Kiros leapt over the tall grasses, muttering small curses underneath her breath as she darted through the fields. Her accent was thick, yet unfamiliar to anyone of the area. Her lower half was in the shape of a deer’s, the coat a shade of grey with white freckles plastered across the back. Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked over her shoulder sharply, growling as she spotted the man who had been chasing her. She turned and shuffled through her satchel, which hung around her broad shoulders, wishing she had some sort of defense. Seeing as she had lost her weapon earlier that day, she groaned in frustration and swiftly turned to her right, kicking the soil from the ground as she did.
The Centaur muttered a chant beneath her breath, clenching her fists as she struggled to catch any oxygen in her lungs. The air shifted, and, for a moment, a blue aura surrounded her lower half before she inhaled sharply, her animal-like legs now in shape of a human’s. She took a moment to regain her balance, though she was quick to continue moving, knowing the man was close behind her.
The man appeared to be a guard, seeing as he wore glistening steel armor and carried a sword at his waistband. He had been chasing her for using ‘Witchcrafts’ in a public plaza of a nearby town. Her hazel eyes shimmered with irritation. She hasn’t known ‘Witchcrafts’ was banished in the area, but she had also been careful to keep out of sight. Apparently, this time she had slipped and was spotted rather quickly as she shifted from a human into a Centaur.
Kiros narrowed her eyes, peering at the house in the distance. "Hault! Stop where you are!" The man’s voice bellowed, causing her to run faster than before. She reached the house, leaping over the steps to the porch before frantically knocking on the door.
"C’mon.. C’mon!" She begged quietly, tapping her foot as she looked over once more. The guard was gaining ground, though he was about a a quarter of a mile from her. Panicked, she continued knocking on the door. This time, it was a bit louder than the first time.
