I'm not sure if this has ever been made as a suggestion, but I think it'd be really cool if we had a "Recruit a Friend" accolade. RPG had something like this where you were given a friend code to give others to input and you received a neat badge/accolade for doing it. If you recruited enough friends, I think it was ten, then you could get a "Brain Washer" badge by turning in the other 10 badges. It was really neat, and it further encouraged us to share and support the site as much as possible.

I think RPR would have fun with this one, but I suppose it might need a little stricter regulation. The same concept of a "friend code" could be used when signing up to RPR. Or perhaps you could report the information to the moderator team, like one would with the report feature for the suggetions, bugs, questions and what not. Then the one who recruited the new member could gain an accolade for doing so.

:) I just really liked that aspect for RPR, and I know that a lot of people would want to cash in on a neat accolade for having brought their own friends along.
I know that Kamizombie would certainly gain himself quite a few of those accolades if this became a thing. He's recruited a ton of people since RPG had it's shut down last year.

All in all, just a fun suggestion.

I second this.

While I am not against this fully and think it would be kind of nifty...I've been a member of way too many places that offer stuff like this. And, honestly..I've always found it depressing. Some people do not have the widest circle of friends to solicit for recruitment, and..if they do, those friends may already be a member of the site. That, and with this, one person could post their recruitment stuff up on a site, either spamming it or posting it in one place where it's designated, and that kind of ruins it for anyone else to post there. Then one person gets all of the glory for that specific place. Unless, of course, someone puts their recruiting stuff on their profile or in their signature (as I have done in the past).

But, still..it's depressing to see some people get so many hits and then others don't. And, I've also seen it horrifically abused. Where, people will basically tell their friends/family/rando's "Hey, click this link and sign up for this site! You don't even have to continue using it, just do this cause it will help ME!".

There's actually a user on -THIS- site who does this with a specific website, and, when they asked me "Hey do you play this" blah blah and I said no..it's like..that's all they cared about. I didn't even know them, I was not friends with them..it was a random question about RP from me to them and then THIS other subject of recruitment for some site came about and I felt...intimidated. It really bothered me...like, they were making a sales pitch and if I said I wasn't interested, they would rebuttal and just keep going. I hated it. I eventually had to just stop responding and block them. Which, funny enough, they did the exact same thing to me on Furcadia on an alt they didn't know was me. I didn't ever reply, just ignored them.
So, the conversation felt like that was ALL they cared about. Recruitment for some site so they could get some points or special award or items.

I don't like when people do that. It's wrong. And asking someone to join JUST so you can get that shiny badge/accolade/prize - but telling them that they have no reason to stay (if it's something they are not interested in) just to help you out. That's wrong IMHO as well....

So, while I'm not completely against this, I am more against it than for.

**ADDITION** While someone could argue that they deserve said shiny thing for "putting work in recruiting people" (in ways I mentioned above), I don't consider it "putting work in" or "earning" it if the people just join to help someone get the thing and not STAY. Earning it, to me, would be if the person actively stayed on the site. Not just made a profile and was a "member" for so long (as, anyone can make a profile and then ignore it for life...and accrue time having been a member), but actually stayed and invested time. Either roleplaying or on the forums talking. And I do not mean in some random "post here till we reach 5000" thing, or forum games of simplicity. I mean actual investment in the site time wise, if that makes sense. And not just "until the goal of time" of them being here has been reached (say..a month), but after that.
