To outsiders, Solheim is quickly labelled as barbaric: people assume the society is primitive, stuck in the Viking Age, or “behind” in its pagan beliefs, based largely on stories they heard secondhand. Rumours like these, however, generate curiosity, especially among those with the wealth and confidence to travel. Men push through snow, wind, and steep hills to verify the truth for themselves.
These outsiders, misguided by their prejudices, marched towards Solheim, fueled by a pseudo-morals rooted in an unfounded belief that they were erad icating a potential threat. However, upon their arrival, they found themselves met not with the ferocity of Viking warriors but something far more sophisticated: a society rich in customs and assets. To their surprise, they discovered not a primitive culture, but hidden wealth. In Solheim, a man’s clothing, stripped of his body, may be worth the fortune of a king.
Captured during a brutal raid, you are held captive to convince John of Lancaster, Duke of Bedford, that the lands of Solheim are ripe for conquest. Between interrogations and being paraded through the city as a prize, your only tether to humanity is a young, quiet monk tasked with your care.
