually like it better when people do that with villains. Even bad guys are capable of compassion. Usually it's for selfish reasons, I think. And many bad guys have side kicks, so to speak. Like Lucifer and a Knight of Hell. Pets like that can go and do their Master's bidding. At least that's how I play it. The animal is loyal only to that one person and is just as bad as them.

So very true. You know I totally forgot about things like you mentioned, such as Lucifer and a Hell Knight. -face palms self- Ty!
Lol No worries. I forget simple stuff all the time 😂
Villains shouldn't be one note, they're people too, and people, as bad as they are sometimes, still have nice things.
Also, personal opinion here, but if it helps you enjoy your character more, then yeah, just give them whatever you want to give them. I'm a firm believer in "So long as you're having fun and not harming anyone else, then do whatever", and that includes things like giving your villain pretty pets!

I actually think the same thing. Just sometimes my brain stops me and makes me go: Would that even be right, or work? So then I ask even if I should do what I want. -anime sweats-
