She was a bit startled when he appeared next to her but gave him a weak smile, "H-hey..." she said quietly, "You probably should walk home alone... You wouldnt want anyone to think that you're actually friends with me," Natalia said sadly.

He looked at her oddly for a few seconds, Nero kind of thought that they were friends at this point. It was funny he never really socialized much but her he was actually spending time with someone. He let out a small laughed and grinned cheerfully, overshadowing any sense of intimidation that he had and replacing it with pure joy, "Stop being so depressing...", his smile subsided to a small one, but his eyes still had kindness in them. He didn't really care about what other people thought of him, their petty opinions would not forge his fate.

She looked up at him and tried to give him a real smile but she couldn't and it was still pretty obviously forced. The corners of her lips were quivering and after a few seconds she looked down, "I-it's hard not to be..." she said quietly. "I barely have a home, the ones who are supposed to take care of me hurt me, my only clothes are what you gave me yesterday and hardly anyone ever talks to me. The only good thing I have is grades... And... I guess if you're really my friend I have you..."

Nero frowned giving her pity, he didn't like the situation that she was in. He wanted to help her so badly but she wouldn't let him right now, maybe she would later. Nero nodded at her last statement saying, "Yeah...I'm here for you...Things will get better, I promise". He wanted to make her happy, there had to be someway that he could make her feel better. He promptly remembered that today was Friday and they had the weekend off, he looked at Natalia and smiled, "Hey, what are you doing tomorrow?". He didn't mean it as anything but simply hanging out, it would be better than being at her home, at least that's what he thought, hopefully she would be able to get out of the house.

"Probably cleaning..." she replied, "Why do you ask?" she looked up at him curiously. All hope of ever being out of the house on the weekend had long ago left her mind when she had tried asking if she could go and hang out with a non-existent friend.
Her foster mom had very bluntly told her that she didn't have any friends, have her a black eye and then made her clean the kitchen, which was in terrible condition from that morning's breakfast.

Nero wouldn't know that, and her mother was in for a big surprise if she thought she didn't have any friends. He thought about telling his mother about what's happening at school, but he decided not to intrude just yet. He smiled at her and said, "Well, if you have the time, we can go and do something tomorrow?", he didn't want to pressure her about it, he could tell she was a shy girl.

She blushed yet again and looked up at him, "I-I guess I could ask... But... Helena migh need proof that I'm actually going with someone... You might need to pick me up..." she said quietly, "I don't really know how she'll react..."

Nero hoped that he wouldn't get her in trouble. He nodded to her and gave her a reassuring smile, "Yeah, I'll stop by your house tomorrow, and walk you home today so I know where you live", he said cheerfully. Maybe she would concentrate on tomorrow rather than her problems, if this works that is, hopefully her mom is rational with outsiders. He was sure that her 'parents' weren't idiots so he guessed that they would be very normal with him, if not to friendly to cover up any doubts.

She nodded and took a step closer to him, finding comfort in his presence. About ten minutes later they arrived at a rather large but very old house. "This is it..." she said and looked at Nero, now reconsidering his offer but didn't want to say so now.
"B-bye..." she said and looke down at the ground then entered, doing everything she could to make herself look small.

Nero looked at the old house, he couldn't decide whether it looked good or not, it was worn out. He watched as she slowly walked up to her doorstep, looking very helpless, making Nero slightly sad. He waved and said, "I'll pick you up at 1'o'clock tomorrow!", he shouted out before turning and heading to his own home. Nero had his usual work-out routine before heading to bed after a nice shower. The day finally came as Nero opened up his eyes he looked over at the clock, it was 12:15, so he had plenty of time to get ready. He hopped into the shower making sure he was especially clean and brushed his teeth. After putting on his usual clothing he grabbed his wallet and walked out the door, telling his mom that he would be out today before he left, and she in turn said nothing back due to me going out a lot. He arrived at Natalia's house, five minutes before 1'o'clock, he gently knocked on the door and waited, crossing his arms.

