Wahoo! Server maintenance completed. I ended up going a little long, after the initial planned maintenance that required downtime was completed -- the following maintenance mostly just caused slowness but left the site up and usable. I spotted some optimizations and upgrades that I wanted to tackle while you were all warned to expect something.Thanks for your patience, everyone! The site should be running nice and smooth again now. Back to your regularly scheduled RP.

I've made a lot of progress in recovering previously entered foreign language characters that got broken in character names, taglines, and private messages. Gonna take a break before continuing onward.
Not sure I'm gonna be putting in this work to get back the old emojis, tho.

YEAH! Nearly the whole site got a major performance boost during these upgrades, and I am so very very pleased about it. If I can solve the special character encoding issues I'll count today as a total win

Board response is really fast now!
OKAY, seems like the forum weirdness is more or less sorted and all forums are displaying as expected once more. Onward to the special character encoding issue.

I see we're struggling with an encoding issue on special characters, along with some weirdnesses with certain forums. I'm working on both these things!
