Seri (played by Zrllosyn)

The rain was coming down hard, hitting against the hard plastered ground in solid thuds. Seri grimaced, her glasses now dripping wet causing her vision to disorient and waver. Pulling the glasses off in a flud motion, she shoved them into her coat pocket and focused on the back of the man before her. He was a good runner, and in the dark it was impossible to see his face. But his dark olive jacket was that of her target, the man who had taken the tape which was technically her salary. The frigging pickpocket that snagged her camera whole in the street. Her breath was now in short huffs, leaving faint vapor trails whenever she jumped over a car or skidded a corner. The man darted left. She followed blindly, and reached out to grab his coat. Just when she was millimeters away, he darted right. And just as she turned on her heels to chase after him, she slid. Or more correctly, half slid half collided into something. It was a full on force collision, causing her to fall backwards, barely preventing her head from hitting the concrete too hard. It still hurt like hell.

"ow." she winced, pulling her raincoat's hood lower to shield her eyes from the incoming rain.

This wasn't a good day at all.

Snake (played anonymously)

He stared at her. Nothing but void was inside. He...and the image faded. Once more he was at Paul's Watering Hole, dreaming of her. She had appeared multiple times over the few days, tormenting him over what he did. Of course she never was there. He would simply plop down on his seat and stare at the wall. And there she appeared again, radiant as ever. She was like a ghost, but yet he had proof. Proof that she did exist. Proof that made him a murderer. He clutched the dark olive bandana stuffed away in the inside pocket of his coat. A reminder of his former days. His throat suddenly became dry beyond comparison and his beard started to itch. "I'll have a last drink Paul, and then I'll be out of your way". Paul however, had died multiple days ago. He had two .36 caliber balls of lead lodged in the face, one near the left eye and another removing skull and hair, exposing the twisted mind inside. Of course, it has been a few days and now the bar reeked of a detestable stink. Snake had killed him, not because of his personal differences with the man or out of desperation, but because business was business. And Paul was stupid enough to let a stranger into his bar even though he had a target painted to the back of his head. Snake had stayed in this atmosphere of rotting flesh because Paul had given him drinks on the house (and anyone else that passed by)and because this stench reminded him of what he had done. This is why he saw her. It brought him great sorrow and pain to see her, but he was somewhat relieved that even though she was...gone, she lived somewhat in the inside of a broken mind. He didn't want to arouse suspicion and decided to go out the back, into the rain, in the maze of glass and concrete called Metaplex city. He stepped out, his heavy auburn boots hitting the wet ground when a green blur rushed passed him, followed by a sudden blow on his right side, staggering him. Below him was a young woman, grasping at the back of her head.

The first thing she noticed about the thing she rammed into was that is was actually quite warm on impact. And that it stank to high heaven. After a while of massaging her head she looked up, to notice what she had originally thought to be a semi-cushioned pole was a man. A man looking at her quizzically, as if questioning where she came from. She groaned and stood up, her hand reaching behind her and patting her back between the shoulder blades subconsciously. Noticing what she was doing, she yanked her hand away, and propelled herself off the floor. After sitting up, she remembered what she was doing.

"SHIT." She mumbled. Her salary had just gotten away. Because of this man. She shook her head at the last part, not wanting to blame others for her problems.

"Uh... do you know where the guy in green went?" She asked cautiosly, standing up now and checking herself for water stains.