A young wolf girl opened the door and looked up at him curiously, "A-are you here to hurt us?" she asked and her tail went between her legs. Natalia came running up behind her.
"Alex, go back inside, he's my friend," she smiled at the little canine. The shark/fox knelt down in front of Alex and gently brushed a strand of hair out of her eyes, "I'm going to be with him for the rest of the day... And... Maybe until tomorrow," she said and kissed her forehead, "Be good for Helena and Troy," she smiled at her and stood then walked out and quietly closed the door.
"That was Alex... She's the only one who isn't mean to me," Natalia said with an embarassed smile. She was wearing the same clothes and there was still blood on her back. She hadn't changed or showered it seemed.

When the wolf girl opened the front door and asked Nero if he was going to hurt her, It kind of hit him hard and he hung his head, 'Do I really look like a mugger?!', he thought to himself. He quickly looked up and forced a friendly smile, slowly twitching his lips into place, which probably made him look even more scary. Nero was thankful when Natalia quickly showed up, making the situation a whole lot less confusing. He admired her kindness to her little sister, that actually brought an actual smile to his face, then he realize that she said she might not be home till tomorrow, it made him shiver only slightly. He noticed that she was still injured and not bathed, so he thought up of an idea, although it might be silly, especially since it was in September. He was going to see if she wanted to go swimming at the beach, since their town was a 1 hour bus ride to the beach, he could also buy her appropriate clothing. Nero nodded to Natalia at the last statement and said, "What do you think about the beach?". It might seem a bit stereotypical due to her race, but he was going for it.

She thought about it for a minute, "Sure... But not to swim... If the water is too cold I get sick," she said quietly and lapsed her hands together behind her back, just above the base of her tail.

He looked up at the sky, unlike yesterday the clouds were completely out of the sky, he assumed that the water would be warm by now. Nero nodded to her, "Okay...Do you have a swimsuit?", he would have to buy one himself, but it wasn't much of a hassle, due to his 'job'.

"These are the only clothes I have," she said quietly, gesturing to the clothes she had given him, "I won't be getting any other clothes for another month..." she said sadly and kept her eyes to the ground and her ears were drooping.

Nero gave a small smile, "Well, I'm going to buy you one", he began walking and motioned for her to follow. He was going to also buy her much more lady like clothing, but they would have to do that after the beach because they didn't have anywhere to keep it. Nero new the way around town, and could get to the mall fairly easily, they would arrive in about 20 minutes. He seemed determined and not a lot was going to change his mind. As they were walking, he asked, "So, how was yesterday?", he said with slight worry, he was of course referring to her foster mom's reaction, and if she was mistreated.

"Nothing happened," she said, "She didn't have a reason to hurt me do she didn't," she said softly, "My siblings started picking on me more than usual though... Except Alex and she's not even the youngest," Natalia whimpered a bit and kept her eyes to the ground still.

He gave her a small frown, but he reached out and gently pulled her chin up to look at him but quickly drew his hand away. "Chin up...You're with me now, only good things can happen", he beamed brilliantly, and kindness fading into his eyes. He turned his head back to look at the path ahead of him, he didn't quiet understand why she was troubled so much...it wasn't fair. Nero felt a sharp pain in his right leg as he walked, but he thought it was nothing, giving a small almost unnoticeable grunt. He had an injury there that was still recovering, but that didn't stop him, nothing did.

Her heart melted when he said that and she stared into his eyes adoringly, "Thank you for everything," she said quietly and looked down again, "I... You make me feel important. I know that I'm not... But it feels good, so thank you."

Nero nodded to her, but he was slightly unsatisfied when she began to say that she was unimportant. He quickly added, "When it boils down, no person can be greater than another....We all bleed, cry, and smile. You just have to realize that your life is your own to do with, and nothing is more valuable than ones life....", he didn't think his words would mean anything, but at least he was saying he cared, and thought that she was just as important than anyone else.
