This was a super fun month for office hours, but a little difficult to produce a summary of. There was just so much fun, chatting, joking and generalized goofiness going on in and around all of the more serious questions! I've done my best to pull out the Qs and As and to add in context where necessary so that they (hopefully) make sense! How are you holding up Kim?
I'm definitely... moving and thinking slower at the end of this two week bug hunt than I was at the start.
Are there still piggies? The piggies used to be the shadow admins that really ran the site.
I had to give the pigs up when I moved to the UK
Is Operation Terra Incognita back on track well enough for you to make any sort of estimates on when we might get to start trying it out, or is that still too unpredictable/uncertain?
Soo.... reject the premise, even when Operation Terra Incognita was its MOST on track, I had no clear estimate of when it would be out. That said, things are going sooo much better just in January than they ever did in all of 2025, I'm starting to get hopeful I'll have some portions for the summer.
I am going to have to turn my eyes to Epic Week for a month or two soon here. Not to mention take a little break next week -- after several weeks of prepping the update, launching it, and then two weeks of a hotstreak bug hunt, I need to take some evasive action against burnout so I can keep this good good 2026 energy
Are we any closer to understanding how Doubutt eats?
Oh, Doubutt eats through there *gestures broadly* This bit of his anatomy *waves generally* That's where the food goes in.
I would have thought it was obvious. 🤔

You see it now, right? All sort of... around. Yes.
Do all the monsters live in Fortress Four oh Four year round or are they seasonal hires?
Forohfor is a sort of non-Euclidean space, so while the monsters are probably there year-round, there's no guarantee that they are in the same... folds? As Doubutt spends his time most of the year. I'm sure they run into each other sometimes, though.
And now I'm thinking of the Doubutt game as just a silly game of tag among them all.
It's entirely possible that's how at least some of the residents see it.
Someone asked about 'duplicating' a character set-up on the forums. Curious how exactly that would work. I know we can 'copy' widgets to another character...
The idea right now is more or less to dupe a whole character profile into draft mode. So it would be a starting point for a new profile, rather than something that would over-write what you already have on the character. I suppose we might look into making it also work if the character has no widgets/pages yet.
kind of like the style code saving of a group to use on another group?
Soooort of? Except this would be for all the widgets and columns and content. I think a lot of people set up all of their character profile more or less the same way, and don't want to redo it all by hand every time.
Has there been any thought about more silk cloak colors?
Do people really want these? Because I can happily get you some new cloaks this year. Paisley here we come
(at this point there was general agreement that people DO want more cloak colors, and requests were made for orange, yellow, pink and maroon red)
How hard would it be to add redirect "pages" to the Lore Wiki to help with things like a given bit of info making sense to place under multiple different areas, so we don't end up having duplicate pages and things can be found where expected? Or multiple different pages about the same thing in different contexts (which it might not be clear that there are, indeed, multiple different pages)? For example, is tied to pets, is a recurring character, does repairs during Epic Week, and was a key EW character one year, and some of those make sense to put under different areas. By redirect pages, It creates a database entry that allows something to be recognized as a "page" for UX purposes - allowing different names, categorization, etc - but only one of them will be the official page; all the others are basically blank and automatically send the viewer to the sole official page, where all the info for all the contexts is.
I think this is something that we could add. I will at least look into it.
I don't know if there would be time this year but maybe some new popsicle flavors for Summer Soiree? Also, some of the other events like Halloween. Honestly, that motivates me to participate if there were new accolades.
Oh, interesting. I'll take a note. No promises for this year! New popsicles and candies would actually be super fun to create.
I once found a bug on my company's intranet and I honestly had the thought "I don't know if it's worth reporting, it's not like I'll get an accolade for it."
I died. I passed away just from reading this sentence.
Just the existence of bug report accolades helps reassure me that bug reports are good. Even if a lot of what I ended up reporting is actually just obscure typos.
Listen, *anything* I can do to convince people of this, not just on the RPR but in the world at large. Good devs adore good bug reports. ADORE. Even if they are as silly as "You somehow managed to say the same word twice in a row in this intro paragraph." I am never bothered by bug reports. Never.
It would be nice if you were replying on a guestbook, if the site remembered who you last replied as in that guestbook thread and defaulted the "reply as" dropdown to that character
I agree that would be nice. It's pretty challenging to have it detect per guestbook thread the way it's set up right now. That might need a complete overhaul to implement. So I'm not totally sold on the amount of work this would take for the gain it would produce, right now.
