This Looking For RP topic is marked as closed, meaning it is no longer seeking new players.
So this one is a bit of a more vague RP proposal because I dont have an exact plot or setting for it, more of a range of plots and settings for the sake of flexibility. Having said that, I do have factions and setting details that "could" come into play. Anyways, I'll get to the point.
So the RP proposal is for a sci-fi RP with the technology level being between early interstellar travel, and full-on interstellar sci-fi. In the RP world there would be different factions of humans, and aliens may show up later on but they would not exist in the plot at the beginning. Essentially the important details are as follows:
- Faster than light travel is possible, but heavily limited. Exact details up for discussion, or if you dont want to discuss them I'd opt for wormholes that require a static structure on both sides of the wormhole to be opened (so you couldnt go to places you hadnt already been to and built a wormhole modulator at).
- The majority of factions at the beginning use coilguns, railguns, or ballistic weaponry. Directed energy weapons are (early on) limited to the more technologically advanced factions.
- Primitive alien life may have been discovered, but there are no known alien civilizations. There either could or could not be aliens later on in the story.
- Human civilization is still roughly centered around earth.
- Non-human factions can exist outside of alien life in the sense of genetically engineered, artificially intelligent, or cyberneticaly enhanced branch-offs from human civilization. My own characters would invariably be of the genetically engineered variety.
- Different planets are mostly scarcely populated, but may be sites of competition as a result of natural resources.
- Weaponry "mostly" revolves around relatively sound premises (i.e. lasers work like lasers, plasma works like plasma. Less of the "blaster" kind of weapons you see in some sci-fi), but there are supernatural aspects to the story like psionics. These aspects may not be immediately apparent, but may end up being very important (Such as in Warhammer 40k or star wars).
Generally I'm being a bit vague to keep it more flexible and allow more characters, however, I do have some set premises that I could introduce if you dont feel like discussing the specifics of the setting as much.
For the RP-ing itself I'd be happy with either a lower-level, character-oriented roleplay or a larger-scale roleplay dealing with civilizations or strategic concerns. You can find more details about how I RP in my profile.
Finally, although I dont anticipate finding enough people interested, I do think it would be cool to have a group RP, so if you're interested in possibly doing a small group RP, let me know and if theres enough people interested (i.e., at least two) maybe we could put something together.

Magic is rare. Some of the players might have it. There may be sages or other magical figures that could be sought out for tutelage.
Further future, perhaps visit mars or upload your brain
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.

I'm interested if you're still looking for someone. Just feels really rare to see good more original sci-fi pitches here. Everything else is either fantasy up to modern or like 20 or so years further into the future.
