For centuries, it has been rumored if a man is able to kill a God, they will inherit their powers. Of course, this is only a old wives' tale. What man could possibly kill a God anyways?
Heavenmoor is a vast country with various regions, cultures, and tongues. The North is harsh, cold, and mountainous. The East is home to fishing villages and tales of spirits. The plains of the West stretches on for miles. The swamplands of the South is home to various potion and medicine ingredients with the risk of getting stuck in mud. The four regions, after centuries of debate, decided to mint a universal currency called Woolong, a silver coin with a hole in middle of it.
In the midst of a civil war, word spreads that a man has killed a God. Your character has received a commission from the high priestess of the Ise Shrine in the East to receive this man for her either dead or alive. In the commission letter, it also states that you will be accompanied by a party of various people who also answered the commission.
What's the time setting?
A kitchen sink Victorian Era. Technology can be up to Victorian Era.
Are OCs or canon allowed?
Both are allowed. Be creative as you like on how they ended up in Heavenmoor.
Ren never understood why a priestess would hire a stranger hailing from the far reaches of Heavenmoor. A mysterious land known as Somwyr, which was of course often made fun of for such a name. It was known for its hospitality... if none of its inhabitants were put in danger by any unwanted visitors. Were such a case to happen they would be incredibly savage and ruthless, leaving no quarter, not even a single trace that their enemies existed. Perhaps it was the fact that several well-known mages lived in that ominous land that urged for them to call upon his expertise, but why him? Well, it was because his familiar was the person they were hiring, not him. She was bound to Ren and could only go so far without the continued support of his inherently large mana reserves.
After such a long and intensive thought process and reflection, his familiar, Azumi slapped him gently with her tails
"Are you done?" She scolded in a motherly tone "Do not think for a moment that I knew not you were overthinking it again, dear. 'Tis simply another job, alright? I'll be fine, you'll be fine"
Ren shook his head in dismay and said no more. They were after a Godslayer. He knew one from Somwyr, though it may not be the same person and even that man was benevolent. He did not want to risk his familiar's "life". He loved her like family, she was the one who raised him from infancy after the inexplicable disappearance of his biological parents. Azumi was the only mother he would ever have, even if she herself refused to admit such a thing.
Nevertheless, they awaited the rest of the party who would accompany them on this journey. Whatever happens, he would ensure the safety of his familiar.
((Heya there! I've adjusted these OC's to fit into the setting somewhat. They're meant for sci-fi/fantasy settings but I've used them before in a fantasy medieval setting with no issues! I have never heard of this setting, so apologies if I get the lore wrong

When he received the commission from the priestess, Gui initially thought that it was for the Traveller and got delivered to the wrong place. He had checked it again in disbelief when it was reached out to him. Occasionally, he did take commissions for a medic but not one to fetch a Godslayer in some foreign land. He swore on Morax that Teyat had far better medics than him like Dr. Baizhu and the deaconess of the Church of Favonius in Mondstat.
Dr. Baizhu couldn't travel however due to his alignment. So after two days of hesitation, Gui had set out to Heavenmoor with farewells and wishes from friends. He had finally arrived to the Ise Shrine and sat on the ground in exhaustion. Gui saw two people, a young man and a kitsune, already there. He gave a sluggish wave towards them.

((I changed it to Victorian Era so people can use guns in that era though.))
Kalsinius was decidedly not having a good day.
For whatever reason, whether it be divine or devilish in nature, he has found himself torn from Faerun and into this new world. The languages spoken here were dialects he hasn't heard before, the culture at large was unusual. It was all a bit overwhelming.
He couldn't even hear his mother's daedra anymore.
To top it all off, three men in unusual clothing tried to mug him. The resulting fight wasn't much of one. It took three punches, one for each mugger, and they dropped like a sack of potatoes.
The guards arrested him for assault, and dragged him to (what he assumed) was a local religious leader. The woman at least appeared as such. Everyone else here appeared commonplace. A pale man sat talking with a strange creature with many tails. It looked vaguely like a fox. Another man with dark hair is dressed similarly to the people in this world.
Then he is dragged to the Priestess and the guards do their best to make him kneel. Kal resists, naturally, and he speaks clearly first in Common, then in Celestial in hopes that the Priestess spoke either:
"My name is Kalsinius Elar, and the men I assaulted began the conflict first. I only defended myself. Please, I am unsure as to how I got here. What is this place, and who are you all?"
In the struggle against the guards, his hat falls to the ground, and his white hair gleams in whatever light is available.
(Lemme know if I need to change stuff, I went with a drop-in for flair.)

