You are one of the most powerful pirates around, one of rhe youngest captains too, people fear you all around the world, and you have just arrived at kingdom ready to get revenge, their king killed your parents and you are prepared to have no mercy. Then you meet her, the eldest of the princesses trying to run away from her bodyguards in the beach, wearing clothes a princess is not supposed to wear, and you are captivated by her fierce behavior.
On very, very, rare occasions there may be unexplained, POSSIBLY supernatural events. Minor "environmental" magic. Perhaps implies the existence of a deity or supernatural entity. Or perhaps it's just tricks?
Renaissance
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
Romance is required from early on, but there will be some semblance of a plot beyond the relationship.