Her rain coat was longer than most,so it had managed to protect her from most of the water, and part of the puddle she landed in. The cuffs of her jeans and her boots seemed to be soaked though, but most of it was probably from her chase rather than falling into a puddle. The mud stains were probably going to take forever to get out. Nope. Not good at all.
Snake (played anonymously)

Snake promptly closed the door behind him, not wanting the odor to escape or for her to see what was inside. He noticed that in her fall a faint sound of breaking glass. He quickly bent down to see that it was a pair glasses that had slipped out during the fall, leaving only the right lens intact. He was now at eye level with the woman sitting down the ground, still dizzy from the fall. He patted her right shoulder, the one she mostly landed on, and saw that nothing was broken or out of place. He stood up, offered her a hand, and said: "That guy that ran past here? I wouldn't worry too much. This alley ends up in a dead end, where the back doors of multiple shops in the area give out to". His arm was still stretched out, offering her a helping hand. But she wouldn't accept it. Her hazel eyes were now locked on to him. He cracked a smile. This was the eyes of a determined one. He retracted his hand, shuffled into his inside jacket pocket, and brought out a tin box. He took out a cigar, bit off the round end, and lighted it. "I don't think he's a buddy of yours", she started to shift and take a more offensive stance, "what'd he do, steal your wallet?" he said, puffing out cloud of smoke and cigar ash.

Seri raised an eyebrow, but her eyes stayed cold and suspicious.

"That's none of your business is it, mr. smelly stranger?"

She mumbled the last part, barely audible as she reached over and fished her glasses out of the puddle. She held in a groan as she realized one of the lens was shattered and gone, and quite obviously could not be repaired. She would probably need to order bullet proof glasses next time or something similar. She placed the glasses in the pocket of her raincoat and stood up, patting herself. Not that it would help her seeing how all of the damage done to her clothes was water based.

She gently tugged at her holster under her coat, hiding it more efficiently and checking if it was soaked. Luckily it wasn't meaning her gun was presumably intact. A good turn of events. She walked by the man, turning to go down the dead-end alleyway.

"Well thanks anyway stranger."
Snake (played anonymously)

The woman rushed pass him, muttering the words "thanks" and "stranger". Snake wondered what she was about to do, or even what the man was going to do to her. But he knew that it wasn't his business, that his days of rescuing damsels in distress were over. She's armed he thought to himself. He wondered in what line of business she was. Could she be...like him? Or was she a cop? Either way, he was glad to have promptly closed the door behind him before she could see anything. He furrowed his brow. 3 feet away from where she was standing was a Blackberry (phone, you can change it to whatev later). He bent over and picked it up. She hadn't left too long ago and he could still probably catch up to her before she reached that man. He tried unlocking the phone, his natural (and trained) curiosity taking a hold of him, but to no avail. He turn around and walked down into the alleyway towards the mysterious woman
Seri (played by Zrllosyn) Topic Starter

Seri glanced around the now empty alleyway, searching for the man. A soft clang drew her attention upward, toward the roof of the smallest of the buildings creating the alley. A shadow of a man crossed the roof and she grimaced. She could have gotten up there in an instant if she used... THAT but she had no intention of giving away her identity to her culprit or a random passerby. She seriously doubted that that one guy she bumped into earlier had nothing to do with her chase, and could be watching at this very moment. She tensed, at the thought, but ignored it and looked for a way to climb up.

A broken fire escape, and dumpster, and a few ledges was all she had to use to climb up. She looked at her thin arms, which no matter how much she trained, still looked like sticks. Generally her arms were pretty weak. She grumbled and climbed on top the dumpster, grabbed hold of the fire escape, and made her way upwards. When she reached the part that was inaccessible, she transferred over to the ledges of the building, quickly making her way upwards. By the time she was on the roof, her arms ached like hell and was short of breath. This chase was taking way too long.
Snake (played anonymously)

Snake walked in, to see the woman climbing up the roof. He hadn't seen anything like this since his days in FOXHOUND. His mouth widened into a smile, his respiration became faster and briefer, his heart rate increased and the socket under his eye patch throbbed with lust. Lust for a mission. For a purpose. He was after all a soldier. Watching that woman climb up the roof to chase after the man told him that his wasn't any regular pickpocket, and that the phone he held in his hand belonged to a very strange and intriguing person.

He ran out of the alleyway, running through crowds of perplexed citizens, all donned in raincoats and see-through umbrellas. Block after block he ran under them, watching them leap and somersault through the air. His instinct was right. She was armed and was running after a man. This could only end in two ways, and whatever it would be he intended to there to spectate and know just who this person was.

