What is this event?
JLUnited, our AU Marvel & DC RP Game, is hosting a sort of 'Open House' In Character Holiday Event! You don't have to be a player on JLU to join in the fun on Discord, though our forum half of the event will require you to go through the usual joining process. Our event on Discord requires no character apps, references, or other prerequisites, though we do ask that you follow JLU's House Rules.

The first thing that catches the eye upon entering the house is the immense Christmas tree set up in the middle of the entry hall. It is decked in red and gold, and green, and what look to be tiny, twinkling candles tucked in among the glass cranberry strings. It reaches nearly to the ceiling and fills the whole room with the scent of real cinnamon and woodsy pine.

A mock display of old Victorian toys has been set up beneath it, tastefully roped off by more pine garlands to keep them safe. A man in a coat and top hat sits at a large black piano nearby, and holiday music from ages past floats quietly through the room beneath the current of cheerful conversation.

Beyond in the ballroom more tiny candles have been styled along the ceiling to make them seem as if they are magically floating, creating a reflection of a thousand more in the polished floors blow. The whole room seems to glow with a soft light.

Some dance there, others enjoy the bountiful spread laid out on the other end of the room. There is roast goose with chestnut stuffing, sliced ham, Yorkshire puddings, mini mince pies, ginger breads, hot chocolate, elaborately decorated sweets and pastries, and so much more than one person could ever hope to sample in one night. In the corner, for adults, there is a bar serving Hot Brandy and Rum Punch, Mulled Cider, and special coffees. No doubt Alfred had a part to play in the menu selection this year.

There are parlor games to be played in smaller rooms off to the sides, each different, and for those who wish to brave the cold, an ice skating rink and a winter garden, just outside. Snow falls softly past the windows on the garden side, and covers the garden itself in a soft white blanket, likely helped along by cleverly hidden snow machines.

Another, smaller tree has been set up outside, dressed all in red to contrast with the white snow. Brilliant crimson poinsettia baskets mark the borders of the ice rink, and there are plenty of glittering fairy lights to light up the pond and paths well into the night.

Event Rules
★ No references required, but use common sense!
No character apps are required! You don't need staff's approval to jump in with a character. If you feel like giving others a character app, bio, or visual reference to go off of, there's a space to leave it on the server. Please note that while none of these things are required, we do recommend one as it is often helpful to give others at least a quick reference to go off of.

Keep in mind that while we are accepting canons and original characters from all over for this event, they should still fit in with the genre of the site. That means that Darth Vader or Link, or an OC from the Lord of the Rings world probably aren't good choices.

★ Check your tail at the door, please!
The JLUniverse is a world full of strange beings, a fantastic blend of monsters and men, magic and technology, mutants, aliens, and people who fly. That being said, those who look distinctly inhuman are often met with suspicion in this world. Someone with blue skin or a tail likely wouldn't be seen walking easily down the street. Things like talking animals and fire breathing dragons do exist, but usually in the shadows, not at a Wayne Manor Holiday party. Keep this in mind when joining.

That's not to say inhuman characters can't join us, but likely they would be in some sort of disguise this out in the open-- an illusion spell, a hologram, or even a big trench coat-- get creative, but make sure to use your common sense here!

★ Don't type with your face!
This event will be more lax in terms of caring about where your writing is at, but we do expect everyone joining to be able to form sentences that won't make their English teachers cry. Discord has a built in Spellchecker. Use it! Keep a general eye on your grammar and spelling and we'll be happy.

★ No one likes a party pooper!
This is meant to be a fun, light hearted event. If you have a villain, feel free to join with them, but keep them in their civvies, so to speak. This isn't the place for world conquering schemes or pick pocketing, and while not everyone has to get along, if altercations become more than words, IC security will escort your characters out. Please keep the mood of the event.

Just like the site, this event is OOCly 18+ Only. That being said, any mature or NSFW content should be taken to private messages. Not everyone wants to read that. Swearing is fine as long it avoids hate speech like slurs.
