Hi! I'm a newbie to Star Trek. I've only been into it the last two years. I've watched the Original Series, all the movies after it, and just finished up The Next Generation. TNG is by far my favorite so far, and I'm absolutely obsessed with it. I'm already rewatching it again with a friend before eventually watching the movies.

I've also started reading the Next Gen books. I've read the first 3, and I'm on the 4th one "Survivors". This book focuses on Tasha and her backstory, as well as her relationship with Data. I adore it so far!

My favorite ship (couple) in TNG is Deanna and Riker. I adore them together and I know we get to see more of them in some of the movies which I'm excited for.

My favorite character overall is Data. I'm autistic, and though Data is not and his actions are due to his being an android, I really relate to a lot of his problems and the way he sees the world.

Who is your favorite couple, and who is your favorite character?

Are you new to Star Trek or have you been a fan for a very long time?

I've always been more of a Trek movie fan than a Trek show fan, have watched very little of any of the series but pretty much all the movies.

I'm gonna have the probably off the wall take that my favorite character is McCoy, but specifically Karl Urban's portrayal of him. Not that I don't like both, and clearly Karl's was heavily inspired by DeForest Kelley, but that doesn't change how I feel about it. 😂 I enjoy that he's like the surliest guy in space but also a genuine good dude. I've given approximately zero thought to my favorite couple!

I've been a fan of the movies anyway since I was a wee lad, it just hasn't carried over into watching much of the shows for some reason. Maybe someday!

Edit: Oh right and my favorite OG movie is either 2 or 6 depending on my mood, favorite TNG movie is First Contact (not even really a difficult choice there) and my favorite of the newer trilogy is Beyond.

Edit 2: I also forgot to mention that of the shows TNG is the one I've watched the most! I'm a fan of Riker, although a lot of that is probably based on how damned memeable Frakes is both as Riker and just in general. I really enjoy the main crew in general too, they're all a solid bunch.

I don't watch Star Trek much, I feel like I would be interested in it but I feel like again it's just one of those things that I have to be in the mindset to start and get through.

For the life of me I cannot tell you what I wrote about I have no idea.

My desk partner wrote about Star Trek. And that is where all of my knowledge comes from because we spent a lot of time reading and editing each other's papers. 😂

I don't really do the shipping thing, but I always thought Deanna should have ended up with Worf. They had a lot more chemistry to me. Beyond that, I suppose my favorite pairing would be Garak/Bashir.

My favorite Trek is Deep Space 9. I also love Voyager and Lower Decks. If I had to pick one single favorite character, it would probably be the Doctor from Voyager. His arc is excellent, and Robert Picardo is such a fantastic actor with incredible range! I also really really like Mbenga from Strange New Worlds.

I can't wait to get into the later series so I know what the heck you're talking about LOL. I love Riker so much, he's definitely memeable for sure. I like McCoy in TOS, so I'm sure I'll love him in the remake/later stuff he's in. I'm not totally sure how all the timeline works with it but yeah.

I'm not surprised you haven't thought about your favorite couple. That's very You. I'm obsessed with romance and you're the exact opposite haha.

Do you really? That would be so cool. I love Miles O'Brien, and I was so happy to see he gets a bigger role in DS9, I can't wait to get into it.

That's so amusing! And there's no shame in getting into it late or when you're in the right headspace. It took me 27 years to finally start watching and get into it. I never thought it would be my type of thing but now I'm obsessed!

I was a 'late' comer to the Star Trek universe even though I would watch Deep Space 9 when it aired when I was little. I liked Captain Sisko and Kira and Odo and Miles and Worf and Jadzia... so I guess that show was my Star Trek gateway. I never had any interest in checking out the original series or Next Generation at that time. In year 11 (high school) I was part of a fantasy cosplay club that did Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones cosplays, and I got into Star Trek again when a friend wanted to do a Star Trek cosplay. It was of the original series and I chose to be 'Dr Helen Noel' from a book someone had of original series guest stars. Of course I had to study up on my character, and a friend loaned me their DVDs of the original series. I only watched the one episode Dr Noel was in and I got to work on my costume. I then watched more episodes so I could get the blue uniform details from others. I took a liking to Nurse Chapel as I did!

Since we're supposed to talk about Next Generation, I kind of got into it by accident. I saw a random episode on TV and really liked it, and thought commander Riker was hot! . The episode was 'Frame of Mind', and I sort of made an attempt to watch more, but the early seasons were tough to watch. I did find my pace with them though. Still think the Riker-centric 'Frame of Mind' is the best episode of TNG I've seen.

Oh yes, I've seen the JJ Abrams movies as well as Strange New Worlds. I guess I have to admit to being a trekkie!
