The red haired girl was wandering the town and with no one interesting to interact with, was very thoroughly bored. It was a cold day too, the worst kind of cold too. Hero was cold to her center, and with her only mediocre clothing, she couldn't cling on to any warmth. She tried, pulling her arms close to her as she walked but she couldn't stop the chills going up her back. She changed her route, heading instead away from the center of town to the outskirts.

(Sorry it took so long to respond. It gets very busy every once in a while.)

Music rang in Iveth's ears as she jogged down the sidewalk, her sleeves rolled up to her elbows. Though it was still cold she warmed herself up enough to stand the chill, but her nose burned with cold every time she would breathe in. That was pretty much the only thing she hated about the winter. Track season was about to begin as school came into the second semester, but winter had just started. What could be worse? Maybe putting some idiot to run the 800m dash, so then again it wasn't too bad.

From anyone else's view it'd seem like she was talking to herself when really she was mouthing the words to her jam. M83. She quickened her pace as her checkpoint came into view and began to sprint the last few meters she had until crashing into someone.

Hero let out a yelp of surprise, as she was knocked back to the ground. She landed hard on her behind and sat stunned for a moment, her little head spinning uncomfortably. As she came to sorts, she rubbed her head and groaned lightly before wobbling back up to her feet. She looked at the woman who'd knocked her over pitifully, "Owies." She smiled weakly, "Are you ok?" She enquired softly, with one hand pressed against her back to support it as she straightened fully.

Iveth gave her wrist that she must've fallen on a small shake before quickly getting her back to her feet, "Yeah. Fine. Not the first time I hit someone." A grin reached her lips at the thought before her eyes scanned over the woman before her and she pulled out her earbuds, "Sorry about that." She patted off the dust from her sweater and sweatpants before standing straight again, her curls disheveled once again. The many times she tried to keep them under control.. It was no use really.

"I've never seen you around here before," she supposed it'd awkward to just stand there without bubbling up some type of conversation.

Hero pulled a wisp of hair that had fallen onto her face before responding. "Oh! I guess not, I don't really get out a lot." She adjusted her hooded jacket that had slipped off her shoulder, and scratched at her knuckles. "I don't really do much, outside of home." She smiled a bit and looked up at Iveth briefly, to get a clearer look of her. "What were you running from?" The idea of running for exercise was a thought foreign to Hero, it hardly occurred to her that people would be doing that or to look out for them. She hardly ever paid attention to where she was going, so it was hardly the first time someone had crashed into her.

There was no helping the grin that appeared on Iveth's face as she stared at the redhead, searching for any clue that maybe it was a joke..? No, it was really a question. "I jog every morning to get prepared for track season," she rubbed her gloved hands together in attempt to keep them warm. It hadn't been till she stopped that she had even begun to feel the chill. "I'm Iveth by the way," she pulled her hood over her head, "and you are..?"

"Oh, ok." She looked at the girl's hands, her attention brought to the rapid movement. She looked up, and smiled widely. "Hero, my name is Hero. Nice to meet you Iveth,that's a nice name !" she mimicked Iveth, rubbing her hands together. She then wrapped her bare fingers in her scarf when that failed to warm them up. "Do you like track season?" She questioned, looking her over.

"Nice name, Hero," the name was.. Unique, maybe even suiting if she got to know the girl better. "Ah, yeah.. One of my best areas," she gave a slight shrug and rolled her shoulders a bit, "What school do you go to? I mean, I haven't really seen you around mine." She looked to be a highschooler, a college student too maybe, but Iveth was sure that she'd know if they had attended the same school, it was more likely that she wasn't from around the area.

She blinked and pursed her lips, "Just the local one. I'm not at school all that often," she rubbed her neck and smiled again a little. "I get sick easy, so mother keeps me home some days." She unravelled her scarf a little. "You? I don't think I've seen you around but I'm not really around enough to notice I suppose." She looked to her feet for a bit.

Iveth was suprised to meet one of those sick-stay-home kids who you never really see at all in or out of school. "No wonder I haven't seen you around," she stated in an understanding tone. "So you go to Heritage High too.. Maybe I can find you.. If you're not sick." It was very cold, anyone could easily get sick in the weather with the exception of Iveth who had the immune system of a chimpanzee or at least what it seemed. "School starts up again tomorrow.. Exciting, huh?"

