The sky was dark and the breeze was cold. The hustle in the city was rather toned down and people looked tired as ever. It was a Monday after all. One thing these people have that I don't is a job. I'm dead broke. I just had a job interview today and it ended on quite a bitter note.
"We would consider hiring you if you were human. Customers would be driven out by your rather- peculiar looks," they said. Wow. I wouldn't have socked you in the face if you were a bit kinder.
I sighed to myself and kicked a pebble in frustration and continued walking towards the train station. I squeezed into the crowd of people and headed for the underground.
I got stares and terrified children all around me which didn't bother me much at this point. I just want to go home right now.

Corina settles back into the underground shuttle train as the afternoon draws to a close. Evening, settling upon the city like a blanket, seems to bring an imperceptible sigh into life as people head home from their respective days of work and play. Her own day, one of study and headaches, has gone fairly routinely. She had debated the intricacies of the environment and people's impact upon it, written essay upon essay, and read at least ten chapters of doctrine and historical data surrounding ancient cultures. Boring, one might think. But not for Corina. She loved to research, and find new and exciting data and ideas. Bookish much? Well yeah, but she had a few friends, too - not that she hung out with them much. She preferred to spend her time alone, listening to music, or dancing about on ice, gliding fast and free on the thin ice skates that she felt so comfortable in, as she practiced for hours upon end.
One day, she would reach her goal, and win a medal in the Olympics. But first, she had to get there. And to do THAT she needed a college degree, a coach, and money. Closing her eyes and leaning her head against the back rest as she awaited to the train to depart, she thought about how much longer she would be stuck bussing tables at the diner. It was helping her get through college at least, and she knew she'd stick it out.

Naix was sitting on the couch in his home-slash-apartment-slash-lab, wondering if he should go outside or study for his next biology test. He eventually decided the the prior would be a better thing to do. He wasn't in the mood for studying. He grabbed his backpack, then opened the door to his hallway, then started walking down the hallway silently.
He pressed the "OPEN" button on the elevator door. He walked inside, pressing the "GROUND FLOOR" button. He waited as calm jazz music played in the elevator. Ding. The elevator doors opened, and Naix walked out. The automatic exit doors opened as he walked out. Fresh, crisp air filled his lungs.
Maybe he should do something other than lounge in his apartment all day.
