After the events of How to Train your Dragon 2, stories of the Viking chief who rides the king of dragons and whose village trains and rides dragons. Many Vikings follow in their example but not Freya’s tribe.
Freya’s father, Ronal the Ragged, is the chief of their tribe. They are a tribe of dragon hunters, trappers, and killers. They kill dragons for sport and not just for self defense.
Freya is eleven and has never really had much of a bloodlust. In fact, Freya has a secret. Her secret is Y/C, a dragon that she had raised up from an egg after her father killed their mother. She trained Y/C to stay hidden and never allow her father to see them.
Secrets can’t be kept secret forever and when her father discovers her with her dragon, the two must go on the run to keep the dragon safe.

Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.
Iron age
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
No romance at all will be included in this plot, period.