She certainly was no cop, since none them actually did anything and just sat in their desks all day. It only meant that she too was like him, driven by the action, or someone very close to matching that description.
Seri (played by Zrllosyn) Topic Starter

After several blocks, her opponent slipped up rather literally and skidded, right before the edge of the roof. After seeing that even if they jumped now she would catch up, the man shifted into a stance. Seri paused in her steps. So this is were they're going to fight.

"GIVE. ME. BACK. MY. SALARY."

She growled through gritted teeth, her hands clenched at her sides. Her left hand was clenched slightly looser than the right, ready to grab her gun at any moment. The outline of the man's grin could be seen by the faint light coming from the street lights below, but she still could not identify him. No need, she thought to herself. She'll just have to beat the information out of him.

As if to cut into her train of thoughts, the man drew a handgun, a fairly new model at that, and fired. Her instincts had managed to get her to doge just barely, as she dodged to the side and pulled out her pistol. The scrape on her side burned, so she assumed they must have some sort of energy weapon. She returned fire, but they dodged as well. They seemed to be fairly skilled, perhaps a mercenary or something of that sort. Seri grimaced. This was going to take a while.
Snake (played anonymously)

The shots cracked through the air, like a broken record. Suddenly the streets were an avalanche of people running in all directions. The clear umbrellas fell to the ground, people shrieking in fear and despair. All around him Snake saw wide-eyed blank faces of horror. The only ones that remained were the homeless, begging in the corners of the street, detached from the world of the life-clinging masses. "White people..." they chuckled.

Snake tried to run into this tsunami of flesh. He pushed, shoved and screamed into the air, "OUT OF MY WAY!" in his gruff voice. He finally reached the building which the shots were coming from and sprinted into the alley to find a fire exit (or in this case, entry). And then, there he appeared. A hooded man, crouched in the corner, waiting for some kind of order. But Snake knew this man. Or at least where he hailed from. That symbol.... But the man snapped towards his direction. His infra-red goggles blocked his eyes, but Snake knew the look of his eyes. The eyes oft he dead. Snake stood still, waiting for this man to make his move. The man didn't break eye contact. His right knee slightly bending. His shoulder slowly dropping. His waist opening up slightly onto his right side...revealing a 18mm Standard Issue Makarov. Snake suddenly crouched down, spun and snapped a 1853 Navy Colt out of his coat, cocking the hammer back and releasing the awe-some power of a armor penetrating .36 bullet. The man was projected back, his chest caved in, slumping against the wall to just fall down and paint the wall red with him.

Was this man after the woman!? Who has she gotten involved with? He rushed to the top of the stair, kicked the iron door near the lock and swinging it open. And there he saw her. Shooting back at the mysterious man, twisting and swiveling around, dodging energy shots after another. Her hair thrashing in the rain and wind, slicing the drops as they went by. She had good form and probably wasn't her first time in action. But before Snake could do anymore, the hooded man fired in his direction and Snake was forced behind the iron door, cocking back the hammer of his gun.
Seri (played by Zrllosyn) Topic Starter

Seri grimaced a bit as she saw the the door swing open, but was surprised to see a familiar face. Before she could be satisfied with confirmed suspicions, her opponent fired a shot at the man. Now she was simply confused. Were they not allies? Using the time it took the man to shoot the not-enemy stranger, she shot at her opponent. The shot sliced through his shoulder, a clean but painful wound. The man swore under his breath, and as his arm went limp, shot again.

