"You see, Excaliber Umbra may be sentient but he is only sentient enough to move on his own without the control of an Operator. Since Warframes are just humans infected with a virus, transforming them into weapons to use by Ballas, the guy who was the big bad guy until... yeah. EU can't speak but can still think for himself without an Operator puppeting him. EU has only one memory, and that's being forced to kill his own son under Ballas's command, yet he somehow managed to resist control further, becoming an outcast and being hunted by Sentients and the like. In the beginning of The Sacrifice, EU is seen fighting with Ballas and his sentients before being slain. It is the Operator's job to collect remains of EU and rebuild him, but when you finally use him, EU regains his sentience and attacks the Operator before escaping once more. After hunting him down, you confront him and tell him that you will avenge your son together to where he finally lets you operate him. He's still a Warframe, and not one of the two Warframes that can speak (One of them is Sevagoth). So yes. I know your biology"