What about the water ballon throwable idea?
More throwables are always fun. Figuring out how to create a fun enough effect that is also pleasant enough to not drive people crazy is a huge challenge, but I would really like to do both water balloons and flower petal bombs in future. The water balloon effect is likely to be more like a gentle drizzle/rain than a big splash or ripple.
Is there any plans on what to do with all the irradiated space junk?
We're just glad the space junk isn't in orbit anymore!
You can dump extras here, though: The Epic Junkyard
How many new account registrations does RPR get in a day?
I haven't looked in a bit but because of bots it's *very high* until the mods go through and delete.
A friend recently got their first RPR pet rock and I showed them what happens if you copy the picture instead of screenshotting.
This is a canon event. We can't interfere.
I saw that new summer soiree popsicles were being discussed yesterday and I'd like to humbly request that you consider making a lime popsicle
Adding the request for lemon/lime and gummy worms to my notes...
What do you think is your best Epic Week campaign throughout the years? In terms of effort put in, overall fun you had, etc.
The first time we introduced combat as a mechanic was absolutely exhilirating, as everyone learned the systems and got used to fighting alongside one another. The amount of team work and coordination and discovery in the air was just incredible. That was 2015.
But then in 2021 we introduced the "research library" and were able to create way, way deeper plots, I felt like people got pretty into that. It was sooo much fun. Although that library is HUGE amounts of efforts to create.
And in 2023 when we discovered the Struth isle, Moa's backstory, I felt like that really resonated with people, and we also had the first appearance of the walrus captaining game.
Those were all highlights for me, though most EWs have some moments that really stand out in my mind
How's Project Terra Incognita going? Has the map-making process proven to be harder or easier than you expected? What kind of things have you learned so far from it?
It didn't really go much at all during 2025. Last year was just a long series of life changes and various disasters for me - it feels like despite constant activity, I just didn't have much to show for it. That said, this year has been going soooo much better, I already released the site upgrade two weeks ago that has moved us forward.
I am very excited for cartography. I genuinely trust RPR to come out with a more useful free dungeon map tool than any of the ones I've found so far, and I have so much use for one.
Oh golly that is wildly flattering, I hope I can live up to your expectations/hopes!
Is the being able to exchange candy accolades for leaf items thing only some years? Or was it just accidentally skipped this last year?
Speaking of 2025 just being a long series of disasters... That was entirely my bad. The leaf exchange fell during an international move/surprise divorce/second unplanned international move and I just completely dropped the ball on it. I felt so bad when I realized, but it was already too late. It's supposed to happen every year. It WILL happen this year.
I have a question for you: I organized a little something where I (manually) reached out to a lot of people and asked them to spread the word to write something for you in a bunch of cards, precisely because 2025 was so rough for you. (I probably didn't get to reach everyone who would have wanted to participate, so for those reading along I HIGHLY recommend sending Kim their own message about what she means to you and wishing her all the best for this year.) Did it help to see so many people think of you and encourage you?
Profoundly. I felt like I was letting a lot of people down last year. I had a very, very good cry after getting those cards.
what advice would you give to someone wanting to come back to roleplaying, but is nervous or scared about it? Especially the more social parts of roleplaying.
I guess it depends on what part of the social bits they are worried about. Is it more a fear of rejection? A fear of not being able to live up to the expectations of others? Fear about vocalizing your wants/needs?
For me, really sitting in and interrogating anxiety to try and pinpoint the source, instead of just feeling it as generalized un-ease, helps a lot. That opens up a lot of possibilities for reality testing, and also for practicing just being okay being a bit uncomfortable. The more you do it, the more you learn that it's a totally survivable feeling, and at least for me, starts to fade.
I see! I honestly never really thought of like that before. I only ask because it's been a while since I've roleplayed, and I'll admit to being nervous about it... I used to be very active, and I really want to try again to make some fantastic stories.
It can take some time and some tries to find the right mix of people and plot. I have absolutely struggled with that myself throughout my life, on and off. But it's soooo worth it when you finally find that right mix. It's like magic.
Kim what's your favourite throwable to have thrown at you?
It's either the glitter bomb or the snowball. I think it changes depending on the weather. I sometimes find the snowball a little bit jarring when I get hit with one in July.
I’m a very curious person and wanted to know if ever there might be a view counter on posts
Maybe. This has been a controversial idea in the past because some people feel that it would strongly trigger their anxiety or rejection sensitive dysphoria, or lead people to feeling like they were having popularity contests.
