I have?? No idea?? How to describe voices??
I'm talking specifically the actual tone, which isn't super applicable in how I write but an honest part of that is because I just don't know how to convey how my characters sound. I don't understand terms like alto, soprano, tenor, etc. and I don't know how well understood they are by others, either so I'm basically wondering: How does one describe a voice? Do you have any examples of voices you might think of when you hear things like "she had an alto voice" or "he had a sweet voice" and whatnot?

I might comeback and edit this later because I'm not super sure I'm getting what I want to across because I'm tired
I've seen others in the past use a simple adjective in front of what they are saying, and sometimes they aren't exactly saying anything at all! Depending on the character, they might growl out a response, their voice might be just audible enough to be heard or they might bark out an order. There are also tones ie: sultry (if the character is looking to distract someone else) adoring, ardent or out of breath, ect. Here's a link on how to find your voice

Great link Loco!

Something too that helps me, is hearing the voice in my own head so I can better decribe it. Sometimes that means going so far as finding a voice sample, for instance if one of my characters had an accent, then I go to youtube to find real people with those accents to aid me.

My points really not gotten across or I just don't get what you're saying, but I'm not really looking to describe How they're speaking. I'd like to think I already know how to do that but probably not. I'm looking to strictly describe the actual, physical tone of a voice.

imma close this, possibly temporarily, because I really don't think I'll have the energy to host this too well woops
