That town is Bridgely.
No more than a small pocket of nowhere just west of Bloomington lies the strange, hidden town of Bridgely, Indiana. If you’ve ever driven in the state, you’ve probably passed through. Maybe you stopped for gas. Maybe you slept at the motel. Maybe you don’t remember at all.
But Bridgely remembers you.
Despite its odd sense of comfort - or maybe confusion, paranoia, and unease, if you aren’t local - Bridgely is far from “normal.” People say they see things moving in the bushes at witching hour. Others report strange red lights from the farmland past the cornfields. Still more say the woods make noise - not animal noise, but something else.
Yet despite it all, the houses are full. The streets are quiet. The people seem unbothered.
They like it like this.
Some of you were born here. You’ve lived your whole life in this sleepy little town. Some of you were just passing through - on your way to Bloomington, or a friend’s house, or somewhere you’ve forgotten. Some of you don’t even know why you’re here.

On very, very, rare occasions there may be unexplained, POSSIBLY supernatural events. Minor "environmental" magic. Perhaps implies the existence of a deity or supernatural entity. Or perhaps it's just tricks?
Modern
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
Romance is desired but not required, and will balance evenly with other plot.