A large grim spread across her face as the man's arm fell limp at his side. She must have hit a tendon of some sort. It wasn't on his dominant arm, but would drastically help lower his mobility and aim. Aiming at a moving target with no arm to help lower recoil shock, and a constant pain in your arm was not easy, even for professionals. But the man did not seem to be so phased, other than the occasional grimace. Seri shot behind a large metal thing on the roof, quickly reloading. Her gun may have a extremely large round capacity did not by any means mean she could shoot forever. As her new clip was slammed into her gun with a sharp click, her opponent had dashed into her firing range, which technically was his as well. Several shots rang out as she ducked to the other side of the metal object cursing her newly formed leg wound. A bullet was probably stuck in there. It was burning like hell.
Snake (played anonymously)

How many bullets do I have? Snake thought. Those goons snoopin' around at Paul's cost me 4, and I shot once at the guy below, leaving me with 1 He knew that it wouldn't do any good. The woman had shot the man in the shoulder, but it did not affect him too much. Adding on the new wound of the woman in the leg, he knew that she was too preoccupied to see it. The bullet went through his coat and shoulder, yet the coat was not stained dark in that area. Furthermore, the lower half of his body was blocked from her view, which means she didn't see the most revealing clue: a white liquid was pouring out his shoulder, rolling down his arm to end up in a helix wrapping around his middle finger and trickling down in drops to the ground. He had artificial blood, probably along with artificial organs. A goddamn Frozener he muttered to himself.

Frozeners was the government's gamble for the next evolutionary step for humankind. They were created with artificial organs and blood, fused together and then frozen for a few years. These Homo Superius were capable of faster learning, reflexes, and were generally stronger in all aspects. They were mostly used by the government for missions in space, where they could support better the atmosphere (or the lack of really). It wasn't uncommon to see Frozeners however, since the black market had gotten its hands on schematics and sold the information world wide.

Snake knew that the only way to defeat a Frozener was his hit its head or neck, but a .36 bullet wouldn't be able to bypass the thick cell lining that was present for Frozeners to survive natural disasters and war. The rest of the body could be shot at, no problemo, but the improved efficiency of the blood and organs would allow him to still carry on normally. Snake reached into his pocket, wanting to use that, but decided not to use it, in fear that the woman would shoot him as well.

Snake ran around the the door, and shot the Frozener in the leg, causing him to momentarily crouch. In that split second interval, Snake ran to him, and kneed in the jaw, causing it to twist and grind teeth to shoot out. The man reached his right arm towards his face trying to claw it off, but Snake caught it, pushed it into his armpit, twisted his arm around it and snapped the man's arm. The Frozener spun around, using his leg to trip Snake and making him land on his back, and pointed his gun at him. Snake threw his legs towards his hand, caught it between his feet and in a swift motion Snake spun his body and snapped his wrist. Afterwards, Snake jumped towards him, forced him to the ground, quickly laid his leg over his neck and put the man's arm into a lock. The fight was now over and he waited for the woman to make her choice.

The event unraveling before seri was astonishing to say the least. A shot had rung out and the man before her knelt, an inhuman liquid accompanying the bullet on it's way out. Her eyes widened, recognizing what it was, but before she had a chance to respond, the dull coated man who was by the door a few seconds previously shot out and kneed the man in the face. After a few swift exchange, her thief was pinned and had a slightly triumphant looking man pinning him. She snorted inwardly, but stayed on guard. The man before her looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to act first. Seri had looked at him campy, but in her mind she was everything but calm. Her mind ran in full circles trying to figure out what to do. She searched her kind for something to say.

"You're that guy from before."

She glanced down at the man pinned down before her. The light liquid on the floor identified him as an artificial, something she had been expecting, except he looked too.... unmodified. The ones she had dealt with earlier had some sort of visible proof of modifications. So her "client" had been deeper involved in the government then she thought. Her so-called client was Enric Leaston, a CEO of Least on Facilities and a billionaire. She was hinted at that he may have some not-very-legal experiments and productions going on behind the scenes, and indeed he was. Except he was backed by a ally very very deep in the government. There was no way he could have gotten to the latest versions of frozeners without help. Her situation was getting stickier the more she thought about it. If the government was backing this man, it would be very hard to get her news on air, or even publicized at all. News and articles were meant to be seen, heard, and read. If it wasn't then it was basically worth nothing. She would have to hack the news networks again. The idea of hacking into Daily Motions "electro-papers" again did not make her very happy, but anything to make her work seen would be done. And for that she needed her "tape" or data disc. And that was with the man now pinned on the floor. She would have to get that back. Aannddd maybe that energy gun. She didn't like to admit it but she was pretty poor, and a new gun sounded nice. Her mark 2 plasma pistol was over a hundred years old (according to a friend) and jammed easily. All of her other guns weren't exactly the best either.
Snake (played anonymously)

