Hey guys.

I got a question for anyone who can help me out.

Now I got some RP's that I wrote about three years ago and I felt that it's time to refresh the story a bit and see if anyone is willing to roleplay with them.

My question is, based on experience, how did you go about refreshing old roleplay starters/prompts.
Lizbeth Redwood (played by Fantax)

I think all depends on the RP you are planning to dust off. Some RP’s are just lasting years, some characters are simply older.
The idea of the RP is simply eternal.
If you want to dig out a complete RP and just continue on the point you left it, you might need autorisation of your partner.
If your starter is based on some actual (three years ago) happening, you might need to specify the RP date and time.
Else, everybody free to use new or older prompts, made by him/her/themself/lves.

Personally I don’t even know if ever I rummaged in old RP trunk, mostly make up new ideas (if ever they are new) 😇
Well, I’m not sure that was actually an answer, so let me give you one.

There is several different ways of refreshing a RP Prompt. Sometimes, the problem isn’t the prompt. it’s the voice. You can try writing the same setup from another character’s POV. If it was third-person before, try first-person. If it was moody and dark, lean into dry humor or sarcasm. A shift in tone or focus can completely revive the energy.

You can also start with the same setup, but throw a wrench into it. Instead of waiting for something to happen, make something happen. A scream. A crash. An unexpected visitor. An internal crisis. Whatever drama is pulling at you that day.

There is also nothing wrong with using the exact same prompt, but shifting it to fit the interests that you're looking for now.

Hope this helps!
I agree with points made by Fantax and Caffeine Queen. Another way I’ve resurrected an RP prompt is doing it from the point of view of one of the NPCs created in the first RP. A different perspective set in the same setting sort of thing. I’ve also brushed off the original RP prompt to start it again after the original character/writer I connected with disappeared. Nothing wrong with that.

I change some of the details... setting, time frame, etc. If there was something that didn't quite work the first time I remove, and I may add other small things to freshen it up.
