An open-ended sandbox sci-fi RP about a gang of kids trying to get by in a harsh lawless land. Street Rats is an RP group set in a hideout that acts as a safe haven for kids living on the streets.

Characters can be pretty much any race, so long as they are roughly humanoid and not too absurd. Fantasy races are permitted, but magic is not present in this RP world.

Ground Rules:

- Players aged 16+. I want the group to be comfortable for older players to take part.

- Characters aged 8-15 years. Old enough for sufficient independence, young enough to still get up to childish antics.

- Paragraphs. 2+ Paragraphs average post length, 1 paragraph minimum. I won't say you can't make shorter posts, but they must be a rarity and only when you've fully ruled out the possibility of writing more.

- No sexual content, or eroticism. These are kids, for goodness sake. I will allow basic puppy-love romances and crushes, but nothing too adult.

- No god-modding, over-powered characters, or other things that could derail the RP, break the balance or otherwise ruin the experience for the majority of players.

- No OOC drama. I want the RP to be a friendly environment OOC, even if it might get dark and unforgiving IC.

If at any time an active player needs to take a break or feels they won't be able to keep up with the pace of the RP, they can easily drop out simply by having their character leave the hideout for whatever reason (e.g. going on a scavenging mission or even just going for a walk). Similarly, this means that the group can remain open for new members indefinitely.

As the group has now been fully set up, new players will have to be newcomers and cannot be established gang members.

Note: Dice use is optional, but recommended for skill contests between characters.

Like last time, I'd like to join as an older character to try and keep the ages varied. Colin's insanity and military knowledge will make him an interesting character down in the Undercity.

Due to the RP having already started, the lore and setting have been set in stone. And that includes the motivation for the creation and recruitment status of the gang itself. Whilst the setting technically might be one where an adult character could potentially arrive at the gang hideout, there is little cause for them to stay there (nor would they be likely to be allowed to stay there), and thus no point in accepting adult characters into the group. It would be unfair to make exceptions to the age requirement and then turn down others based on it; and once too many of the characters are adults, the original premise of the RP will become lost.

Secondly, I feel an insane adult character would not fit in well with the theme of the RP. This is more of a grittier sci-fi Peter Pan sorta deal. Colin is way too dark and serious for what we're going for.

Therefore, I can't accept your request.

Do you think my witty guy here has a chance? He’s brilliant with making cool gadgets, like the kid from the goonies. I could lower the age, but I would like it if he was the “Older brother” everyone looks up to.

I can't really make character age exceptions, as then to be fair, I'd have to lift the age limit for everyone, then chances are the number of adults (and older teens) could end up outnumbering children and the original premise of the RP would be lost.

Your character could be aged down to 15 though. If he has an air of maturity, he could still have the older brother effect, especially to the younger kids. He'd have to earn it though... especially given some of the kids we currently have in the group.
