Hello!

I've been setting up chars on RPR for about a week or so now, and figured I might as well introduce myself.

I RP on the game Furcadia, and for those who play - you can almost always find me in my dream, The Downgrade. It's uploaded in one of the table-circles near the FurN Cafe.

It's been a long time since I've found any decent RP, especially since I have one rule that seems to make people automatically not want to RP with me:
I do not RP sex or any other relationship/romantic type situation.

I am happily engaged irl and view that type of RP as cheating.

I love storyline/long term RP, but I'm not one of those people who absolutely must have the whole thing planned out from the get-go, I'm more of a, "Hey, post. What happens, happens, and we'll go with it." type roleplayer.

I prefer normal, proper English. Please don't make me have to run your entire post through thesaurus.com to understand it. I also really really hate it when people use chatspeak in their posts, or smiley faces.
I treat roleplaying like... writing a book with multiple people.

I cannot fit all of my characters on this site, and I don't have the amazing amount of money it would take to buy 50+ character slots, so if you would like to contact me and I am not online on any of my listed alts, look for the user Restrict on Furcadia Alt Market.

I'm generally pretty easy-going, and I like to just talk as well as RP.

Hello there! Good to see you around here. :)

The no relationship thing for reasons of it feeling like cheating intrigues me, I must admit. If you treat RP like writing a book, doesn't that automatically mean you put a certain distance between yourself and the character where a romantic relationship is impersonal because it's just a fictional character? Not to dispute your view on it, it's absolutely fine not to want certain types of RP for any reason! I think I'm just missing a little piece where it makes 100% sense to me, and I'm curious and OCD about things making sense. If you'd rather not go deeper into that particular discussion that's fine, I realize it may be a bit of a sensitive area.

Not wanting to RP because of that is silly though! Enemies are fun to RP too, as are just friends. :) Do you like using dice with on-the-go RP? Left or right turns always seem to be more fun to me when a dice decides it. ^^

Also, if you'd like more character slots keep an eye open for contests! With RPR's birthday celebration, Kim is running contests where the prizes are things like character slots and epic membership. Some players on the site also run contests and buy others site expansions. :)
Welcome to Rpr~

I also play Furcadia, but finding dreams is far too much work for me~ I am content to lounge around, but I may find myself searching for a dream to adventure in~

May you find a plentiful abundance of decent games here~ Oh that rule! If I become invited to play with you, I will have to keep that in mind. Some of my characters love to tease, or, one of them can hardly contain herself~ Thankfully, I have other characters who would never get close to others~

Oh joy, you are my kind of roleplayer! Planning is so much work~

SANNE:

Oh, no, you're fine to ask. By "writing a book," I meant that I view it in book-form, especially with language used: If you wouldn't publish a book full of it, don't post it. I have never once seen a book series that described something like, "atramentous hues danced idly over chassis" blah blah blah.
And yes, there is a certain level of detachment there from the characters, but at the same time, I'd consider acting in a pornography as cheating too - yeah, you can argue that you're just playing a character/acting, but it'd still upset your significant other quite a bit, wouldn't it? It just makes me highly uncomfortable and I'd never consider doing something like that.

And you have no idea how many RP offers I've gotten where as soon as I say I don't RP sex they're just like, "Oh, nevermind. *poof*"

And again on the book-note, I've never gotten in to using dice, because I'd never roll a die for a book character. The methods behind structured RP like that kind of confuse me.

Well, if you ever feel like hunting us out, feel free to hop to furn and look, or simply `join Restrict. n_n

Characters that flirt and tease are all right, I suppose, as long as they don't expect it to be reciprocated. It could lead to some rather hilarious incidents, considering that one of my main characters is pretty much haphephobic and would probably fall all over himself trying to get away.

And yeah. I think planning the life out of a roleplay kind of sucks the fun and spontaneity out of it.
I may arrive sometime in Furn this week, or next~ I have been thinking of playing in a dream again and how many entertaining situations Tannis can be in~

On the topic of Furn, it is not surprising on how many players will be deterred from playing. I have found very few players who are in Furn and expect something that is not sex.

I have my sweet Tannis, who will move herself closer and closer to a person to obtain her goal~ Whatever that goal may be~ Hopefully she does not find a cleric or other holy-ish character, because that never ends well~ It is so much fun to play, but very few people are happy at the end~

Yeah, FurN is a cesspool. We've been debating moving The Downgrade to Old Towne. xD

My main character is Restrict, and he's definitely no priest. <_<; More of an absurdly tall goth drag-queen type.
Jhaes Maksa (played by Tamarind)

=D I'm still looking forward to seeing Ivi again!

Ah, that makes more sense! :) People are silly for declining RP for that reason, honestly. I've had tons of fun when my character did not like another character at all, and vice versa. I suppose it tells you what kind of motive someone has when they decline RP for such a reason. Sadly.

Dice are useful to me to make yes/no decisions. Sometimes things happen in RP that are beyond the character's control, and there is a 50/50 chance it goes either way. To avoid planning too much in the RP, I let fate decide. Either by rolling a 1d2 (one dice with two eyes, 1=first scenario 2=second scenario) or a 1d20 (between one and ten is the first scenario, eleven to twenty is the second) etc.

This can be really useful to make unexpected things happen and can sometimes force you to put your character in a situation they wouldn't end up in if you determined it yourself. Thus making the character a bit more realistic and making you think outside the box. It's helped me develop characters before. :)

Now using dice doesn't mean you have to do it at every turn, if that's what you mean with structured! I rarely use dice, only when I think it will make the RP more fun and spontaneous.

I do highly recommend trying it sometime just to see how it goes. Dice aren't for everyone though, so it's understandable if you dislike it anyway. People tend to be wrongfully intimidated by dice due to the strictness of games like DnD when it can make complete freeform RP awesome though. :) That's my experience.

(And to add to that, a lot of people who write NaNoWriMo novels use dice to help their plot along. If used right, dice can make books better!)
Old Towne? I do not think I have ever been there~

Oh good~ Tannis will play nicely then~ But do not mistake that as my goal~ I thrive on character conflict~

Strictness of DnD? I have never encountered barriers within my sessions, but I suppose that is because my DM's have rarely enforced house rules within the game~ There is a lot of improv and mid-combat banter~

SANNE:
For decision making, yeah, that does seem like a good idea. n_n
I honestly have no idea what NaNoWriMo is, though.

MISS:
OT is the newest map on Furc, it's the only AOClean map there is, to my knowledge. And like DnD or V:TM, with the character sheets and dice pools and such? I took one look at that and gave up. Too much confusion.

JHAES:
Ivi will return! Eventually. Holy lord, my commission list. ;_;

Sorry for the short replies, everyone, I'm attempting to plow my way through about 30 art commissions.
