The Artists (played by PMFantastica)

In a quiet city, posters have begun to appear on signposts and corkboards. They seem to be invitations of a sort, and direct to what seems to be an abandoned warehouse.

Calling Friendly Monsters

A small group of beasts, ghosts and spirits awaits inside, eager to meet new monsters.

((To have your character join the banquet, post on http://www.rprepository.com/community/forumthread.php?t=25155))
Scle riter (played by GGFreak)

Scle riter slithers down in a wave of cockroaches, escaping from a massive, bull-headed monster follows the horde of insects, yelling about getting his cash back. Scle then slip down a drain, leaving the minotaur to huff and puff in rage, leaving the scammed monster as they yell back "Happy to do business with you, sucker!". Walking through the sewers for a few minutes to gain some distance and count their latest haul, Scle slips out onto the streets again with a wide grin, noticing an enticing poster. Reading over it and pulling out 25 bucks from their newest income, Scle shrugs and mutters "Perhaps, a bit of innocent pickpocketing never hurt anyone...". The cockroach then starts to walk towards the warehouse, keeping a vaguely humanoid form under a tailored overcoat.

The warehouse was the busiest it had ever been. Light was filtering through the boards on the windows, the sounds of music echoed from inside amidst conversation and laughter. At the door, a giant black snake lay coiled, lazily watching the approaching figures. She was accompanied by a floating clipboard and pen, which offered itself to guests as their payments floated into a box. It made its way to Scle, and bobbed in the air in front of them. Please sign in, said the writing at the top, and present your payment.
Naunt (played by hugsohugs)

Naunt usually doesn't visit the city for long; generally he only appears to sell whatever's he's caught in the forest recently to anyone that's buying, or for shopping. It's not the safest place out there and he knows it. But as he's wandering the streets, he notices something rather inticing. A banquet? One specifically for monsters? Lots of food, but nobody asking stupid questions like "why is your head shaped like that" or "what in the world ARE you, anyway"? He can't help but grin at the mere prospect of it. Immediately he scrounges through his pockets, managing to get together the required 25 dollars, before skipping off towards the warehouse. Hopefully he's not too late.

Scle scribbles down their name, with a few intentional typos for plausible deniablity, on the guest list with a light bob to their head, before reaching towards the box with 25 bucks in hand. As they are about to perform any sleights of hand, the cash slips out of their grip, lazily heading for the box while Scle grumbles lightly under their breath about how these newfangled ways of paying is ruining their business. Scle then glances back to notice a square-headed monster skipping along towards them. Grinning widely, the cockroach horde steps aside and sweeps an arm to let the square on in.

Naunt's money flew into the box right after Scle's, and the doors pushed themselves open. The inside was well decorated, with a wide variety of patrons mingling. Several tables were laid out with different kinds of food- meat on one, raw meat on another, fish, salads, noodles, and a table of suspicious fluids- the Chef had clearly been experimenting. Off to one acoustically perfect corner, the Musician's vines were wrapped around the keys of a piano, filling the room with calm melodies.

The hosts fluttered from guest to guest, giving nods, greetings, and the occasional laugh. Kirsten the Seamstress was stuffed into her best dress, white gloves on her hands and a hat on her head. Multicolored scraps of cloth occasionally peeked out of the bottom of the dress as she pulled herself along next to Carter. Carter, the Actor was also well-covered, with a matching pair of gloves and a hat- just as well, too. As bright as the room was, it was near-impossible to make out his features. They made a striking pair, two sets of formalwear moving apparently of their own accord.

Al, the Painter was off to the side. They'd redone their smile for the party, but ended up off to one side idly sketching ideas in their writing pad. If someone really wanted to talk to them, they figured they'd come initiate. Best not to throw off Carter's mojo.

A rather good-looking vanilla-scented brightly glowing floating multicolored puddle with eyes would slither in the door, becoming the shape of a short boy. Giving both name and the required amount of le cash, the Spirit would start examining everyone, much to the others' displeasure. Why? Because that, my friends, was Eltrith. A being that travels the entire Universe via Quaster, the Universal Crossroad Centre, in order to record everything. His goal in life was to make sure no rock is left unturned, and hopefully, would be able to find a piece of History interesting enough for the inhabitants of what was known as the Azure Domain, so the Rust Ol' Dragon (Rod for short) would finally accept him into the world of Cyldale. Of course, his adventures throughout this land had brought him here, and hopefully, something historical would happen. Or whatever, I don't know.

Naunt gives the money flowing out of his pocket a suspicious glance, but he's soon distracted by the realization that he has to sign his name. He sighs a bit; writing has never been his forte. He takes the notepad and quickly scribbles his name down, then turns his attention to the rest of the banquet, walking past the cockroach creature. Predictably, his jaw drops. That is a LOT of food. And they have cooked AND raw!? He has to take a moment to pull himself together, closing his mouth and wiping the drool off with his sleeve. Okay, Naunt, he says to himself, play it casual. He one-mindedly gravitates to the plates to get himself some dinner, not paying much mind to the others.

Scle heads further inside, chuckling at the almost magnetic effect the food has on cube-head, following behind him to the banquet and grabbing a plate alongside him while keeping that smile on their face. "First banquet, huh?" Scle says in a chorus, gesturing to the tables of food and slowly taking a step towards it, still grinning as their lower right arm moves to hand the kid a plate before he gets one for himself, in an attempt to appear friendly. "I've always loved a good buffet myself. Even when Ol' Scle here's completely stuffed back home, I still make room for a table full of spicy cheeses." Spinning their little lie of cheese munching, Scle slips out a wide and flat tongue of carapace back to lick their lips, looking off to the side as they remember the fake breakfast. Scle then shakes his head and straightens up a little while clearing their throat."Say, what's your name, kid? Can't have me be just another stranger, am I right?" Scle says while gently elbowing their newest acquaintance.

