This was a bad idea...

Nowhere was a vast place. Which meant traveling from one side of the world to the other, was quickly believed to be frankly... near to impossible. But, the rare souls that treked across the many terrains Nowhere had to offer - for either trade reasons or for life purposes - all became well acquainted with certain routes and various short cuts; where to stop for a nice break and where to gets some supplies when needed. All was deemed well if one knew where to go and how to get from A to B safe and sound... But...

Some places are seen as haunted by myths. Rumours telling of forests being lairs to terrible beasts. And some say what lurks beyond the looming shadows, is more horrible than death itself. One of those places being the Forest of Shadows. A place no soul ever dares to think of entering unless they desire to never see the rising sun ever again. No maps, no journals, no records, no notes about the depths of the Shadow Forest exist - simply because whoever enters the forest at their own risk, is never seen again...

Of course, Drake knew all of this. The supposed curses, the rumours, the legends, the myths. He's traveled enough to hear quite a few stories of the famous forest; stretching for at least two hundred miles from West to East, and spreads out further for who knows how long. The only factual, proven information which is widely known about the Shadow Forest is how long it takes to travel around the forest in all. Which takes about a entire week and a bit if you're lucky.

As said before, Drake travels a lot. He's a travelling Blacksmith who jumps and trundles from here to there. Setting up trade and making a profit. However, his goal for his profit isn't always reached meaning spare change for supplies is cut short. This time hardly any profit was made, which meant hardly any supplies. His next journey was long and was one that included skirting around the Shadow forest.

Drake now stood at the edge of the forest. The naked earth path at his feet winding off to then make a sharp turn to the right once meeting the forests boarder, as if to scared to carry on through between the cluster of towering trees.

He had already ran out of food, feeling his hunger become more painful after at least four days with nothing to eat. His supply of water was only a few precious drops now. And as for rest, he has hardly managed to get a wink of peaceful sleep for the past two nights. In all, he was hungry, thirsty, tired and fed up.

He stood for another second or two. Shuffling from one foot to another, looking between the winding path and the ebony forest before him. He couldn't last another day without food or water. And the fatigue he felt from carrying his whole trade was beginning to take its toll on his body... Perhaps there was a short cut through the Shadow Forest? It would be quicker, and Drake was far to tired to even give a second thought about the haunting myths and tall tales.

With a sigh and grunt, he willed himself to start shuffling off once more, abandoning the earthy path; straying into the dark forests.

----

It wasn't long before Drake was deep into the depths of the grand forest. He had underestimated the utter blackness of the nightmare woods. As he pressed on further and further, the thick canopy above blocked out all of the sun's warm rays of once comforting light, leaving the air to be cold and dark. So dark in fact Drake could hardly see a foot in front of him - causing the giant to bump into numerous trees and nearly thwack his eye out on a few twisted branches.

The darkness pressed in on him from all sides and his body screamed for him to run. But his mind was too worn, his knees becoming shaky and more weak with very step he took. Even now he could feel his eyelids becoming heavy. Was he really this tired? This hungry? Or was it the forest playing in him? He wasn't sure.

The trees looked more menacing, their gnarly branches looking like hands reaching out to grasp any unfortunate passing soul. The wails of the howling winds carried a chill cold enough to freeze anyone down to the bare bones. The eerie sounds clicked and clack from all around him, building upon the ever growing paranoia Drake had weighing him down.

He couldn't remember which way he was going. Was it that way? Or this way? Drake tried to think, which way had he come? He looked back but only saw darkness. Just then, the loud snap of a twig made the giant jump, causing him to stumble back in a panic and fall. Landing with a harsh THWUMP. In doing so, his head collided with the ground. A pain shot through his head and neck as he began to see the world fading away, until it was pitch black. The fall knocking Drake out stone cold...

Leaving him completely venerable to the horrifying monsters and haunting myths of the Shadow Forest....

She doesn't remember how long she's been out here and frankly she doesn't care. Shadow made this her home when she found that it could protect her. That the forest can bend to her will if she wanted it to do so. The Forest of Shadows. She snorted the first time she has heard someone call it that and found the name only too fitting for her.

It wasn't very often someone would wander through the woods. The first group of men that came out were simply lost. When she approached them they thought they could take advantage of her. They were wrong. None of the men left the forest that day and the silver haired girl would take whatever they had on them. In the deeper part of the forest she had managed to make herself a decent little one room house with a fireplace. There she would place the few things that she had looted.

Many people came and met the same fate as the first group of men. Shadow was a great hunter even if she couldn't see her prey and she supposed it put her at a better advantage then most. Her feet didn't even make a sound when she ran across the leaf covered forest floor. Currently she was chasing something that could be compared to a deer but there was something a little more unsettling about it. Shadow could care less what it looked like as long as it tasted good. She expertly dogged the trees as she felt the vibrations around her when she ran. Her head snapped up when she heard the creature step on a branch creating a loud snapping sound.

Shadow wasn't expecting the next part to follow. A sound of something large falling caused her to stop her chase her immediately and stand still, listening. A black fog ran over her fingers in anticipation of an attack but she could no longer hear anything. She clicked her tongue gently trying to find the object that had fallen over. The girl found it quite easily and hesitantly made her way over. As she got closer she noticed a faint heart beat. Human?

Such an easy target for her to kill and take his things. So why did she hesitate? She chalked it up to being lonely in the woods here. Surly she could take him back to her little house and make sure he was alright. Shadow figured she had caught enough rabbits earlier. With a sigh she brought her hands up in front of her. The back mist swirled down and away from her towards the unconscious body. It lifted him in the air as if he weighed as much as a feather. .

