Sooooo.... I guess I've decided I wanted to try out a Kingdom Hearts-style world-hopping RP. Though it's inspired by KH, it's not related to it; so expect the physics involved to differ to those of the franchise. Also, the worlds involved in the RP aren't limited to Square Enix and Disney.

I'm going to be throwing my moogle Solas into the ring as the sidekick companion to the main character. He's blessed with the same ability to see and traverse dimensional gateways as the main character, and has already done some world-crossing at the start of the RP (unless you want your character to be from Ivalice during the Age of Technology, in which case, the characters will be taking the first step together). SE has always liked to be mysterious when it comes to the life-cycle of a moogle, so whilst I can't provide Solas's actual age, he's about equivalent to a 15-16-year-old human.

Naturally, I want a player who can play the main character in the story. Toward that end, this'll be a 1x1 RP. Depending on how fitting I see characters used in replies, I'm willing to do more than one RP with this scenario, but if I get more replies than I can handle, I may have to pick and choose, and therefore skip a few people. Ideally, I'd like the character to be between the age of 14 and 19 to be within the same age group as Solas (and player to be 16+), but I'm not going to put a hard limit on that.

As I tend to average 2 paragraphs per post, with a minimum of 1 and less only where it's entirely necessary, I'd prefer a partner who can keep up with the pace. If you can't manage that, then you're probably going to struggle to enjoy this RP.

Hmm... Sounds interesting, but I have one question/concern. My character can perform inter-dimensional travel via gates that appear as rips in the fabric of space rather than having a strange gem in his chest. And he's done this kind of travel countless times in his life for fun, as it's part of his character. The name "dimension hopping" grabbed my attention, but I'm not sure if you would accept my character as viable.

tbh, with this scenario, I kiiiinda wanted the main character discovering their abilities and the presence of alternative dimensions to be a (significant, at first) part of the plot. Discovery and exploration are kinda a big part of the idea. I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy recently and had Kingdom Hearts on the mind when I came up with this idea, so a lot of ideas I have for it are based on them.

Alright, so perhaps I could make a new character for it? Will you be controlling two characters at once, then?

I'll be controlling Solas + the main antagonists + any important characters met along the way that are either essential to the main plot or from worlds I personally might choose for the characters to visit. If you'd rather me play an additional party character from my list of characters on my profile, I can add them to the roster as well.

My partner will be controlling the main character + any important characters met in any worlds they themselves might choose to visit. If you'd like to add a second party character under your own control, feel free to do that as well.

Any unimportant characters like say shopkeepers, random citizens, etc can be shared.

If you're fine making a new character and have an idea in mind, go for it. The only set-in-stone requirement is that they haven't travelled dimensions before nor know any other dimensions exist. Anything else is just preferences. I'd prefer a character in the age range of 14-19 to fit with Solas, and I'd also prefer they have a more humble background; but neither of them are strict requirements (ignoring them increases the chance of me saying no, but doesn't guarantee it, particularly when other aspects of the character might get my interest... though honestly, with this thread not getting as many replies as I'd expected, I'm not hugely picky right now).

Alright. I like characters with humble backgrounds. But what if they know about one or two other dimensions? Such as ones that exist in my universe, but perhaps are ones that we won't end up visiting in particular? I'll begin making the character pages tomorrow and adjust them as you deem fit.

I'd prefer it if they had the awe of not knowing about the multiverse and learning about it for the first time. Perhaps as a compromise, they could only know about it through myths or stories? That way they'd have the knowledge you want them to have, whilst also being surprised about the actual existence of such places.

Would it be okay if they have been suspecting something like the multiverse existed but never managed to prove it before? I'm thinking I might be a type of mage or something who studies the universe.

I suppose the excitement for proving the theory is as good as that of discovering it. So long as they don't know how it all works perfectly, as I can see learning how the pathways work and how to map the worlds being a big part of what motivates the exploration. My own character I plan to still be a relative newbie at it (all they've really done is stumble across a portal and gotten lost in the multiverse after visiting two or three worlds... unless of course you want your character to be native to Ivalice - the world of Final Fantasy XII and Tactics and their spin-offs - in which case as I said in the OP, they'd be taking the first step together), so once they team up and first steps are taken, they're learning about it together.

Oh... I must have misread the original post. You want this to take place in the world of the FF franchise? That could pose a problem. I don't rp in copyright universes. I prefer everything to be original. I thought that was a name you came up with.

Well... yes and no... it's pretty free-form what worlds could come up. Either from other franchises or original. And I don't mind doing this RP in a wholly original setting with no worlds from established franchises. The only thing is that Solas does come from Ivalice, given that's where his species is from. The characters don't have to ever visit there though. I kinda thought Solas himself to be a dead giveaway that non-original content could be involved, given he is of a species from a Final Fantasy setting.

Yes, well, I've never played those games before. But like I said, I'll make a character and I'll see what you think of him. ^^

I don't think I've ever met anyone online who doesn't know what a moogle is... I guess there's a first for everything x3

Mind you... Ivalice's moogles are quite a bit different to every other Final Fantasy setting.

I guess that means you may need some perspective for what 'short' means in terms of Solas's height.

Also I've done some nerdy pixel measuring of screenshots (thankfully Square Enix had disclosed the exact heights of all the main characters in FFXII), studying of height growth charts and percentiles and now have a concrete height for Solas, which is 2'8" including ears, 2'0" without (which is the Moogle equiv. of a 5'2" human). I do get a bit obsessive with character anatomy at times.

My characters can also control certain parts of my elemental spectrum except for my main character, who controls all of it, but can only conjure one part at a time. I would love to be apart of this Roleplay, I've always liked the idea of Dimension Hopping. My OC Xavier Anders would be good for this... I would have to work in some details but he could be a good fit.

I'm not sure that the background of those characters would really fit this RP idea... particularly because this is kinda meant to be more of a zero-to-hero sort of deal. Plus it sounds like their world already has its own problems to deal with without them travelling across others to fight a whole separate evil. Beyond that, I don't see a huge problem with the characters themselves (though their powers might have to be scaled back to some degree depending on the choice of character, as I'm looking for more of an early-level final fantasy deal than a comic book super-hero sorta thing, and some of those characters are definitely a little too powerful).

There's not really enough for me to go by with that character's profile to form an opinion. Maybe if you flesh out his details a bit more I can form more of an opinion. Note that to be accepted, he'd probably have to have some capability of fighting bad guys (without being OP of course).
