Here's the plot as I have it currently:
The player characters are aboard a fairly massive spacefaring vessel. The ship is a Class B trading vessel called the Aphelion. The ship can carry plenty of cargo and crew, but is characterized by its oppressive and byzantine interior corridors and areas. One day while the crew is on a trade route through a region of a solar system that is somewhat unknown, they are approached by several smaller ships. Despite the Aphelion's protective measures, the smaller ships manage to slip through and board onto the Aphelion. The crew is shocked and must find out who and what was on those docking vessels and what they plan to do.

Plausible legends of ancient magic, but current magic is not common.
Far future, perhaps interstellar travel (faster than light)
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.
