In a valley situated between the Mountains of Haylor, legend has it, a large castle sits, empty. Surrounded by a forest charmed by magic, it is said to have immense stashes of gold and valuables, and its owner died long ago, leaving his treasure to whoever could claim it. Many towns surround these woods, and this legend brings its fair share of adventurers seeking out the thrill, bandits searching for the treasure, and Knights aiming to reclaim the castle for their lords, yet it remains untouched amongst the fog of the dark trees. And those who enter the forest?
They've never returned.
A second rumor lingers, much darker than the first. A powerful being, immortal some say, has supposedly charmed the forest, using it to lure victims to their doom. Some say it is a wizard, collecting bodies for horrible dark magic; others claim a much more hellish being has taken up residence, one with eyes red as blood and pointed teeth, sharp as the deadliest blades. The creature is sometimes described as black as night, clad in heavy armor with footfalls that shake the trees, and a blade that some say is cursed with magic from the darkest pits of the underworld. Some say the being takes the form of a woman, with skin as smooth and white as marble and hair that flows around her.
The townsfolk claim they cannot leave; an immense fog swallows the area and spits them right back where they entered, though it welcomes any that enter. They speak of disappearances, of graves having been dug up from inside their caskets, such an occurrence becoming so frequent that they have taken to burning bodies to prevent this. Fear has claimed the valley, and this is where you come in.
Perhaps you are a Knight, sent by the king to respond to these growing concerns. A bandit, in search of endless riches at whatever cost. Or perhaps a traveler, who's been snared in their travels by the thick fog? Whoever you are and whatever your motivations, you've (unwillingly or not) been pulled into the game of the creature that rules the fog, and it will take wits and courage to overcome the beast that terrorizes the valley.
The question now, is: are you up for the challenge?
Well! I'm quite certain this is the best topic i've written! I went a little overboard and I apologize! Looking for multiple partners, I will obviously be taking on the role of the Vampire, as well as tossing in my mercenary Atropos while she is of use, since the Vampire's identity will remain unclear for a little while.
One thing to make note of-- please, if interested, be prepared for multiple paragraphs and please make use of regular grammar rules. I've had far too many wonderful plot ideas fallen flat due to a drastic difference in RP style-- if you are not used to high writing volume then I'm afraid this may not be the RP for you. And please don't feel bad if I decline your character, It's nothing personal.
Hopefully this generates a bit of interest!

Magic is common.
Iron age
Wartime/soldier RPs. Combat is a given and will likely be graphic, but there's the potential for non-combat "in the trenches" scenes. World War 2, Vietnam, etc.
Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred.
I would love to join this as any version of this character.
This seems to be a serious challenge... not sure I can give it a miss.
Lord knight Pentre is far too proud to consider failure, he certainly will subdue the beast and become the lord of the castle
Blackbeard / Calico are far too greedy to not go for the booty
Aynor is far too reckless to not go for the adventure and claim the glory
Prince Merthyr is far too righteous to let such creature terrorize the helpless
Sorceress lady Morgana is far too curious to not venture into the forest
King Conrad is far too cruel to dare such rumours cause these peasants to question his authority
Sooooo which character do you think best for the story?

Wow! That sounds fantastic! If you’d like to pick any one, they all sound pretty fitting, I’m currently on the last few minutes of my break at work so I’m running a bit short on time 😅

You would not believe how biased I am to Pentre these days, but since I’m already involved with him in two different forums, why don’t we go with Blackbeard and Calico, or Merthyr if you’d prefer. Or Conrad if you’d really like.
dude, i'd love to join in on this
characters though, hm....
maybe either orpheus, evelina, krystalline, or xios would fit best in this

Would Crow here fit in?
Having a strong bias towards his wraith form, I think I'll use it.

Ohhhh you would be great in this one !
I hope strawberry agrees
Meet righteous at heart... forced to steal to live... nothing personal... sword for hire... Calico Jack
The proper drunken brigand, brutally honest and reckless, Blackbeard, who has a knack for getting into trouble with the law, steals because... what can I say, thieves steal, pirates plunder... it's what we do!

And the master puppeteer, the wealthy and lordly Sir Henry Morgan whom you should watch out for: ambitious, arrogant, he will never take no for an answer and if he cannot persuade by legitimate means then he resorts to darker methods such as swords for hire well paid in gold to have the obstacle removed quietly, by bribery and stealth, whilst keeping his hands, officially clean from wrongdoing

If the beast doesn't come forth willingly, lure it out by throwing hapless victims and ruthless bandits and deadly warriors at it until it moves on. Those who die become... collateral damage...

Ya know what. I'm gunna change it up a bit and make him a shapeshifter, so I can used all three forms!
The Righteous Sarafan warrior
The Ruthless Vampire Lord
The Truth-Seeking Soul-Devouring Wraith

I second that too!
If Sir Crow is here I most definitely have to have Conrad / Merthyr for sure.
A knight of such callibre requires a worthy prince and king

Awesome, thank you

And that's up to you, Tus--I was planning on playing Crow as a wanderer, not an actively serving knight. But if you threw Conrad and Merthyr into the mix, that might make for some interesting interplay.

Sounds fantastic! With Krystaline and Crow, we should have all four, plus the extras Tus is bringing alone