"Yes! Real exciting." Her hands crept out from behind her neck and back into one another. She was a fidgeter for sure and often wiggled around, never quite staying still. "Maths.. And stuff. Feeling really pumped. Been studying up everything I've missed." She made an attempt to hold eye contact again but her eyes quickly diverted back to the sidewalk.

Iveth's attention had beem more on Hero's fidgeting than on what she said. Strange how she couldn't hold eye contact for more than a second. It was silent a moment before everything she said had finally caught up to Iveth, "Well maybe you could help me out bit, if you're good at math. I hate numbers."

"Oh, yes. B straight student," she laughed. She'd never quite achieved an A in her life, just lots of B's, though her absences often acted negatively on her score. She was sometimes behind and had to catch up, and other times absences were treated the same as failing a test. It didn't bother her, she couldn't help it. "Maths can be hard for everyone, not everyone has a maths brain." She smiled, but people who didn't have acedemic brains had talents, or an eye for things. She honestly had neither.

Iveth groaned, her fingers finding their way into her hair again, "Ah, same here. I swear I shouldn't have taken so many AP courses." She took a swift glance to her watch before biting her lip. "Crap.. I have to go pick up someone," her words were almost apologetic. "Tomorrow at school then, Hero? Sucks that our break is just about over."

"Yeah, probably not." She shrugged, Hero's workload was pretty minimal. She didn't have any interests and she knew she'd be away from school too much anyway. She'd just fall further behind. She smiled reassuringly, "That's alright, gotta help out friends." She nodded, "Yeah it does, but what can you do? I'll see you later then." She didn't want to hold Iveth up any further than she already had.

Iveth plugged her earbuds right back into her ears as she began her jog back to her apartment, waving at Hero briefly. This would be fun. New friend for the year. Let's see how long that'll keep up. For the majority most of her friends were guys rather than girls. Less talk, more action. Less complaining, more fun. So much romance, just bromance. There was every reason that she thought guys were more fun though Hero didn't seem to be someone to compare to most girls of the school.

Hero continued to wave until Iveth was out of sight, and sighed. She turned away, heading back towards her own home. She didn't really want to be outside any more, simply because she was beginning to feel faint but not because she was alone now. She didn't often spend time away from home, let alone this long and she felt weak. It wasn't unusual for her to feel unwell after being out, school got easier though, the more days she was there. Until she got sick. Her home was far out, so by the time she got home, she immediately collapsed onto one of the decrepit lounges.

It hadn't been long till Iveth made it back to her vehicle, ripping her headphones from her ears as she stuck her keys in the ignition. Although trying not to speed she hastily drove a few miles out into the city to pick one good, annoying little friend of hers. She pulled up next to a large building, grass neatly cut and a nice garden, and say kids with their bags hung over their shoulders around. Most were, six through seventeen years old. There was a sign in the yard with big yellow imprinted letters that said 'Kids in Technology'. Among the students was a small, skinny Italian boy who spoke with the older kids rather than those his age. Yep. That was Newt. Impatiently, Iveth honked seeing that it struck the kid and he ran up to the vehicle, slipping into the passengers seat with a sigh.

"So, how were your classes?" Iveth asked as she pulled away from the curb and onto the road again.

Newt pulled his phone from his pocket, "What do you think? They teach crap I already know? What were you doing all day?"

"Met a.. You could say a friend."

Of course Newt had gone one assuming it was a guy, "Seriously I don't want to be in the middle of all your lovey-"

"It was a girl, Newt," her diction was crisp as she sent a glare over at the boy, "Her name was Hero. I'll see her at school tomorrow.. Maybe."

(I don't celebrate it, being Australian but it was a nice day! Got sunburned tho)

Hero was feeling well when she arrived at school, though a tad bit nauseous and with anxious for it was her first attendance in a long while. She was worried about all kinds of silly things; what if it was a pupil free day? What if everyone was on an excursion? None of her worries had any basis in reality, admittedly but still there was a knot of fear in her stomach. She didn't at all like the sensation, but she put on a brave face and walked to her usual waiting spot, only to find it occupied by teenagers who had swooped in on her absence. She wandered elsewhere, until sitting down on a brick wall near the front of the school. She didn't have much to do, instead pretending to be interested in her nails as she watched people from the corner of her eye like she usually did.