Snake waited for some kind of response from the woman. They were after all in a fight together to stop this mysterious man. He had no personal quarrel but it was weird that she didn't say anything. What is going on...And then it started. The man pinned under him started to convulse, especially in the areas where he had been shot or his bones were broken. Light ripples in the skin formulated and accumulated in the wounds.

"HEY, you see this?", Snake shouted, "He's starting to regenerate". This meant only one thing: he had nanomachines capable of advanced capabilities such as accelerating cell re-growth to repair damaged areas.

Hey kids! Let's talk about nanomachines, SOP, micro-chips and mentats. Nanomachines are small robotic balls that are injected into the blood stream in order to carry out certain orders. For instance, a solider is injected with nanomachines that suppress his psychological levels in order for him to be an effective killing machine. It would also regulate his body to keep desired levels constant. All citizens are injected with basic nanomachines that censor certain words, such as the word Patriot. All nanomachines are linked back to the SOP system, with takes in and analyze all data that goes through. The main reason that nanomachines are in people is to 1. Regulate and provide a constant census and 2. Provide the location and name of people who are not in the system. To fight this, people where special contacts that cheat the system, so that they appear like they have NM, but they really don't. Next are micro-chips. These are commercial products used to alter the brain in some way. A business chip with provide +1 in management, +2 in customer sociability and etc. Mentats are people who take in certain amounts of spice from Arrakis and alter their body to become super-computers, capable of extreme data processing. The only drawback to this is that their brains overheat quickly and they need to be constantly hydrated. (Felt like writing this for sake of background info).

NM that can regenerate means that this guy is probably government property . The man started to spasm more and more violently. "If you have business with this guy, do it now! Wait...before that...I need to know...say Patriot"
Seri (played by Zrllosyn) Topic Starter

"ah, right." Seri quickly knelt at the man's side, and began rummaging through the government agent's pockets. She dug around until she for found a small black object which she placed into her pocket. She was about to reach for the man's gun when she was interrupted.

"Say patriot" he had said. A censored word. The word arrived in her mind blurred and barely recognizable.

"Say what-now?" She asked, as she snatched the agent's energy weapon. Perhaps agent was not an appropriate term for this man. Solider seemed to suit him better, especially with his enhancements. He struggled harder, almost buckling her supposed ally off. She still didn't trust him.

"You're going to have to repeat that, whatever you said." She shrugged , and checked the gun. Fully charged. A light beep caught her attention, and she reached into one of her pockets. No phone. She flinched, realizing she had lost it somehow. Her eyes glowed dimly, blending with the reflecting light of street lamps as she displayed the image in her eye, viewing the message. It had a one word order. 'Kill'. She let out a obviously disgruntled sigh, and shot her opponent, the soldier, the agent, in the head. As a searing hole opened in the back on the mans head, he fell limp onto the floor, a puddle of artificial blood flowing around him. Her posture was relaxed, her arm not even flinching at the recoil of the gun. Her face was set, and not a single muscle was too tense, showing the all too well known signs of a experienced killer. All except the eyes. Her eyes glowered with desperately smothered pain, regret, and sadness. The phone within the living man's pocket let out a soft glow, indicating it had received the message as well. On its lock screen was a pop up window, with the exact same order, from a contact named Frost. It buzzed softly, as if attempting to catch the attention of those around it.

