[PostApoc Steampunk] Okay, I know, sounds rather contradictory but our storyline is pretty solid. Read this and will all be made clear:
The year is 2055, a mere two decades after the world's third and likely final World War. Succumb to mutual destruction, the world's largest countries' strife for power fuels -- fossil fuels, wood which was scarce thanks to deforestation, and petroleum, finally came to a head during the year 2020. When the disagreements between countries became too much, bombs peppered every continent, and those who weren't hit suffered the devastating effects of the nuclear fallout. Those wise enough to take refuge in the worlds' natural caverns, as well as some man-made ones, waited out the destruction. Now, they wander their respective lands in search of undisturbed resources with which they might rebuild and ultimately repopulate.
Twenty years later we come to the present. Basic radio communication has since been established between the continents and their countries, and small computer networks were able to be salvaged. Unfortunately, the materials and manufacturing equipment for more advanced technology was destroyed, but the massive compression and heat of multiple explosions from the bombs had created a new kind of metal which could be burned, the smoke harvested and renewed much like water. This was used, in tandem with other scrap metals the survivors could find, to invent for the second time, the steam engine.
In lieu of digital controllers and circuit boards, the world's electronic devices use cogs and sprockets. Brass is where the good money lies, although there are some who hope to reinvent the world's economic system rather than re-adopt the age old Capitalism, Communism, and the like. These are what brought the war about, and will only lead the world to repeat their apocalyptic history.
Other than this, our rules would be as follows
1. Humans only. There will be magic later on, but humans only.
2. No characters under the age of 16, unless pre-approved by an administrator. This ensures that any romantic involvement won't fall under the category of "age play".
2.5 Also, characters under the age of 16 would be less than useless in this world.
3. Fighting is permissible, but should not be the ultimate goal in this scenario.
4. When an admin says "This isn't allowed", IT IS NOT ALLOWED.
5. This game is ultimately designed to be as fun as possible. Please try to enjoy it without hindering the enjoyment of others.
Remember that EVERYTHING is negotiable right now and we're still tweaking some stuff about it, so just let us know if you think something should be done another way and we'll put it to a vote ^^
Oh, and there's just one little catch. Forum RP would not be available. We would be playing on either IMVU or Skype, neither of which has been decided upon.