A short walk and she had opened the door to the house. Her finger point to the little pile of blankets she slept on and the black mist carefully laid the man on the makeshift bed. Shadow went to her little fire place to make a fire and maybe start on a soup.

Everything. Hurt.

Drake began to slowly wake from his unconscious state, but oh how he wished that his mind would've just stayed knocked out for a little longer. The first thing he was greeted with, was the thumping pain pounding in his head; pounding so hard he could hear the pulsing of his blood in his ears. His eyes hurt too, refusing to open no matter how much his mind screamed for them to at least squint - but they remained glued shut, as if the outside world was too painful to see or even witness.

Not to mention the rest of his body. Yes his head hurt and his eyes didn't want to co-operate, but now his body was beginning to complain too. Bombarding his senses with various quibbles about the pains in his back; the aches in his joints; the swelling in his ankles. However, his stomach was the one to complain the most, grumbling loudly as a numbing hunger seeped into his body at a quicker rate now.

Drake thought this was it. He was probably lost in some deep dark hole in the Shadow forest never to be found ever again...

Until he felt something. It wasn't the damp cold forest ground, no, what was under him was soft to the touch, warm and comforting. Even his surroundings where warmer now, the smell of firewood, the sound of crackling which Drake deemed to be a small lazy fire. This place was new.... But cozy. A gentle safe place prehaps? Or maybe it was all just an elaborate daze dream...

He wasn't sure...

Drake tried his damn hardest to will himself to sit up, to move in anyway at all, to even speak a little! But with the minute amount of energy he had left, the man was able to open his eyes slightly - being greeted with a blurry view - mumbling slightly.

Where was he...?

He needed to find out...
Shadow (played by geekygirl7166)

When she had managed to get the fire started shadow went to the corner opposite of her bed. From the loop of her belt she had pulled out her hunting knife and a few smaller creatures she had caught while she was out earlier. Shadow sat down and made herself comfortable by leaning back against the wall. She took the first creature, a small rabbit, and bowed her head saying a silent thank you to the creature. Every time she had to kill a creature to eat she felt bad and always made sure to say thank you. Men on the other hand she could care less about killing.

Shadow sat quietly in her corner skinning and cutting the animals into a pot. She also put some vegetables that she found earlier into the pot as well. Satisfied that she had placed enough in the pot she carefully brought the pot over to the fireplace and hung it over the flames so that it could start cooking. The animal fur she had took outside to let it dry. She could use it later. When she returned to the house the silver haired girl smiled to herself as she finished.

It was only then did she register that her house guest was starting to stir into consciousness. Hesitantly she had crept closer to him hoping she was in his field of vision but far enough that they couldn't just lunge out at her. Precautionary she kept her knife behind her back. Her black mist was creeping from her fingers as well. Shadow cleared her throat. "Hello?" The single word had a thick accent but she spoke softly.

Nothing had changed about Drake since he was last conscious.

His body still ached, his head was still throbbing, his eyes were still sore. At this point he would've given absolutely anything to stop the pounding of his heart and the hazy mist that cloaked his mind. He just wanted to be pain free; have some good food inside him. Was that too much to ask for? Alas, aparantly it was.

It took him a few more long seconds before he could lift his head up. Granted it wasn't by much, but it was enough to allow Drake to see where he was. He could definitely feel soft furs underneath him. A bed perhaps? He wasn't too sure. Heck he wasn't even sure if he was awake or still knocked out cold in the middle of the forest. But what he saw. Wasn't the forest at all. It was... A house? After a blink or two, his vision focused slightly. Only to suddenly see a figure standing a few feet away from him.

Immediately Drake lurched up with a yelp, not expecting anyone to be there. The sight of being in a strange place was worrying, but seeing this new person freaked him out more.

"Wha...Where am I!? Who are you!?" Drake nearly choked on his words. He didn't know this place nor this odd being before him. Yes he was a large fellow but to his defense, any sane person would have been freaked out to wake up in a random place and confronted by a random person.

Drake then froze, feeling a foggy pain fill his head; a pain which was all too familiar by now. He groaned as he slumped forward slowly, holding his head in his head. Not only that but a pitiful growl escaped from his empty stomach, adding hunger pangs to the list of endless pains.

"Look... I wa-... I am lost. Just... Please don't hurt me...please. Take anythin' yeh wan' from my bag..." Drake huffed, his vision becoming blurry again. If this person was some bandit or thief, Drake simply couldn't care less anymore. He didn't have any energy to spare to worrying and fretting over what might happen next He was too worn out and was still void of any strength to dart out and flee for his life. Nor did he have any energy to fight.
Shadow (played by geekygirl7166)

She stood quietly as she waited for him to come to. Her face was blank and passive.

His yelp startled her as she took a few steps back and raised her little knife in front of her as a defensive reaction. Her black mist swirling around the handle. Shadow held her position as she listened to him sputter out his questions. She felt something for him and it took her a moment to realize what if was that she was feeling. The girl found she pitted him much like she did the animals that were injured.

Hesitantly she dropped her knife back to her side and turned on her heel back towards her soup pot. Shadow kept a tight grip on her knife as she made her way to a set of cabinets. Her fingers brushed along each one until stopped and sung open one of them. Going on to her tippy toes to reach for a bowl. Returning to the pot she Stirred it once more before filling one of the bowls. The girl slipped her knife into her waist band

Slowly she brought the bowl over to the man and held it out as far from her as possible. She tried to morph her face into a softer expression, to show that she did not mean any harm. "I don't want to harm ya." Her voice was scratchy. "If I did you would already be dead." She added without much thought on how it sounded. She went back to the fire and made herself a bowl as well. Shadow sat near the fire feeling the warmth on her back as she ate her food.