The hosts spotted the new arrivals, and made their ways over. Kirsten reached them first, offering a gloved hand to shake. "Welcome to the banquet. I'm Kirsten, I own the place." She had a slight Danish affectation to her voice, and she moved... oddly, bending just slightly too well. Carter reached them just after her, offering his hand as well. "And I'm Carter. I'm just the one who pays for everything." He glanced at their plates and chuckled. "I see you've already found the best part of the party. Go for the parmesan chicken- Chef has absolutely outdone their selves tonight!" In the shadow of the hat, a faint image of a wide grin was visible.

Meanwhile, Al noticed they were being stared at. The glowing one seemed interesting, and they supposed the staring was enough of an invitation. Better make sure, though- they gave a small wave, just to test the waters.

(Sorry it's short! ^^')

It waved.

He was waved at.

Interesting.

The Spirit would float over, not in too much haste, as not to seem desperate, towards the Painter. Oh, there were a lot of unique creatures gathered here. Well then. He'd get a better look at them soon enough. For now, Eltrith's goal was to see what this one had in store for him.
Naunt (played by hugsohugs)

((For some reason, RPR decided not to tell me there were replies! Sorry if this is late.))

He hears a voice and quickly turns. Although mildly armed, he grins nervously and replies, "Yeah, ac'sully," his accent coming out immediately. "Ah heard of 'em b'fore, but...wow." He chuckles excitedly. "Nevah thought I'd attend one!" Naunt instinctively moves back a bit at the elbowing, but his cheery attitude remains. "Uhh, 'm Naunt. An'...is Scle you or some'un else?" He gladly takes the plate, but he's soon to gain a cautious atmosphere as the two hosts approach. "U-uh, hiya," he says simply, trying to maintain his grin. Ooh, chicken parmesan sounds good. When was the last time he had THAT? Oh whoops, he's drooling again. He wipes it off with his sleeve once more, then nods at Carter. "Ah think I will!" Pausing a moment, he turns to his new acquaintance. "Do ya mind...?"
Scle riter (played by GGFreak)

Scle lets out a deep chuckle and steps out of Naunt's way to the buffet, adding "Not at all, and we are indeed Scle!" before they turn their attention to the two hosts of the banquet, reaching out with two right arms for handshakes. "If you don't mind us saying, you've got a lovely banquet going on! A bit of brains and a bit of cash sure goes a long way. Is there any reason why you'd set all of this up?" Scle keeps a huge grin on their face as one of their left arms break off from the rest of Scle, turning into a small wave of cockroaches carrying a plate to the banquet, hoping to try some of that chicken and everything else. One or two of those cockroaches leave the small wave, scrambling towards vantage points high above, hiding under the roof of the warehouse.

A scrap of green cloth, the same shade as the dress, peeked out from Kirsten's hem to watch the wave ov cockroaches scuttling away. She'd have to warn Nora about this one- there was something she didn't like about hive minds. Take Chef, for instance. Chef seemed to have eyes and ears in every block of the city, said they wanted to keep up on fresh ingredients. She didn't trust them one lick. Shady bunch. A couple more scraps wormed their way out from under her dress, letting her keep an eye on all the larger bits of Scle that were raiding the tables.

Carter chuckled. "Well, I don't know if I'd call myself brainy, but yes. Money and merriment go hand in hand." He gave a slight shrug in response to the question. "It's something of a recruitment drive. Kirsten and I, as well as a few others, represent the Artists, capital A. We make art, sell it off, and throw a banquet every other year." He pulled a small flask from his inside pocket, taking a quick swig. The amber liquid inside was briefly visible in his head, but it quickly dissolved into nothingness. "I don't suppose you're interested in joining? If you stay for a year, you get to choose a title. Actor or Tailor or Chef or somesuch."

Al watched the blob approach with slight anticipation. Nothing serious. They weren't exactly desperate for attention. When he arrived, they tucked their book under their cloak, freeing up their hands. They moved their hands up from the corners of their mouth, signing a smile. ASL they signed, dotting it with a question mark and a slight tilt of the head.

((Is anyone there?))
Scle riter (played by GGFreak)

((Sorry, yes, I'm here. I've just been a bit busy with school as of late, so this slipped my mind.))

Scle gives a hearty chuckle as they're offered a position, glancing down as their former arm reattaches and reforms, complete with a plate of various globs of dishes. Inspecting the selection with a nod to their head, Scle looks back up and says "I doubt I'm the kind of artist you're looking for, but I believe I'm a rather excellent salesman. I could always try to sell a few art pieces of yours, drive up the price and take a small cut for myself. Rather standard deal, of course. And I have been thinking of being an agent for a few actors.". Scle scritches their own chin idly with their upper arm, letting the two lower arms work on feeding themself as they think. They then exclaim "Then again, perhaps your talent speaks well enough to any buyers!", spreading out their upper arms as Scle smiles brightly.

The few observing cockroaches under the ceiling skitter about, looking for banquet goers that look nervous or malplaced, apparently not noticing the scraps of cloth following them for now.