A man entered. Kalsinius Elar was his name. Well, he was more or less being dragged by some guardsmen. He did not seem in the mood for a lively convetsation with a fox spirit. Unfortunately, Azumi, does not understand social cues or rather chooses to ignore them in favor of making new friends. It took a stern tap on the shoulder by Ren, who shook his head in disapproval.
"You may be my master, but who raised you since you were but a little cub?" She giggled.
Ren groaned before raising his hands in defeat, shaking his head in annoyance after the fact. The pair were always overprotective towards each other, but in the end, his motherly shikigami had the final say in everything.
So, Azumi waddled over adorably to Kalsinius. The kitsune smiled and wagged her tails gently. Then, she realized the fact that he was thrown by the guards, suggesting that he may have done some sort of crime.
"Oh dear!" She pouted "What trouble have you gotten yourself into? You know, you could have just asked this wise four-tailed kitsune for help!"
She then realized she had not introduced herself.
"I am Azumi, an eastern fox spirit known as a kitsune!" She smiled "Despite your strange introduction, I would like to ask what you are doing here? Perhaps another adventurer willing to undertake the quest to slay a godslayer-"
Ren abruptly covered Azumi's snout, shaking his head no. She tilted her head, wondering why he did not want her to divulge that piece of information.
"Oh dearie, speak for once. It's alright, a stranger is always a potential for a new friend!"
"No" the young man replied
"But you just did!" Azumi said
Ren simply shook his head in dismay.

A voice spoke into Ren's mind. It was the voice of Mathiys that talked to Ren in order to calm him
"Ren.....calm down. Your mom is well-known. Don't worry, Ren. I am watching"
Mathius was at his job washing dishes, but his abilities allowed him to watch over several places at once.

The next person to arrive was escorted by guards. What did he do?, Gui thought in curiosity. With the exception of the cheery kitsune who introduced herself as Azumi, the Kalsinius was currently the oldest mortal-ish in the group. His clothing was similar to ones that the people of Natlan wore based on the photos that the Traveller showed him.
He walked over to Kalsinius and was met with the swords of the guards. Yokai was highly respected here so that explained why Azumi walked freely. The guards gasped in disbelief when the moody boy who accompanied the kitsune covered her snout.
"Excuse me. I just want to check him for any wounds." With a grunt, the guards gave Gui some space to move closer to the older man. He crouched down and kept a distance, so he wasn't in Kalsinius' personal space. Gui's eyes scanned his face and visible spots of skin for any cuts and bruises.
"Are you hurt anywhere?" Gui asked. "Where are my manners? I'm Gui, a pharmacist. As the group's medic, I will work hard to make sure all of you are well and healthy during our journey," he determinedly stated.
The Priestess turned around to look at the group. She was petite with sun-kissed skin, brown eyes, and a round face. Her long inky black hair was in a braid, and a saishi laid on top of her head. The dark circles and stress lines under her eyes were the result of restless nights.
The guards kneeled in the presence of her. Gui quickly turned himself around to face the Priestess.
"Is this all?" She frowned and tilted her head slightly in disappointment. The white threads that hung down from her saishi moved with her.
((Any suggestions and ideas are welcomed! You all have as much as a part in this story as I do.))

Stunned at the sudden approval of the king, some of the guards immediately aimed their swords, spears, and guns at the newest arrival.
The Priestess raised her hand. "Halt! Not everyone is a immediate threat to my well-being." The guards nodded and backed away from Emeris. "King Emeris, welcome. I have heard from tales of a far that your linage is known for slaying angels, yes?"
Gui looked over his shoulder slightly to look at the king with golden armor. A angel slayer? What's a angel?, he thought in confusion.

A faint golden Aura surrounds the king, shimmering softly against his armor. Anyone with knowledge in magic could tell this was more of a defensive precaution than an attempt at an attack. He raises an eyebrow at the priestess, a look of faint shock dawning on his face.
"I was not aware my reputation exceeded me so. Where exactly am I?"