A soft light from a look light seri held highlighted a metallic object in the deadman's head. She took out a small jacknife and, with a look of disgust, hacked the object out. It was a small chip, persumably those that was used for transmissions. They were usually implanted in hidden areas of the brain, but after several years of digging them up, she had gained a general idea of where the chips were generally hidden. She wiped the blood and brain stuff off on the dead man's coat, and then planted a single coin next to him. Coins were rare these days, seeing how everyone just used credits, but she, for nostalgic reasons, had kept a lot of them.
Snake (played anonymously)

Holy Mackerel! Great Snakes! By Thor's Thunder! Snake thought, What was that all about?. He had jumped backwards, ready to counter-attack if ever her killing instincts designated him as the next target. He loosened up once he realized that she had stopped and was looking at his pocket, which was ringing. He took out of his pocket, and quickly read what it said on the screen. Kill, by Frost. As he extended his arm to offer her phone back, she had crouched down to extract a chip from the Frozener.

Wait a minute, she has firearm training, was chasing a Frozener, initiated some kind of kill code due to this message from Frost and knew the emplacement of a Frozener chip. Is she ex-military? Gov agent? Zerox Mercenary? Cyborg? Mentat? At the same time, she still had basic NM. She was other a gov lackey or...something else...

She looked up to him.

"Umh..here's your phone back. Who are you? You're not just a civilian, who are you with? And why were you after this guy?" Shit...I'm asking to many questions, if she is indeed a gov agent, this might trigger her NM to kill me.

Her presumed ally's eyes widened as the shot entered the man's head. She had assumed that they had some battle experience, seeing how they managed to shoot and pin the man down, but his reaction seemed to prove otherwise. Perhaps he hadn't seen any "real" action lately, his skills were too good to be of a normal man. She had been getting many kill orders lately and she was used to the blood and death, so she guessed that his reaction was only normal. After being offered her phone back, she accepted it back, but looked the man over. Had he chased her all this way just for this? She doubted it. Most people would rather turn it in to whatever authority was in charge and get the hell out of the way, especially seeing how she was involved in some sort of incident.

"... I guess a introduction is in order... Im Seri. Reporter." She replied, finding no harm in telling him this much. As a mercenary she went under another name, and for many of her articles she was left anonymous. Her real name should have no traces to it, no indications to any of her other jobs or connections for that matter.

"Im not exactly 'WITH' anyone. Frost is like my boss I guess, but he's more of a guidance person that a commander."

She swerved around the topic of 'why were you chasing this guy' uncertain how to explain to him that she was quite desperate to keep her scoop, and her film was the only solid evidence she got. If she didn't get this one she would be without rent money or food money for that matter, until she got the next article. She didn't feel like explaining the part about being a mercenary and hating it either.
Snake (played anonymously)

"Reporter heh?" This was like gibberish to Snake. A reporter!? With that skill!? Working with Frost!?. Snake didn't buy her story what so ever. However, sirens rang out in the streets and it was time to get out of here.

When they were both running away, Snake said: "Hey girl, my name is...Jack. If you work for Frost, we'll probably meet again. Here's my serial if ever you want to call me". This of course, was a serial to a an untraceable and undetectable cellphone that was implemented into the ear of a person and would stimulate the bones in the ear to reproduce sound. They soon after ran into the night. It had been 4 hours since Snake went out of the bar.

2 days later.

Paul's Watering Hole. Snake sat there, staring into the wall. Paul's body was gone, along with any evidence that would convict Snake or his boss. Mr. Blue sat next to him, typing away on his calculator. Why didn't they bring Mr. White, the Mentat? This would've taken a second if they did. "With the disposition of the body, destruction of the evidence and smell-away, this will be 16740 credits redacted away from your payment, a reasonable price no? Of course it wasn't, but this organization was the only one that provided such services and thus could set the price.

Snake got up from his seat, and turned towards the backdoor. "A pleasure working with you and until next week!" ****ing sycophants muttered Snake as he went out the door. The rain had started again. I wonder if it'll meet that reporter again.