Kal still couldn't understand the words of these people. Faerun Common, even Celestial seemed to not get any reactions from anyone. What did get a reaction was the fox speaking to him.
He gives a double take to the small creature. Creatures didn't typically speak unless spells were used to hear them, or if the druids translated. He didn't expect to actually see the thing speak to him. It sounded female, almost grandmotherly as it seemed to chastise him as he was man-handled by the guards.
Another man, younger than he, began to inspect him. He spoke in the same language (or so Kal assumed, his ear wasn't typically tuned for this) as the guards and the fox. He seemed to be concerned for Kal's well-being. He and the guards were quickly distracted as the Priestess arrived, however.
The crowd knelt, leaving him unattended. He didn't show the woman deference, as in his experience local holy women and men didn't deserve or want such supplication. He did move forward, however, and he held out his right hand to her to shake in greeting.
He repeated his earlier words in Faerun common, "I am Kalsinius Elar, I was attacked by the men these guards arrested me for assaulting. I have no idea where I am, or who you are. Please, explain so I can understand." Then he repeated it in Celestial, the booming words of the gods and angels seemingly being administered with Thaumaturgy, as was it's nature. Yet there seemed to be a note of something ungodly.
If his words are met with confusion, or not understood, he would simply put his hand on his chest and say "Kalsinius, Kal." He repeats the words, patting his chest. He wanted to be understood, even if it was just his name. The tone from the previous sentences became clearer. Something profoundly mortal: desperation and hope.
Just when he assumed that the day wouldn't get stranger, a portal opened up. He spins to see the cross form. He hadn't come across a portal he could trust, yet. So he instinctively rose from the ground and hovered there between the portal and the holy woman. Using his body as a shield for whatever came through. If his words cannot be heard, then his actions would be.
The guards reacted similarly to him, pointing their weapons in a defensive posture to the regal figure coming through. The woman behind him spoke clearly, again in that unfamiliar tongue, and the men in her service immediately gave the newcomer space. The newcomer was a different story.
For the first time since he arrived, he swore he could feel his mother's daedra. As if it was recoiling at this man with the golden aura. Sensing the danger he posed to both it, and her son. Kalsinius instinctively rose off the ground, hovering a foot up and kept his place between the woman and this man. His new posture put some height between the men, as normally they would be eye to eye.
He floats forward as the man spoke to the other man that inspected him, and as the woman said something that elicited surprise from the former. He again didn't understand the words they shared, but he felt... guided to speak Celestial to him. As if his mother whispered to him to take action.
"Who are you?" Kalsinius asks the man, not knowing his name was Emeris nor that he was a king. The resonant words sounding more present than either of them was.
(sorry for the post length, as well as the time it took to reply. I had a busy weekend, and I wanted to make sure I was addressing all the new information well. I am also doubling down on the language barrier. I think it would be a fun thing to over come. Let me know if I over step at any point.)

Emeris began to look around, his stance still guarded and on edge, his eyes darting to each living person there, as if he was analyzing them each in a matter of mere seconds. This analysis of his however ended the moment words left the mouth of Kalsinius. The kings eyes dart to the monk, his pupils widening with a mix of shock, fear, and anger all at once before returning to a more neutral state once more. His magic, reacting almost instinctively around him begins for shape from a mistake like golden aura to a layer of spectral golden armor, a ghostly yellow spear forming at his side. The spear however dissipates with a wave of his hand, the armor still remaining. He turns to face the stranger, his golden eyes bearing an almost haunted look within them.
"That language you speak... It is horrifyingly similar to that of the angels... Forgive me for my hasty actions, I reacted to your words on mere instinct, please know that I bear you no ill will. " His voice suddenly drops lower, a mild threatening tone within his voice. "That is however, as long as one condition isn't met. As long as you bear no loyalty to the Archangels of my realm. If you do, then I apologize, but you a threat to my world and I will have no choice but to eliminate you."
(I hope it's ok that I do this, but I'm sort of going off the basis that the Celestial language and that of the Angels of Aerune[my world that Emeris heirs from] are similar enough to understand the other while only on owning one.)
(P.S, I haven't fully written Aerune or Emeris's lore yet, so currently this is the Emeris from the middle of the first Holy War against the angels. This is a man ripped out of wartime against a race far stronger than he. Do with that what you will, just please don't interpret him as an inherently aggressive character. Sorry for the long post as well)

((I think we should get a turn based thing going on here. Just so we don't move too far along where if one of us doesn't log on for a few days, it gives us time to review and post.))
((For example: being that Spacerocks made the rp, they would get first billing, followed by the order of how we joined. Revereen would go next, then myself, VoliminalVerse, then Soulheart. Then top of the round, Spacerocks would go again. If need be, individual conversations can be done at GM [defaulting to Spacerocks] discretion.))

((I think Verse just post to drop that in which can be ignored of course. I was busy with making adjustments to my character, and I quite agree with the taking turns thing. Perhaps we can take the group to DMs where it can be more organized perhaps.))
